That's what we will be discussing this week.

we have to give two weeks notice and we have to make sure we have a venue. We don't want the date to clash with an big sporting events going on

we will keep you all updated.

    Thanks Tracy

With respect Smiler, Hardwick left in May 1956. Ted Goodier was boss from then till 1958.

Well spotted I was 8 when I first went to BP , so it must have been 1955 when I first went to BP I was born in 1947. Hardwick was definitely player manager I remember that. Sorry I got the date wrong but my memory is not as good as it was.

Your only kidding yourself by calling it division 2. It’s division 4.

It's a long time since it was Division 4 perhaps you live in the past but I can remember when we where last in Division 4 and before that it was a Division 3 North. I Started supporting in 1957 so I reckon I have watched Oldham play in more Divisions than most. George Hardwick was player manager then.

I dont have to accept that.  As of now I don’t think Wellens is leader material.  Maybe as a player by example but as a manager he was seriously lacking imo.

I did say the other day that the shit would hit the fan when AL found out who the mole was. Well today the shit has hit the fan big time and the next poster of the staff to go who causes bad feeling on the media and in the dressing room will be Gerrard.

Wellens third fab for Macc job, just ahead of Tipton

If AL has found out that he and his agent have been touting his name forward for other Management jobs then it's no wonder he's been sacked. We need stability at the club. If I remember rightly he did that when he was a player. Always looking for the next move.

Gets around that Wellens he's just got back from holiday so highly unlikely to be on another . Perhaps that's why he's been sacked. If he's just got back from 2 weeks holiday he should be concentrating on getting players signed and out of the club not going off to Mexico.,

  7. Whoever the new manager is I hope he has got some good contacts. We need stability now as a club more than ever. Hope we get someone in soon who will start talking in a positive manner and bring the quality of players in that we need to get out of Division 2. Also I hope AL gets rid of the bad element of players that are causing disruption in the dressing room, even if he has to pay up their contracts. We need to sweep all the bad out of the club as soon as possible.

The reason I find it hard to believe Wellens was complicit in the Daily rag article is because he couldn't really afford to get sacked if he aspires a career in management.

His CV now reads that he's relegated the only club he's managed, a club that hadn't been relegated in 20 years. With a 2.5 mil wage budget (I know they weren't all his signings).

Even if things were that bad you'd have thought he'd have just got his head down, try and get some success next season and jump ship when offered a new opportunity.

Where does Wellens go from here?

    New Doncaster manager

    Do they even exist?

It’s all speculation. Until the club make a statement on anymore signings I would call it at one signing and I don’t think Baxter was a Wellens signing. Not by his body language at his interview on Ifollow and who was in the picture when Baxter signed it was AL not Wellens

Ah but in AL we trust!

No wonder that Gerrard could not get employment from a club other than Oldham. Obviously he’s a big disruption in any football dressing room at any decent club. I hope he is sacked as well and his contract terminated worthwith. We don’t need his sort of mental player at our club.

Of the two I would prefer Clarke who could also do a job at coaching our young centre  backs. He may be slow but his experience and commitment are better. He still seems fit and is not injury prone.

I agree with you Flemboy I would rather have Clarke than the fat boy who is prone to injuries especially when it gets to the crucial time of the season
