fanatic
This is a really good debate. If you were to go back a long time then Alan Williams would be my number one. And if paired with Earl Barrett then Latics would probably have conceded nine goals all season. I am deeply worried about this season. Gregan and Hazell have absolutely no understanding and when you bring into the argument the ridiculous number of times they get into a pantomime scenario with the goalkeeper the portents for disaster are dire. 5-3 and 4-2 could be regular scorelines - for and against. Well said Fanatic... the greatest ever at Boundary Park in my time and that is a long time - Alan Williams, what a fantastic player and a Latic through and through. (Good old days eh ?) Probably worth around £20m at today's valuations I would guess.... I'm also worried about Gregan, not just Gregan the pairing with Hazell makes it worse I think as neither of them have any pace at all, Mr Penney will have seen that already, hopefully he sorts it and hopefully we have a good season for a change.
