I think that AL has started to spend money on the little details like the pitch at Chapel road and BP as part of the bigger picture. It shows some collegiality between him and the coaching staff it means thst AL is listening to them. RW has said that he really struggled at times to even run training at the backend of the season.
We've had players on trail that didn't sign for us because of details like this (The lad from Plymouth who's name escapes me for one). It's a positive statement of intent to start to put things right like the state of both pitches. We are in a climate where players and agents ultimately decide where they will end up, not the club anymore. We need to advertise ourselves and by sorting the finer details like the playing surface and training facilities could be the difference between ourselves and other clubs at this level signing a decent player or two.
The signings will come.
There are big decisions to be made on some of the lads that have been linked elsewhere e.g. Byrne, Hunt and Gardner.
If they do go we know that we need to find replacements first and foremost, then start padding the rest of the squad. I'm not worried... yet. If we get 6 weeks down the line with very little then I may feel a bit differently.

I've watched a few league 2 matches over the years as my mate is a Luton fan and I occasionally tagged along when we were away and Luton were in the north. I've seen the sublime to the ridiculous. The fact is the quality of football is ridiculously erratic were you'll see a passage of play akin to Clayton playing fields in the middle of winter and from nowhere , someone will do something worthy of winning a world cup final. There are more 'individual' players that drive teams in this division. The teams with a more solid team mentality usually do well. If we can draft a TEAM rather than individuals then we have a very good chance of a successful season.

Kean would be a fantastic acquisition. I'm guessing his loan deal runs at the end of the month so probably why he's still here receiving physio as he's still technically with us. However, he genuinely seems to like being an Oldham player. He isn't going to walk into Citeh's team any time soon and if he feels some affinity with us he may opt to stay. Could we be sbout to witness the rare creature that is a loyal footballer?

We've a shocking pile of centre backs. Stones makes me ill. 50mil. Jesus wept
Agreed. We are lacking an old hand at the back. If you think of the wealth of CBs we've had over the years this batch don't seem to have inherited the legacy of those before them YET. We basically are a top heavy team that will probably concede loads but hopefully score loads. We might be entertaining to watch at least in that respect.

Is it only me that thinks the one shining light in that squad is that there's no Smalling? Trouble is, Phil Jones is there.
I'd say Phil Jones is marginally less prone to fuck ups than Smalling. When I watch Smalling play for England I develop the same twitchy eye than when we had Brill in goal.

Why the thoughtful face TBD?

Ashley Young is absolutely and truly an awful player. He can run in a straight line with the ball but has no end product. He can't tackle. Oh and he's a knob to boot.
Not much to like there.

Is it 70% discount this Saturday?
That's the impression the girls who work in the shop gave me.

Echoes of my ex wife coming back from a shopping trip. Never how much she'd spent, always how much money she'd saved me.
That's pretty much role reversal and how I broached the situation with the Mrs!!!

Went in yesterday and managed to furnish my lad for training kit for probably the next 4 years! Plus footballs for 75p. Craziness. The girls who work there where adamant that they weren't closing down contrary to rumours here there and everywhere. Still saved a grand total of 284 quid!

Don't think I've ever played a game on championship manager 01/02 with him on the other team when he hasn't scored. Him and Stuart Barlow. Shits
Absolute bastards. Plus the fact that he was so bloody loyal to his cub that he wouldn't sign for you so he'd just score constantly passed you whilst probably flicking the Vs as he did it.

Can't be any worse than Lincoln V Exeter. Very poor game of football. Talking of big Units, those who mentioned us signing Matt Rhead, jeez. He looks like he's been on the pies for a good few years now!

Didn't Hector Sam also score 4 for Wrexham in one game against us?
Ugh I hated Hector Sam. He broke my season long unbeaten run on premier manager 97/98 on the last day of the season. I was 13. Bastard. Then i tried to sign him and he wouldn't join. Double bastard.

Hi mods. I know this isn't connection speed related but the username thread is archived. I have an issue when signing in. I usually sign in with Facebook and my old account used to appear which is the one I usually sign in with as Chris Richard. However, I've changed my phone and when I sign in with Facebook now it takes me to another account that I don't use under username Chris Richard with no space. Any ideas why?
TIA

Am hearing from a Pompey fan that Peter Clarke has been arrested because of the crowd trouble. Is this true?

Quality player. Pisses all over Ruddy and Wilson.
-
Why have we been pissing around with second rate GKs? He's way better than the other two.

City fans rated Rusnak, and quite rightly too.
He showed promise in half a game, threw his toys out of the prom and was gone less than 2 weeks later.
There will always be that risk with young lads.
True, get the feeling this one sounds a little more grounded than Rucksack though. Anyway, I guess time will tell.

Expect Placide, Byrne, Doyle and Bryan to start.
Could do with some pace and energy at the back as well.
Placide
McLaughlin
Wilson
Clarke
Gerrard
Hunt
Gardner
Bryan
Byrne
Doyle
Davies
I expect that, although I'd rather we saw Stott play in one of the centre back places.
Isn't Ryan Mc on int duty?

Looks lively. Lots of citeh fans seem to rate him. Looking better already.

A bit of much needed clarity to settle the neurotic rumours. Better from the club. Now it's time to kick on. I'm happy with the recent signings, hopefully a bit of life injected, with three points on Saturday, will be like we can start the season proper now.
-
Terrible news. Hope all concerned find suitable employment as soon as.

All the are we aren't we getting new money must be doing Shez's head in - does he go for bargain basement players and be stuck with them for the season or does hr wait for the possible new money.
I think it's down to what ever happens this week in terms of investment/ ownership. We have lots of injuries so what ever type of player Shez brings in will depend on investment or lack of. May see some youth loans if no new money. Be interesting to see what happens before the deadline.

Hearing the club has been sold.
Isn't this something we were already aware of? It was surely just a matter of who?

Finally something to be excited about. He's kept himself fit, he'll be rejuvenated and more importantly he'll be desperate to prove himself. Hopefully a few more to come in, even if it means a few out and we're laughing. A keeper and a recognised striker and we are good to go.
