  1. will do speak to him tomoz, going to ask him why he kept it quite aswell, he didn't tell me about it

and i've been trying to get him to go for a long time!!!

I am not ashamed to tell you all that I managed to blag my way into the players lounge after the game (with a little help from my friends) and actually got to meet the great man. Had a good chat with Gavin too who was buzzing at the excitement shown on so many 40 odd year old blokes faces when they were having their photos taken (yes, I was one of them).

I AM old enough to remember him playing, in fact, I remember us signing him and watched most of his games at home and many away (including the brace he scored away at Carlisle last game of the season and the day of the Bradford fire) right through to his testimonial at home against City.

Saturday has to go down as a day that I will NEVER forget.

Jerseyblue, tell Roger that it was an absolute pleasure and privelidge to meet him, and also tell Gavin that I am still disappointed that he is a United fan, but as he is the Son of God, I suppose I can forgive him!

  2. I'll be there next season with my ST. It was nothing to do with Penney that today. Brighton are just better players with a better understanding how to play football.

If I desert OAFC, then I deserve the side I'd get. Simple.

Youre kidding yourself if you think that a football manager has nothing to do with the effort and commitment shown from his team.

    Good luck next season.

  3. Will I be able to get a chauffeur driven limo from Glossop as the distance between Glossop and Failsworth is atleast twice as far as it is from Royton to failsworth.

I'm sorry i'm with ackey on this and people need to get over this small town insular attitude. Close to Man city people say well so is boundary park and it affects our attendences now even if we rebuilt boundary park the proximity of Manchester City and United would still have a huge factor on attendences.

You can be with whoever you want pal.

It aint gonna make me go to Failsworth.

  4. You never know, the club may well run a park and ride/bus service from BP or something along those lines. Who knows.

I dont really think that that is going to cut it for me though. Doesnt really float my boat.

I'd have been happy with Ferney Fields or even better, the redevelopment of BP that we were promised, but Failsworth just leaves me cold.

  5. Yeah, I agree with all of those and can understand people throwing in the towel because of that. But just of where the ground is situated?? Crap that, it's still technically Oldham Met Borough and people with a complex about where they think Failsworth is, are to be honest, living right in the past.

Jamie, everyone can argue until they are blue in the face about whether Failsworth is in Oldham or Manchester, but it doesn't really matter.

There is a saying that "perception is reality", which means that it doesn't matter if someone has the facts that a particular conurbation is within one town's boundaries or another - if people consider Failsworth to be in Manchester then it might as well be.

I think that the move so far away from our spiritual home, along with the aforementioned reasons why people are drifting away is maybe the final straw for me. Also having read on the OS that the consultation with fans is continuing with a further stage still to go, but that TTA have invested "several million pounds" on the British Aerospace site doesn't exactly make me feel like I am in any way a "stake holder" in this process.

Anyhow, if I win £85,000,000 on tonight's Euro Lottery, all this may be put behind me. Afterall, it's difficult following the Latics results from a luxury yacht in the Caribbean

  6. I can't see me moving to Failsworth. I want Boundary Park to be re-developed like we were promised. I walked from the Town Hall to Boundary Park to help the owners get this, but feel betrayed that the decison to move the club has been done, finalised and made - including a deal with the council - before they have considered what the fans want.

I have the destinct feeling that decisions have been made on the premise that "once we hit the last hardcore of fans, we can't lose any more of them" and I dont think it is true.

I very much doubt I will get a Season Ticket next year - I'll still do a fair number of away games, and am not giving up completely yet, but the way I feel about the club, the ownership and the future........I feel that I am on the wain.

  7. Motherwell, meanwhile, are unhappy at losing their former youth player Slane, at such an early stage in his career. He has signed for Celtic on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

A statement by Motherwell chairman John Boyle on the club website said: "We have tried and tried to get Paul to sign a long-term contract but much to our extreme disappointment, he has continually refused.

"We have offered the player improved competitive terms in line with other progressing youngsters at the club but both personally and through his agent, he has refused.

"Paul has been at the club for six years and we have financed his development and nurtured his talent, culminating in his senior debut at the end of last season.

"We have also stuck by and supported him over those years through both personal issues and injury and felt we were due some degree of loyalty for our efforts. Sadly he has chosen to refuse our offers and move on to Celtic."

    SUMO

    Shut Up and Move On

Really, the Porter saga is ancient history, it's time to let go.
