Chesterfield b2net stadium, 1866 Sheffield Road, Whittington Moor, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, S41 8NZ.

Built at a cost of £13m, the new 10,400 capacity all-seater stadium is located approx one and a half miles north of the town centre.
The main entrance will shortly be flanked by two tall and thin stainless steel sculptures, which will represent the twisted spire of St Mary’s church, an image which also adorns the new club crest and gives the club its nickname 'Spireites'.

The stadium has sufficient capacity at present, but if the club fulfills its ambitions to play at Championship level, it will be expanded, most likely by building new stands in the open corners.

Away supporters are mostly housed in the Rubicon Print Stand at the north end of the stadium, where up to 2,112 supporters can be seated. If demand requires it then additional seating can also be made available in the Midlands Co-operative Community Stand. The concourse facilities include large flat-screen TVs and bars.

Visiting fans must walk past the HTM Products Stand to reach the Rubicon Print Stand.

NOTE: Cash is not accepted at the turnstiles, as entrance is by ticket only. Away fans can purchase their tickets from the small portacabin located outside the Printability (Away) Stand.

Disabled facilities:
Disabled supporters’ vantage points are pitch-side. Where it is established that a disabled person requires personal support to attend a match and access the services provided, the club will allow a personal assistant to be admitted without charge on condition they provide support to the disabled supporter as required.

How to get there:

NOTE: As the first match in January is on a Bank Holiday, public transport may be subject to a reduced schedule.

By Car:
Either set your sat-nav to S41 8NZ (check your maps are updated first) or, if not updated, set it to S41 8LF, which may work better and avoid confusion.

From The North West & East:

From the M1 motorway: Leave the motorway at junction 30 at Balborough signposted Chesterfield. At the roundabout take the first exit, and in about a quarter of a mile reach another roundabout. Take the 4th exit signpost Staveley/ Chesterfield A619 and drive past McDonalds on your left and cross over the motorway. Warning: Speed cameras on this road, so take it easy! Follow the A619 through Mastin Moor and towards Staveley.

At the roundabout take the first exit and follow the A619 through Staveley towards Brimington.

In Brimington (speed cameras!) follow the A619 round the large island, keep in the left-hand lane and follow the signs to Chesterfield. At the bottom of Brimington Hill, drive straight towards Sainsbury’s. At this roundabout keep in the left-hand lane and follow the A619 towards Tesco. At the Tesco roundabout take the 3rd exit straight past the new Hotel Casa and Gordon Lamb garage on the left. At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit and drive along the B6057 Sheffield Road. You should be able to see the stadium on your left just past the Tesco entrance.

From Sheffield:
Follow the A61 towards Chesterfield. At the large roundabout take the right hand lane and take the 4th exit the B6057. Follow the road past the Derby Tup pub for around 0.5 of a mile. The Stadium is on your left.

From The South & East:
From the M1. Leave the motorway at Junction 29. At the roundabout take the second exit A617 dual carriageway for about 7 miles. At the end of the A617 get in the right hand lane and at the roundabout take the 4th exit onto the A61 north dual carriageway. At the next roundabout take the first exit at the Tesco roundabout with the Gordon Lamb garage on the left. At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit and drive along the B6057 Sheffield Road. You should be able to see the stadium on the left just past the Tesco entrance.

From the A61:
Follow the A61 Derby Road. (Warning: Speed Cameras!) towards the town centre. Pass the cinema complex and at the roundabout take the third exit to A61 dual carriageway. At the next roundabout take the first exit at the Tesco roundabout with the Gordon Lamb garage on the left. At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit and drive along the B6057 Sheffield Road. You should be able to see the stadium on the left just past the Tesco entrance.

From The South West:
Follow the A619 into Chesterfield on Chatsworth Road continue on the A619. At the Morrison's roundabout take the second exit straight over. The road splits so keep left past the Prince Of Wales and follow the road past numerous pubs and shops. The road splits again, continue past the Royal Oak. Get into the middle lane, left at the roundabout take the second exit by the KFC onto Rutland Road. At the top of Rutland Road Saltergate, turn right then immediately left on St Margarets Drive. At the end of St Margarets Drive turn right on to Cross Street then next left onto Queen Street. At the Chesterfield Arms junction turn right on to Newbold Road. Follow Newbold Road towards the town centre but keep in the left hand lane at the mini-roundabout and turn left on to the B6057 Sheffield Road for just over a mile, At the next roundabout get into the middle lane and take the second exit. The stadium is a few hundred yards just past the Tesco main entrance.

Car parking:
The club car park is for permit-holders only. There is nearby street parking available on side roads off the Sheffield road, if you arrive early enough.
The club has been notified that the following car parks should be available at varying charges: Door Distributors, Units 1-2 Pottery Lane East, S41 9BH (40 places); R Hicks & Sons, Brimington Road North, S41 9BE (30 places); and KM Furniture, on Pottery Lane, just past the stadium on Sheffield Road.
WARNING: Don't think about parking in the nearby Tesco store, as the car park is patrolled on match-days and your car may be towed away.

By Train:
Chesterfield railway station is a walk of between 20 and 30 minutes to the stadium. Alternatively, there is a taxi rank outside the station, but as traffic is likely to be slow along Sheffield Road, this could end up costing you more time and money than you thought.

On foot from the Train Station: Come out of the station and turn left. The Chesterfield Hotel will be directly ahead of you. Take the road to the right and carry on over the mini-roundabout into Brewery Street. Go up the hill and over the A61 Inner Relief Road with Chesterfield College on your right. After about 5 minutes you will reach the end of the road at the Old Post Office Restaurant. Turn right and in about a minute you will come to a mini-roundabout. Take the right turn into Sheffield Road. This road dips down, up and then down again for around 15 minutes. At the big roundabout with the car showrooms, you will see the Donkey Derby pub in front of you and the stadium further along Sheffield Road.

By Bus:
If you wish to travel to the ground by bus, a 5 minute walk from the railway station into the town centre will enable you to catch a bus from Cavendish Street. Come out of the station and turn left and follow the road to the left side of the Chesterfield Hotel. There is a footbridge over the A61 Inner Relief Road, which will take you into Corporation Street. At the end of the street you will see the museum on the left, and the famous crooked spire of St Mary’s Church directly ahead of you. Go over the zebra crossing and turn right, carry on this road, walk past Eyres furniture store and The Winding Wheel. Cavendish Street is the next turning on the left. Bus stops T1 and T2 are on the opposite side of the road. The bus will take 5-15 minutes to get to the stadium, depending on traffic

By Shuttle Bus:
Chesterfield FC's Shuttle Bus Service, in conjunction with TM Travel, will be operating for supporters travelling to the Stadium every 10 minutes from 1.30pm on a match-day or from 6.15pm for evening games. The buses run from the Goldwell Hill Car Park, Ashgate Road, Saltergate, Rose Hill, Donut Car Park, Sheffield Road, Lockoford Lane, Tesco Slip Road, B2net Stadium.

Where to drink:
Alcohol is served inside the stadium.

The nearest pub to the away end, along Sheffield Road (a five minute walk away) is the Derby Tup. It is featured in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide and normally has ten ales available. Although the pub does not serve food, the landlord has been known to allow customers to bring in food from outside.

 

Just before you reach the Derby Tup, walking from the Stadium, is the Beer Parlour on King Street North, and it's equally as good as the Derby Tup.

Further on up Sheffield Road on the right is the Travellers' Rest pub, and a little further on the left is the Red Lion pub, which is also CAMRA Good Beer Guide listed.

NOTE: Other pubs located near to the stadium such as the Rose and Crown and the Crown and Anchor, do not admit away fans. Whilst the nearby Donkey Pub which also offers food, is very busy on match-days and is predominantly for home supporters.

In the town centre is the Rutland Arms, on Stephenson Place, which is listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. If you arrive by train and walk towards the town centre, it's just on your left - the pub is next to the church with the Crooked Spire - you can't miss it! It is a very old pub and in recent years has operated as a traditional ale house with a huge range of well-kept real ales and good food as well. It welcomes home and away supporters.

Where to eat:
The Derby Tup pub mentioned above is surrounded by a selection of Tandoori, fried chicken, snack bars and fish and chip shops.
Inside the Stadium, who baked all the pies? They are sourced from Jacksons, probably the best local bakery in the town.

Oh and meant to say Diego, thanks for the tip regarding the voucher for the Good Companion pub at Pompey. 2 main meals for £8.95, and 2 free drinks. Went down a treat after a 5 hour drive!

You're welcome! I thought that would be the only bargain of the day, but to be given an own goal and three points was the icing on the cake. :grin:

Good trip, this. Very much like Scunthorpe. All being well, we'll be back in Oldham for 10pm (barring penalties).

 

Who's going? Anything like Saturday and there'll be a cracking noise. Is 400 too much to hope for, do we reckon?

anything over 100 will be a good following.
