According to Spanish newspaper AS, Ronaldo's exact message to Madrid was as follows: "It's OK. Next week, I'll fix everything. I'll go to Manchester and tell them my only desire is to play for Real Madrid and that the decision is non-negotiable." Sir Alex Ferguson has publicly stated Ronaldo will not be leaving United but he could be put in a very difficult position if Ronaldo returns to Manchester demanding a transfer. AS claims Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes was under strict instructions to tell Real his client remains determined to join them. Diego_Sideburns
Taggart has said he will play him in the stiffs if necessary, and Ronaldo is worried that his path might cross with Gregan's in a friendly encounter.
pukka
If that is true his value drops cos he doesn't want to stay with United.
ste1987
I can see Man Utd sticking to their guns here for the time being anyway. I think we will see another season of Ronaldo at Manchester United and if anything he will go next year.
OldhamSheridan
He can't stick him in the reserves. It enables some European led clause which means he can buy out his contract after a certain amount of time (a few months). That'd be Ronaldo for about twenty million then. So that's why we've abandoned the Reserve team - obviously this rule does not apply to friendlies!
