Trust Oldham Chairman Update

Last week after on-going consultation with several Trust Directors, Trust Chairman Barry Owen tendered his resignation from the role of Chairman of the Trust board which has been officially accepted by the board.

He has been assessing the decision to step down from the role for some time for a number of reasons.

Barry has been an influential member of the Trust since it was created and has served both the Trust and the club with distinction since then. The enormous amount of work he has done since taking office stands as a testament to his passion for Oldham Athletic and his desire to see the club rebuild from the dark days of 2003 when the club almost went out of business.

The Trust board would like to place on record its thanks to Barry for this work and also the support he has shown fellow board members, past and present, over the past 12 years.

Moving forward the Trust board are taking this opportunity to assess all aspects of Trust Oldham, taking into account fan opinions, with the view to having a clear and renewed structure in time for the AGM in April.

There have been many changes at the club and the Trust over the past 12 years, for example the appointment of a Fans Liaison Officer at the club, and it is vital the Trust structure, communication and work reflects the present situation.

An interim Chairman will be announced for the period up to the AGM.

Last week was a unique event and we would again like to thank all those Oldham fans who voiced their opinions, on both sides of the debate, who wrote and spoke with passion and reasoning both privately and in the public arena. We would also like to take this opportunity to again praise the staff at Oldham Athletic who, at times, were the subject of vile and disgraceful attacks which we utterly condemn.

It is our hope that, whatever your views, we can now all get back to supporting Lee Johnson and the team in what promises to be an exciting run-in.

Further announcements will follow over the coming weeks.
