  1. "Rochdale have a decent surface now thanks to Spurs." Sorry to inform you but that was a rumour that Spurs had anything to do with our pitch - they didn't contribute financially. It just needed doing before we played them. We had it relaid at a similar time during last season, even though we weren't playing Spurs.
  2. Well you never know, we might come good, there have been signs recently. Never thought we would beat Millwall. We could escape the drop yet - stranger things have happened.
  3. Hello all - Dale fan here, we are laying a new pitch ready for our cup tie with Spurs next Sunday. It has been a fiasco although I believe some pitches local to us are not too far off being as bad. However in spite of all the hype in the press the pitch played reasonably well last Tuesday - it looked a lot worse than it was and nobody got injured and it was not a risk to players' careers. Even Millwall didn't complain about the playing surface (just complained about our fans). Part of me wanted to play Spurs on that same sandy surface, it might have been an advantage to us. Anyway we are getting a quick fix to tide us over until the Summer then a complete overhaul will be needed. See you all in April - it could be a relegation battle!
  4. Our season hasn't been a flash in the pan. We were 10th last season and 8th the season before. Do you not remember? You are finishing below us for the third season on the run.
  5. Andrew didn't go looking for him either. Clark is a good defender there's no argument. And he likes to wind players up, fair enough. Like I said in another thread, Calvin is usually perfectly behaved. His conduct yesterday is typical. He had a mad (unforgivable) moment at the beginning of the season for which he was rightly punished. Ironically his cheekbone was broken after Christmas - he missed a few matches as a result. I don't know anyone who condones what he did to Clark. However he is one of Hill's 'broken toys' that has come good and has become a fans' favourite.
  6. Very good - but that photo of Camps and Mendez. It's not Mendez, its Reuben Noble Lazarus.
  7. Funny acoustics at Boundary Park because we couldn't hear anything from the opposite end. We were making a lot of noise too but you probably didn't hear it.
  8. Yep, I will be happy if Blackburn and Wigan come down, with Oldham and Bury staying up. Great to have so many northern teams to play against. I don't know any Rochdale fans who condone Calvin's actions to be honest. Just a few kids trying to provoke you today. Calvin is a very popular player and his behaviour towards Clarke was outrageous and totally out of character. If Henderson or Lund had done that then we would have been less surprised! You did well in the second half with your change of tactics. We were running around like headless chickens at one point. We still have a very slight chance of playoffs but nobody is expecting us to get there and we will be well happy if we finish 7th or 8th. It's been a good season for us.
  9. Not 'smacks who he wants" it was 'tw*ts who he wants'. I didn't join in with that btw. No excuses for what he did. However he behaved impeccably today like the usual Calvin. The reason he got his 12 match ban reduced to 9 matches was apparently because Clarke put in a good word for him. Like I said, well done for getting the draw, and glad you're staying up.
  10. Just to put the record straight, Calvin Andrew is not an unpleasant chap, and what he did to Clarke was completely out of character. He very rarely even gets booked. So I don't know what provoked him although his assault on Clarke was indefensible and Dale fans are in agreement with that. A very entertaining game which saw us well on top in the first half. We really should have scored a second whilst we were on top, unfortunately it wasn't the case and we went into the second half with too much complacency and silly errors which resulted in us conceding. However, apart from that goal, our keeper never really looked threatened all game. The substitution of Keane, Bunney and Andrew were apparently due to injuries and didn't help us at all. Well done for keeping your League 1 status and I think you will do well next season if Sheridan continues to build on the success he has had so far. Look forward to the next time.
