lemars
So west ham move into a council built ground on cheap . (olympic stadium) Offer really cheap season tickets and mach day offers in a desperate bid to fill it . Smaller Local League One club ( leyton orient) suffer as fans choose the bigger better football , for a little bit more money , and small club slowly deteriorates. Three house points for who can tell me where thats happened before! http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...mer-horror.html Edited January 26, 2010 by lemars

Diego_Sideburns
Some may not know that when Manchester first applied to hold the Commonwealth Games, the submitted proposal included using BP for the hockey tournament on a plastic pitch. This was after we had returned to grass and meant digging up the pitch and going back to plastic. After the Games the plasitic would be dug up and the pitch returned to grass. We would not be allowed to play on the plastic and would have to wait for the grass pitch to become established. Meanwhile we were going to play our home games in the Commonwealth Stadium in Manchester.

Diego_Sideburns
IIRC that was the Olympic bid. You may well be correct, but it was the same intention.
