Diego_Sideburns
Kelly Groucutt, the bass player for ELO between 1974 and 1983, died this afternoon in hospital in Worcester, after suffering a heart attack (age 63). His distinctive voice can be best heard on ELO songs such as "Nightrider" (1975), "Poker" (1975), "Above The clouds" (1976), "Sweet Is The Night" (1977), and "The Diary of Horace Wimp" (1979). Nightrider on TOTP 1975, singing (wearing green) with Jeff Lynne. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvvKIl9rUs4...feature=related He had taken part in some of the many ELO spin-off groups. He had been touring worldwide with The Orchestra (Former members of ELO and ELO Part II) and also toured as part of a local, little known band called Session 60. RIP Kelly. opinions4u
Gawd all the people I admired as a kid are dropping off. Jeff Lynne's perm was awesome, as was his ability to significantly overproduce every recording he ever made! outoftheblue
A fabulous ground-breaking group with a unique style. KG was a major factor of their success. Another sad loss for music.
