NOTE: This information may be out-of-date in an ever-changing world.

Shrewsbury Town, Greenhous Meadow, Oteley Road, Shrewsbury, SY2 6ST

The stadium is on the outskirts of the town, with a capacity of 9,875. Away fans are located in the Pro-Vision CCTC Stand at the North end of the stadium. Leg room is good and the stands are quite steep keeping the fans close to the action and there is good height between rows. There are also large plasma screens on the concourses showing Sky Sports throughout the afternoon.

Disabled facilities:

The areas for disabled fans are high up at the very back of the stands and are accessed by lifts. With this being a new stadium, purpose-built disabled facilities have been built, including the away North Stand. Reserved wheelchair spaces, each adjacent to a fixed seat for an assistant, occupy the upper tier open platform viewing areas. These also have access to a wheelchair and an ambulant disabled toilet cubicle.

Further wheelchair spaces are provided at the front row of each stand for those supporters who would prefer not to use the lift that takes you to the upper viewing platform. Each space is provided with fold down seats to assist use by non-wheelchair users. For ambulant disabled supporters, access to the first four rows in each stand is supplemented by hand grips to help you up those steps. For those travelling by car, disabled supporters can reserve one of 32 designated disabled parking spaces, of which six are provided for away supporters, who enter the stadium via steward controlled doorways that should be marked clearly.

For any special advance requests, Shrewsbury's main telephone number is 01743 289177 Ticket Office: 01743 273943 email: info@shrewsburytown.co.uk

How to get there:

By Road:

See Post # 5 below to get from the M6 to the M54. At the end of the M54 continue onto the A5. After about seven miles, there is a traffic island which is at the junction with the A49. Bear left at this island still following the A5. At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the B4380 (Thieves Lane). Continue along Thieves Lane going straight over two roundabouts and this will lead you into Oteley Road, where the stadium is on the left.

Parking:

There is a large car park at the stadium, holding almost 700 cars, however, this is for permit holders only which have to be booked in advance.

WARNING: In theory you're far enough outside the town centre to get street parking, but in practice you'll struggle as there is a controlled parking zone specific to match days on Oteley Road, Sutton Road and Sutton Estate, as well as on the nearby Retail Park. So if you do try street parking, keep a close eye on what the signage says - even if it may look at first glance to be legal, the match-day regulations may mean that it's not - there are a lot of complaints regarding supporters getting ticketed. Fans parking at the end of Sutton Road, near to the main Oteley Road, with no yellow Lines and no obvious indication of a parking restriction, have found parking tickets on their cars after the game.

There is also a car park at the Meole Brace Bowling Club, Meole Rise (Off Upper Road, SY3 9JF) for a charge of £5 per car and the Club has a bar.

Shrewsbury offer a number of park and ride schemes. These are situated at The Shirehall (Abbey Foregate); The Shirehall Overflow Car Park, and Harlescott Park and Ride Site. However you should note that the last option is only being used for higher profile matches, and so in reality the Shirehall options may be better for you. Pick-ups are around once every 15 minutes from 1.00p.m. (weekend matches) and 6.15p.m. (midweek matches) with the Shirehall being around 2.7 miles from the stadium. Parking is free but you pay £3.00 from the town centre and £2.50 from The Shirehall for the return bus journey. Children accompanied by adults will be charged £1.00.

For any fans wanting to make a full day of a Saturday at Shrewsbury, it is recommended to use the Meole Brace Park & Ride site. It is only a 10-15 minute walk from the ground and is well signposted from the A5. For £1.60 per passenger (return ticket), people can park at the site, catch a bus into Shrewsbury town centre, find plenty of food and drink outlets, and then catch a return bus back to the site. Journey time between 10-15 minutes depending on traffic volumes. Please note that parking is provided for those using the Park & Ride and not for matchday parking.

Parking is available in the town centre at Kingsland Bridge Co, Murivance and National Car Parks Ltd, Wyle Cop, both of which are situated around a mile from Oteley Road.

By Train:

Shrewsbury train station is around two miles away from the stadium. So it should take around 40 minutes to walk. Shrewsbury train station is served by trains from Birmingham New Street, Manchester Piccadilly, Crewe and Newport (Gwent).

By Bus:

From the town centre bus station about 300 yards from the train station (service numbers 8, 16, 23, 25 & 544/546 all stop near to the stadium).

Or there's no reason why you can't use the above park and ride facility given that it's based on individual passengers rather than car owners.

On Foot:

If you want to walk the two miles to the stadium, then this is the route to take. From Shrewsbury Town Centre, proceed to the English Bridge and at the first set of traffic lights, turn right into Coleham Head. Continue on the main road which is Belle Vue Road and Hereford Road, until you reach the BP Garage on your left, which is close to Meole Brace Roundabout. From Meole Brace Roundabout or Old Potts Way you have a choice of either using the footpaths on either side of Oteley Road or the public right of way from the underpass at the back of Meole Brace Retail Park which gives access to the stadium at the rear of the west stand. From the Sutton area use the footpath to the traffic signal controlled access road to the stadium.

Where to drink:

Alcohol is available in the stadium, but the bar closes 15 minutes before the kick-off, before opening again at half time.

There are a couple of pubs within walking distance of the stadium. Firstly there is the Brooklands Hotel, on Mill Street just off Meole Brace Island, about five minutes’ walk away. From the stadium turn left along the B4380 Oteley Road. Head around the large roundabout towards Shrewsbury Town Centre. Then turn left into Roman Road and then left again into Mill Street. The hotel is down on the right. It also has about 100 car parking spaces costing £5 each. Big screens & catering on matchdays.

The other pub (and in the opposite direction) is the Marston’s Charles Darwin; which is around a ten minute walk away. From the stadium entrance turn right along the B4380 Oteley Road. Take the second left into Sutton Road and the pub is down on the right. It charges £5 to park (there are around 70 parking places available), but you get one free drink at the bar with the parking ticket, even if it is the most expensive drink in the round, so it can be a good deal! It is said to have a good selection of ales, a very welcoming landlord and friendly local fans. Opposite the pub is the Tasty Plaice fish & chip shop.

The Peacock pub is also in Sutton Road about 200 metres further along from the Charles Darwin.

In the town centre, but on the stadium side of it, is The Prince of Wales Hotel on Bynner Street, in the Belle Vue area. It’s a CAMRA Good Beer Guide listed pub and it runs a coach to the stadium for each home game, which away supporters can use for £2.50 (if there is space)'. More information can be found on the Hotel’s website: http://www.princeofw...k/football.html

The Shrewsbury Hotel, Bridge Place, Mardol, is in the centre of town on the edge of the one series of open "squares" and car parks, is a Wetherspoon outlet, where you can stay overnight. http://www.jdwethers...hrewsbury-hotel

The Albion Vaults pub, 12 Castle Foregate is situated outside of the train station.

Where to eat:

The stadium catering is provided by a local company called Jenny’s and includes amongst other things: Burgers (£3), Cottage Pie (£2.50), Steak Pie (£2.50), Balti Pie (£2.50), Pasties (£2) and Sausage Rolls.

There is a Retail Park nearby to the stadium, which has some eating outlets such as a McDonald's, Pizza Hut and a supermarket cafe.

Just up from the BP Garage across the road from the Brooklands Hotel (see above) is the 'Flippin Fish' Fish & Chip Shop Hereford Road, Meole Brace, only a five minutes’ walk from the stadium.

Opposite the Charles Darwin pub (see above) is the Tasty Plaice fish & chip shop.

Things worth doing:

In Shrewsbury there is the Acton Burnell Castle as well as many Tudor style buildings. There is also an association with King Arthur in the area. Arthur reputedly walked the hills that are now contained within the Hawkstone Historic Park & Follies.

Charles Darwin was born here, and Robert Clive (of India fame) was Mayor and M.P. There's a museum dedicated to him to prove it.

Reckon we'll be okay paying on the gate................................?!!

Reckon Scunny will lose at play-off chasing Dongs, and Shrews will be safe after a draw/win against Colchester, so this probably will be tepid goalless warm-up for the holidays!

Looking forward to it though.
