The fitness is an odd one because DU said they would be super fit after the pre season with him and I have it on good authority that it was indeed a bit gruelling as was the personal fitness regime each player had prior to coming back for pre season.
Perhaps it may have been gruelling but not necessarily effective? I’m not qualified to make a judgement but curious nonetheless.

Interestingly, Clemence was on the "guests" list for Rochdale's game in midweek. Could be reading too much into it, but could he have been scouting Rochdale ahead of our game...?

I assume no rumours, no sightings in Costa? Nobody ITK?

Does this mean the head of recruitment isn't impressed with the recruitment already made...?
I suspect it does and there’s nothing particularly wrong with that. All leagues are littered with players that looked good playing for another team then fail to impress after you acquire them.

Well I'll put it out there now after watching us Tuesday and tonight, I don't think Thompson is the man for the job, in successive games we've played deeper and deeper and deeper, it's Unsworthesque at the minute, I appreciate it's the same players but there was no intent at all today to play further up the pitch or press the ball, fucking none and that's criminal against Wealdstone, they were fucking wank but played us off the park at times.
Sutton, Shelton, Hogan, Sheron all fucking awful for 90 minutes, Green didn't beat his man once today, Kitching hardly crossed the half way line, Willoughby parked out on the left totally ineffective again, but special mention for Hudson today who sucked the fucking life out of us, If him slowing the game down was planned then it's a sad state of affairs against a team of fucking builders.
Thompson wouldn't be for me from what I've seen we go backwards every team I see them. I know we've picked up points but we've been battered the last twice off teams at the bottom end of the division and looked fucking clueless at times.
Thompson may not be the man for you but he’s working with the same players as you say and has improved the results. Todays performance did sound Unsworthesque and I think the next two games will decide his fate.

Will be interesting this after Clarke going elsewhere. Mellon and Gateshead manager still possibles for me but doubt us paying for anyone.
Thompson probably the favourite at the moment I would think. Next two games will have a bearing on it I expect.
Cowley bros anyone?

Not sure what's wrong with people. We know there's improvements to be made, that's why a new manager is being recruited. But we've accrued more points in the last four games than we'd got in the previous 9.
Exactly that.

I said before the game I’d settle for a draw today but I’m disappointed with hearing how poorly we played.

We only took 270 or so to Bromley but that was in the Unsworth era! As I’ve moaned about elsewhere, there is almost zero engagement by the club regarding away games so no idea what the turnout will be
Out of curiosity Rich what would “engagement by the club regarding away games” look like apart from perhaps earlier warning of ticketing for Dale/Fylde

I think he was probably my favourite for the job. It will be easier to get what is deemed ‘success’ there than at Latics. Probably better paid too.

Honest offer? Well if it happens, just do it. Why announce something that's so unlikely to happen unless it's for attention?
Is doing good for others and mentioning it on line to feel good worse than doing nothing at all?
Just curious what you think.

Playing Gardner as much as they have and his subsequent breakdown may send a message to the board that we do need additions to the midfield but I suspect they’ll wait until Lundstrom is fit along with Ward. The Freeman issue is a strange one because he seems to have disappeared without a mention.

I'm presuming he feels they may be swaying towards a new man given him going all in during the post match interview yesterday, if it was Mellon, Clarke or Williamson I'd still favour one of those three. If it was Clemence or someone else wanting their first go at it I'd be disappointed. He's done himself no harm but if he continues to keep selecting Shelton and Nuttall I'd begin to get worried.
I agree with this too.

The only thing it proves is that there are no easy games for us in this league because we’re not a very good team.
