Something in between I would think, (if my Dad was a professional footballer for Oldham etc. I'd think it was cool for someone to say well done etc.) saying something like sorry to disturb you with your family Mr. Allot but I'm a massive fan of Oldham and I want to say you did a great job last season and I hope your form continues this season.

That would be funny in a posh accent as well. You are right you would rather somebody speak to you normally.
