  1. 'Decline in our local paper' ?? I don't think it does too bad (in fact I know it doesn't circulation wise, especially compared to papers in similar sized towns...who don't even have a daily paper).

V true, no local daily paper in my area and the weekly, Watford Observer, is just an excuse for advertisements, with a page or two on Watford FC if they are lucky.

Oldham should be proud of its Evening Chron. (Most of the time ;))

  2. Perhaps you are the one who could teach him?

    OK I'll have a go.

"Now then lad, you've done great to get yourself infront of goal 3 yards out with no-one between you and the net. Now imagine Hughsey is standing at the back of the net, just pass the ball to him. Like you would if he was the one with the goal scoring chance!"

    What could be simpler.

Seriously though, I do appreciate the fact that he is getting into goal scoring positions, he's just so ***** frustrating.

  3. It says "tangerine will stay as the second change strip", ie it will become 3rd choice.

I vote KEEP TANGERINE as 1st choice away kit.(but NEVER with white shorts)

  4. the fact that in summer if they want to sunbathe in there back garden they are going to be overlooked by someone either looking out of an 8 storey window or hotel room.

What the Channel M reporter should have done was confront Hardy with the residents ill informed complaints and let him answer them.

Like the wild guess that there aren't enough parking places for the new residents, he should have looked at the plans, there are, I've counted them.

Like the statement that there is no coach parking area, he should have looked at the plans, there is.

Edhunter you are as bad as the residents. More misinformation!

The hotel will not overlook any existing houses. Look at the plans and the artist impressions, it only overlooks the new flats.

No one is going to be able to see Mrs Nimby in her bikini. Look at the plans and the artist impressions, the 8 story blocks of flats either overlook the pitch or other new flats or the Clayton pitches, or are opposite the Hotel. The flats nearest to the residents were never the tallest ones and they have now been made even lower in the latest plan.

And as far as edhunter's other comment "when this is fully finished there is going to be constant traffic noise " they live next to Broadway and a retail park don't they, what do they hear now??

  5. I must be well 'ard.

I turned up at 1/2 time for my 1st visit to the New Den (thought it was near the old one) . I told them I was a Latics fan and was let in through the reception and was escorted by a :censored: to a seat on the side of the ground, by the time I realised I was surrounded by Millwall supporters he'd gone.

It was a nothing game as far as I remember but the Millwall lot were up out of their seats getting really worked up and baying for blood over nothing for most of the 1/2. I can well understand how they went mental today when they had something real to get worked up about.

  6. I always assumed the conferencing would be linked to the hotel, they go hand in hand.

Hand in hand but in different buildings.

TTA say they are doing all this development to bring in year round money. A bit more income from exec boxes and few more pies and pint sold on matchday won't do that.

The CLUB needs a steady income from all of the new facilities: offices, hotel, banqueting, conference centre, health club, shops, Main stand bars (open every day) etc

TTA hold most of the shares in the club so they will take a dividend payment, once their are profits. Mind you, after spending most of the income on new players there wont be any profit, but at least TTA wont be forking out £x,000 a week to keep the club going. Or doesn't a Ltd Cmpany work like that?

  7. The key worker flats were also reported to be suitable only for health workers, not sure why that should be but it could be that they don't have any car park spaces.

I only counted 550ish on the plan (their are 553 residential units and 140 key worker units) Don't tell the residents though, they will be complaining about there not being enough parking spaces on the plan and that people will be parking outside their houses.

  8. Surely this is libellous against all of the Latics directors.

It is very regrettable that the directors instead of getting on with resolving the committee's concerns, instead have taken advantage of the fans loyalty and love of the club and used them to launch a quite vicious and unwarranted personal attack on myself in particular, which has lead to both myself and family being subjected to the most appalling abuse."

  9. Has this guy even looked at the plans.

THe only 8 story block is the one that partially overlooks the corner of the ground in between the Chaddy and the Broadway stands. It will not be seen from neither the houses on Furtherwood road nor the bungalows, in fact its height would be totally in keeping with that of the New Stands when viewed from the Broadway.

And why does everyone have to drive to work, are public transport and shanks's pony no longer an option in Oldham.

What about the reduced number of cars on the surrounding roads due to hospital staff living in the key worker housing!
