Tanning Devices: Latest warning

It would be great if those of you who mix with/associate with/go out with/see girls and young women, would spell out the message that the risk of skin melanoma is increased by 75% when use of tanning devices starts before 30 years of age. The more delicate skin of under-18s using sunbeds puts them at even greater risk. The UV rays from sunbeds can be 10 to 15 times stronger than the midday sun, and when the tan fades, you still face lifelong skin damage.

 

Obviously it also applies to older women and to all blokes too, but young women are the category who think tanning is necessary to attract blokes. Tell 'em to use artificial tan instead .

 

Burnt skin is damaged skin. My Mum is 99 and in good health, except for suffering from skin melanomas caused by sun-bathing when she was in her mid-forties.

 

The Sunbed Association disagrees with scientific findings that both UVA and UVB rays can cause tumours but, to adapt that famous quote of Mandy Rice-Davies during the Profumo scandal, well they would, wouldn't they?.

 

You know it makes sense and you could save a life by passing on the message.

I would have thought having a face like a leather handbag at forty may dissaude them, but maybe this'll do the trick. I wouldn't have thought so as many ladies have a 'must look good' above all else attitude - see high heels.
