yes, because the ref's job is to assess whether it is fit to play at that particular time
That is exactly what has caused the situation we are in. Crazy

No chance the game will be moved at such a late stage!
As it stands yes, but we don't know if plans are already being made in the background because as I mentioned earlier the club, well actually both clubs, aren't giving us updates.
If alternatives are already ruled out they should tell us that if only to stop us speculating and googling clubs close to Halifax
I don't recall ever being in a situation like this.

We keep thinking they might switch to somewhere else but who is to say that pitch won't be waterlogged.
Can you imagine we all set off to somewhere else and it's called off at the last minute!!!

A pitch that isn't playable for a game of football can often be playable for rugby...
I agree but when you ground share then surely you have to consider the implications of playing on it, and if the rugby don't then this situation will crop up season after season.
If you inspect a pitch and it's bad but more or less playable, but you knew if you played on it it would be unplayable for the rest of the season, would you pass it fit?

Not sure that "our pitch is shit and the Council don't maintain it" is mitigating circumstances. After several postponements this season ( 8 I think) at what stage do you say it is undermining the integrity of the leagueand hand out fines and other points deductions?
A club is not just allowed into a league based on match results. The ground and infrastructure must meet certain criteria. Surely Halifax is failing in this.
I know people will say you can't stop the rain but when other clubs get matches on and they are the only ones who don't then they are failing to meet standards that the NL must set.

Can't say I know anything about the set up at Halifax but is there any reason why the football club would be able to claim primacy?
I agree we don't know the agreement between both clubs but surely when they do negotiate with each other a common sense approach would be the team finishing the season, with a deadline to do so, takes primacy.
Again, to me, that is common sense, and they should be working together and helping one another, but I am just naive.

I suspect strongly that there's a mitigating circumstances clause
Would they say allowing another team to ruin your pitch (twice) as mitigating? I would say it was stupidity.
If both times a football match couldn't take place on it then the rugby shouldn't have been allowed.
-
I normally try and stay positive regarding the club but I think the communication from them has taken a nose-dive recently.
Latics must be liaising with Halifax so it would be helpful to fans to know what ideas are being banded about, whether an option of an alternative venue has been discussed, if and when there is a pitch inspection etc.
Basically anything rather than radio silence.

Do you remember us fans singing "John Kettley is a weatherman and so is Michael Fish"
No-one really knew the words of the song apart for the above line and just belted that out at the top of their voices.
Happy , innocent days

Can't just not play if the pitch is good to go on the day.
Yes but I don't think you can say that is good to go. It must have been 50/50 to play even for rugby so I think common sense should come into the considerations for playing the game.
-
As this is the start of the rugby season and plenty of time to complete their fixtures and the football season has a deadline to finish why are they allowing this?
-
I don't think an empty stand contributes to negatively impact on the players. Once they are playing they should not even notice the stands. Also there tends to be 6,000 plus in the other three to make it feel cosy
Lots of clubs especially lower league ones have empty stands and Oxford United play towards a car park!!! Wrexham had a pile of rubble for one end as well for most of their last season in NL.
Also if it did you could counter balance it with the new Joe Royle Stand that has adequate numbers in there, so get the players to look at that.
Not a single member of the playing and coaching staff will know any different regarding changing rooms etc.
I agree though about trying to find reasons for why we are so bad at home. I have give up trying though and conclude we are cursed, simple as that.

Just about to set off for the full matchday experience.
Going to get drenched walking to tram. Dry off a bit in Manchester.
Going to get drenched getting to Altrincham. Dry off a bit in Altrincham.
Going to get drenched walking to the ground. Going to get even more drenched watching the match.
Please Latics make my attempt to get the flu worthwhile!!!!

Also it is on TV so hopefully the players don't want to show everyone how bad they can be.
Can they?

Only two crucial decisions went against us today.
The decision to kick off and the decision to come back out for the second half.

Some interview though, I'm actually staggered he's been allowed anywhere near one before given the tripe he's spouted.
"We've got ourselves in a position where we can turn the season in to a successful one".
Really? Did he do this interview 5 games ago?.
"I think we are going in the right direction".
He doesn't seem convinced.
"We strive for consistency in performance and results".
Spectacular fail on that front then, infact I'd go as far to claim the thing he strives for most is our achilles heel.
"Squad which on paper should be competing but was struggling at the bottom".
Not entirely true, we were seven unbeaten in between Rhino going and Mellon coming in, 4 wins and 3 draws including a win away at Altrincham in the Cup so the suggestion we were a lost cause is frankly bollocks.
"We've been saying for weeks now that we don't want to be relying on results that other teams get".
That's exactly were we are at now though isn't it and reaching the playoffs is no longer in our own hands.
"Obviously it's nice when you look at results and your competitors drop points ".
Nobodies dropping more than us at the minute.
"I believe fitness and consistency are getting closer together each week"
Nice to know the fitness is coming along - nearly six months in to their tenure, as for consistency the only thing we are consistent at is being inconsistent.
I know pre match interviews are something nobody wants to do but that one there is about as car crash as it gets.
It sounds bad, I honestly don't listen to them because as I said it's all waffle and trying to put a positive spin on things. Also if he was brutally honest and slagged the players off people would say that he should keep those thoughts in-house.

Today is the first "must win" of the run-in for me. Gives slightly better hindsight to an away point at a beach-ready Dagenham but more importantly picks up three points from a round of fixtures where other sides around us are facing each other (Solihull, Barnet, Halifax, Rochdale, Gateshead) or are away at sides scrapping for points in a tight relegation block (Aldershot, Altrincham, Southend, Bromley).
A few of these go our way and the giddiness begins again ahead of Monday.
If I have to go to Halifax (unfortunately sober) with nothing to play for but finishing above Rochdale or something asinine, I'm booing for 90 mins.
90 mins!! I admire your resolve to stick it out until the end

Brabin said it wrong in one of the very few interviews he does. I have checked and it didn't quite make it into the top ten crimes of the century
My god, come on, we all know what he was meaning he just said it wrong!!!
I don't know why people get so annoyed with these interviews. It's all mainly waffle which you're slated for or brutal honesty.... which you are slated for.

I think the short deadline is so they can get some money in quick and as someone else mentioned gauge the uptake and plan the spending in the future.
They have pitched it about right, if a little low in my opinion and they had to put the money up as all costs generally will go up in April.
You can't really gripe at the price as a season ticket in the NL, although the product you are getting for it may not make it worth it
We have all got to try to stick with it, but if you don't want to that's your choice, no problem from me.

I would think a lot of people have booked a train to Halifax. So are they going to put on buses from Halifax station to wherever it's being played?
