  1. Can someone tell me the ticket prices for kids in the main stand lower

I'm trying to get one of the lads from work to come to a game with his family but I cant access the official site from work.

    cheers

Adults £17 in advance £19 on the day

Consessions £9 in advance £11 on the day

  2. Hope Sheehan continues his good form for the Latics. I wonder if we keep producing good results and as the injuries free up Sheehan will get the club in his blood. Or are just a 'Arber' like stepping stone?

Rumour has it that Leeds would be prepared to let him stay with us permanently as some kind of deal involving Taylor. I know which one I'd rather have at Latics.

NB This is rumour and I have not seen any confirmation or profess to have the info from a good source :sauce:

  3. Indeed, despite all the troubles I've had PTV/FLi have been fantastic in trying to solve the problems.

Also, whilst I will endeavour to reply to threads like this on OWTB.co.uk where ever possible, obviously I can't commit the time to this site I did when I worked here, so if you or anyone else has an issue you'd like to raise please contact me using the email button below.

    Too busy eating bananas?

Hope you are enjoying the job.

  4. kungfoo, what planet are you on? where on earth did you get that Will wanted 4k a week?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you wouldnt believe how far from the truth you are.

i really wish people on here would not speculate on information that they do not have a clue about, claiming that its 100% true.

Will has signed for morecambe this afternoon, he trained with us and blackpool as we all know in the hope of getting a deal, but unfortunately that never worked out. he is happy to sign for morecambe where all he wants to do is play every week, and be a solid servant to his employers.

he has been an excellent servant for us down the years, he knew his limits but he never gave less than 100%

he is a regular visitor to watch latics in his free time , the club is very close to his heart , and he will continue to come to games when he can and support the club.

he was really appreciative that DP let him get fit in pre season, and he proved to be a model professional in his attitude in pre season.

i just wish some people on here would give a positive view on things and not constantly try to ruin reputations of certain players, particularly ones who dont deserve anything but the best wishes from us all.

................................and before you ask how i know this info, plenty of people on here know who i am and that i dont need to give any false information

    cheers

Please pass on my regards and best wishes next time you see Will. I hope it works out well for him.

    Cheers Martin

  5. Give Gregan a new contract straight away !.

The question is who is the expert here ?.....quite clearly Gregan would never get any improvement with his pace... or should I have said ...total lack of it !... his age is against him and in my honest opinion I don't think he can cope with anyone with any pace against him, this unfortunately was very obvious for the whole of last season and part of the previous one.... when he was Red carded just about summed it up really.

However let's all hope he proves Big Joe right and Dave Penney right for believing in him, and the rest of us totally useless "no nowts" by having one of his best seasons ?... :disappointed: did I actually type that ?

So if we didn't re-sign Gregan who would our CB pairing be? Just Rubes on his own?

  6. One interesting aspect of The Chron's coverage is the on-line feedback on various stories. Following the 'Plot Holders Dig in, etc' story there were quite a number of comments. About 8 were critical of The Chron's coverage with 2 comments supporting the editorial line. In today's paper The Chron printed 2 comments, 1 in favour and 1 critical. Talk about bias reporting!

Moreover, in today’s paper there is also an editorial criticising Latics for daring to question The Chron! What is going on at the paper? Is Jim Williams, who I remember as a Latics reporter years ago, still the editor?

    Sounds balanced to me

  7. I agree with your post that we need to get the Cron more on side, but I think the disappointment in the chron is overwhelming.

The should be showing their Pride in Oldham for both Latics and Rugby, but have covered vatious stories in a negative way, and seem to be having a bit of a tant about it.

To give the allotmetns a front page spread is frankly a farce,

But they have to write both positive AND negative stories to be seen as impartial.

The less we work WITH them, the more we work AGAINST them I am afraid. Also, it then gets to the stage where people get their noses put out of joint - and all of a sudden, you've got an increasingly disfunctional relationship on both sides - Latics refuse to help the Chron "break" any stories, so the Chron highlight more negative stories about Latics.

The cycle MUST be broken because both sides are to blame and neither are benefitting from the current situation

  8. I am very disappointed in this response from the club.

Everyone knows that Newspapers HAVE to be seen to be impartial - hence, they publish positive stories and negative stories about the same news item. No LOCAL newspaper wants to be seen to be "taking sides" as they run the risk of alienating half of their readership. Look at the MEN - they keep a balanced output when it comes to football, because, to be considered as favouring one of the big two Manchester clubs could be catastrophic for their business. It is different for National Papers as they don't care of they upset people as they have a seemingly endless flow of news stories for them to report on.

Now, what I would expect the club to do is sit down and develop a strategy of how they can "manipulate" the situation for their own benefit.

We all know that the club like to break news stories themselves so that they generate Website Clicks and incomes from SMS subscriptions; but we also know that if we walk into the Newsagents and see a Headline in the Chron that looks like an exclusive or breaking story, we can't help but buy the paper there and then.

So stage one is to understand "What is in it for them" and "What is in it for me". The strategy then needs to be developed whereby the club ACTIVELY INCLUDE the Chron in their Public Relations activities. There is still enough interest in Latics and enough news stories for these to be shared out between the club and local paper so that everyone is happy. The large majority of Oldhammers don't go to Boundary Park - and they won't if all they see are negative comments in the Chron. The local paper is our route into the homes of our biggest potential market and income stream.

What has happened recently, is that Latics have starved the Chron of their Oxygen (Breaking News Stories or Insider Tit-Bits) to the extent that when asked not to publish information before everyone else (including Reuters, MEN, Associated Press et al) they clearly didn't feel that they were able to do this and published early. This puts the whole relationship in a negative spiral with each party "taking shots" at the other. Who wins? No-one.

So, come on Latics. Be grown up about this, act like the adult, understand how the local paper can help us and how we can help the local paper - then we can all hold our heads up high and strengthen our futures - TOGETHER.

  9. Or just perhaps the whole commentary and reports from last night suggested Byfield played well. Not one person but lots of people. Was surprised that so many thought he hadnt via board today. Would prefer a host of strikers who we cant afford, just keep asking who instead but no answers to the question..or better solutions so far.

All i said was he said to me at a charity function when I asked how he thought things had gone, was he said something like. " I feel as though I let myself down a bit as wasnt match fit, ........getting there but not my level of fitness...enjoyed playing with Taylor...FANS I met really supportive wanted me to do well, felt at home, would like to have proved a few wrong at Donny." wouldnt be drawn on Hughes...

As for the last bit Rick feel just the same its an opinion...nothing more.

No problem, but I think we Agree to Disagree on this one. Can't believe that it took 4 pages to get to this.

As far as who else, I think that we need to sign A.N Other-Stiker from Someone Else FC if they present themselves or are found by our networking and scouting intrastructure - but we need to strengthen our Centre Half position and then Goal Keeper before worrying too much about re-signing someone who failed to impress in 8 games last season and has divided opinion on here after 3/4 of a game last night.

  10. The way I read Hallam's post he just chatted to the player and found him to be decent and genuine guy, I don't see what's wrong with that.

I went to the match last night and thought Byfield put in a lot of effort showing some skill and pace, in fact had he been on Middlesbrough's side I think Latics fans would enthused about him as I thought he was more impressive than any of their strikers.

I dont think that there is anything wrong with someone meeting a player and thinking that they are a nice person, but to use this and the third party account of a messageboard poster as a basis to tell other people (including myself) who were at the match that we should give the guy a contract, is somewhat questionable in my view.

My take on Byfield's performance last night is - Energetic, but no End Result - 0 goals, 0 shots on target, 0 shots if I remember correctly. If we are to progress, we don't need another Paul Warne, we need another Chris Porter / Lee Hughes / Craig Davies / Jim Steele. In my opinion of course.

JESUS - why do you have to constantly repeat and justify yourself on this Board. Tsk
