  1. Disappointed that Hazel has been offered a new contract. I think he's been a liability for much of the season. Also disappointed for Alice, I thought he started the season really well until he got injured then never really got another chance. I think that Smalley would need his head felt if he decided to come back to Latics over a possible deal being offered by Chesterfield - he was abused by many of our fans. A familiar story I'm afraid.

  2. I like the badge and the new kit. I know there are people saying that the stadium situation is more important etc.

Think of it simply. As a business man (in this scenario Corney) would you choose to start an 'evolution' and saying its a fresh start/new dawn if you knew you're business/company (OAFC) had nothing in the pipeline and was on its way down the crapper? Answer is - no.

The evolution thing came in few weeks/months after the joke of the charity land swap from the council and that the club had meetings with the council.

To me it all looks like Corney has FINALLY got the council where he wants them and that land has been agreed on, contractors being contacted etc and once the elections are out of the way...the evolution will continue to better things.

The kit is the first step of it. It's annoying how so many people dont understand the word EVOLUTION...its not one thing, its a series of things, such as the change from apes to humans. An ape suddenly didn't give birth to a human...it gradually happened over time.

That's no way to talk about your mother

  3. Have never been a big fan of the existing badge. I much preferred the old badge as on the 1969-70 season Tangerine shirt and 1973-74 blue shirt. Felt at the time that the change lost us our identity, but the subsequent success of the Royle era created a new identity for the club and in time the badge became accepted. Strange how a new generation now have the thoughts I had in my early 20's. Hope this new evolution leads to similar successes.

    You have to start somewhere.

I prefer the new badge to the current one, but overall still prefer the 70's badge of the Owl sitting on a ball.

What he said about the old badge. I'd have like to see a new design with the Owl landing on a ball - talons sharpened. A modern version of the design on the old Boundary Bulletins.

  4. Very true, and nothing could be simpler than that really. Which leaves one big question, what needs to be done to get them back in?

    Fundamentally:

    1. Reduce admission price.

    2. Win games.

Both or either/or. Sort that out and the rest will slot into place.

    Rebuild The Lookers

We've lost 1500 die hard regulars since the premature demolision of the best stand that we had

  5. Am I alone in thinking that his sacking is harsh?

Well, I think that his after match comments live on Sky, bearing in mind the recent activities of one Mr Ashley Cole and his air-rifle, I would have thought that comments about "If I had a gun, I'd shoot my players", was probably not a very clever thing to say. There's no doubt about that.

    :rifle: = :behead:

  6. What a load of rubbish gets posted on this forum. I despair.

How on earth Amos is clearly a better keeper than Brill is beyond me. The goals and the number of them conceeded by Amos is truly shocking. He makes a mistake and he us not attacked verbally, Brill makes a mistake and the vitriol directed at him is ridiculous.

Amos is clearly better than Brill? No, his face just fits this clique is all.

  8. Surname, postcode and House number would take all of 10 seconds - get the data from the start. Saves a job in the future imo. A little pro-activity goes a long way in any business…no offence and nothing personal but the easy option is why the club finds itself in such a mess.

    Yeah, let's also ask them

Did you used to go to Latics?

    Why did you stop going?

What has made you want to go again?

Us there anyone else you could mither into coming with you?

    Will you buy a programme?

    If not, why not?

    Will you buy a pie?

    If so, what flavour?

Do you realise that if you say that you're not going to buy a pie and then change your mind, someone who has gone for years may have to go without?

How do you think that makes them feel?

Have you changed you mind about buying a pie?

    Chaddy or RRE?

Do you realise that you can't change your mind after you've decided?

Or we could just say "Thanks for buying a ticket through this new outlet. Is there anything else I can help you with?

Enjoy the match. Come on Latics"

  9. If by "drama queens" you mean those who have expressed their genuine fears for the survival of the club, if and when "hope" becomes reality the huge majority will I'm sure be truly grateful that their worst fears have not been realised. Yet.

Whereas the head in the sand happy clappers still have a :censored:ing nasty shock coming to them. Sooner or later.

    Well said Sir

  10. Ha! That was what I thought last night Savage when I realised it was 21 years!!

Ad Rick, I must have been stood near you. Always used to stand there cause it was the most raucous place in the ground but was always a bit terrified by the surge down the stand when we scored and the ensuing backward scramble up the concrete as people pushed back. It wasn't too bad when there was room to move your feet but on nights like West Ham and Soton when we were packed in like sardines, it was proper scary for a 14/15 year old!

We used to stand a bit further back (ont wood) and used to enjoy petrifying the 14/15 year olds in front of us by surging as far down as we could whenever we scored. It was also a great way of wrestling some space back around where you were stood. :D

I Used to meet up with some proper top blokes - Martin (posts on here occassionally), Big Gaz, Craig and a few others. We even used to have a couple of Doris's join us on regular occassions.

They were magical times and it makes me glad that I remember them :) , but sad that they are a thing of the past :disappointed:

  11. Was there that night back of the chaddy singin my heart out "has macari had a bet" "wheres your handbag julien " "were going to wembley twice". One of the best nights ever at boundary park if your to young to of been there times the atmosphere at goodison after maccas goal by ten. amazing night Watched my old vhs copy of this and southampton away only last week still get that same buz even now .

I started some of those songs.

Does your boyfriend know you're here

    Where's your handbag Julian

Me and some mates used to stand 3/4 of the way up the Chaddy on the main stand side. What a night it was.

    Truly magical.
