Guest M_OAFC
Just wondered if any other Latics are intending to go to the National League Finals Day at Warrington on Sunday to hopefully cheer the Roughyeds on to promotion? If so I thought it might be nice to try and get tickets for the same stand and meet up for a few beers before or after. In fact, if there are enough of us it might even be worth sorting out a minibus if anybody has got any contacts in that line? Maybe get dropped off at a pub near the ground and then perhaps back to a pub in Oldham afterwards to watch the Plastics v Citeh on Sky. Or at very least I'm sure we can organise some car shares in order to maximise the number of people that are not behind a wheel and thus able to have a drink! Standing tickets are £14 behind the posts or £15 down the side of the pitch and Oldham's game kicks off at 1.30pm. If you would be interested in something like this reply to this thread and we'll see what the numbers are like and take it from there. For those that don't know the details there are 3 games taking place one after the other, with Oldham's game taking place 2nd. Your ticket admits you to all 3 games if you wish but you can arrive later if you don't fancy the first game and you don't have to stay for the last one either. The first game is the Rugby League Conference Grand Final which kicks off at 11am. This league was originally for clubs outside the traditional heartland of the game with the hope being that some would develop well enough to be ready to apply for National League 2 (Oldham's current division) which is exactly what London Skolars have done. That is still the main aim of the league but it does now also include some teams from the more traditional strongholds of the game and Celtic Crusaders now have their colts team in there as well. Promotion is by application only so this match is just to decide this years champions of the competition rather than to step up a rung on the ladder. The teams in action are Bramley Buffaloes and Celtic Crusaders Colts. Oldham are next up kicking off at 1.30pm against Doncaster Dragons in the National League 2 Play Off Final. The winners will be promoted to National League 1. And lastly at 4pm it's Celtic Crusaders v Salford City Reds in the National League 1 Grand Final. Of Course with the new Super League licensing system there is no longer any promotion at stake in this match, it is just to determine the champion team of the competition. In fact both of these teams will appear in Super League in 2009 having both won licences. Personally I'm not fussed about watching either of the other 2 games besides Oldham but if we did have a minibus or something and other people wanted to see one or both of the other games then I'd happily go with the flow. Matt
I would've liked to have gone to the whole shebang, but I'm at a training seminar in Bury and my mate might be getting his black belt. I have to support him - cos he's bricking it. Puff.
