  1. I've not been yet this year due to to holidays etc but already it seems like just another copy and paste from the majority of the last 17 odd seasons spent in this dreadful division.

Is there anything any different? Are there any glimmers of hope that this season can be anything other than what we all know and hate??

Please tell me it ain't so.....

  2. Well done to those who have logged in and apologised when the majority of their fans didn't feel it necessary. We can't know the history of every ground we visit it's only when the oldies speak up at the time that we truely understand.

Makes you wonder how many near misses us latics fans had in that era....occasionally I have the odd flash back of places like Blackburn one sunny day when us latics fans couldn't get into the ground and we were stuck outside for KO. We were singing outside letting the players know where we we were and thank god, when we got through the turnstyle, there was no tunnel into the pens....we we right on the terrace. I dred to think otherwise

Then I think the other one was stokes old ground with a side terrace that went down below the level of the pitch..if there was a rush forward then again I could have been a gonner.

The other one was Maine rd, but that may have something to do with me in their home end and tommy wright scoring two goals...took my life into my own hands trying to keep my gob shut on those goals.

And don't get me started on police horses and if you dare stepped off the kerb as you were being shuffled to away grounds.

Think Someone said on a thread going back a few seasons that it could have been us at Hillsborough if we hadn't lost an earlier game

It's actually unbelievably shocking at how we as football fans take our life into our hands by just going to watch a football game. Just as shocking is the way we are treated like cattle and sub :censored:ing human because of our passion.

No other section of society gets treated the way we do, yet it's deemed acceptable. Baffling....

  3. I'm old enough to remember.

But I've never seen that from start to finish. Terrifying speed.

    I'm exactly the same, O4U.

I remember this happening at the time, but have never seen this footage all the way through before. A shocking tragedy which I think gets overshadowed by the Heysel disaster not long after and then Hillsborough.

Just as those two tragedies are prominent in a lot of fans minds, so should Valley Parade be.

    God rest their souls.x

  4. I'm sure there will be a lot who feel the same way, if a group of players at one club were caught out match fixing, you would feel cheated, why pay £20 every week when your paying for a scam product, I know it's not been this way until recently but it's getting worse and I'm sure there will be pros up and down the country :censored:ting themselves right now. How many more are going to be discovered ? It needs ridding from the game and untill this happens you don't know what your paying for !

It's already a "scam product" in my opinion. Players cheat on a regular basis in all professional games, yet we as fans and the football community at large condone it, with phrases like "he's given the ref a decision to make" or "there was definitely contact".

    :censored:ing hate it.

  5. Since when did the Bees become Barca?? You'd have thought so the way those bell-end fans were looking down their noses at us!! :censored: me, they have a couple of seasons of doing all right and they're sneering at similar sized clubs???

We were so crap, it took until 85 minutes for them to muster a decent effort on goal!!

I think perhaps they are not as good as they think they are, and we having been playing (over the last three games) better than our league position would suggest.

And as for that milksop with half a lager..........

  6. Hadnt been their biggest fan until you saw them play a few times you mean?

No. I've seen them play plenty. Up until the last two or three games Lockwood, for me, has been poor, and Wilson anonymous.

However, I am man enough to admit that their form has improved, and with it, my opinion of them.

  7. awesome ben.

if we keep this up more will join in and more will turn up. if we could have nicked 1 second half the rocky would have gone up.

You're right mate. It would have gone :censored:ing mental if we'd bagged.

    Still, a good day......

  8. If we'd signed non-league Lockwood on an 18 month deal that would have sent owtb into meltdown.

It would have sent me into meltdown TBF. I've not been his or Wilson's biggest fans since they've been here, but, hands up, they've won me over.

They seem to be benefitting from playing together until now, and they were solid as :censored: today. Hats off.

  9. Today was the first league game in years where I've thoroughly enjoyed myself from beginning to end.

Stood up the whole time - no over-zealous stewarding.

Sang myself hoarse. Even took my wedding ring off at one point because it was getting in the way of "Blue and white army" clapping!!

Belted out a couple of zigga-zaggers as well, which I never do at a home game.

People joined in - it was contagious - even the main stand upper and lower joined in. It really was a joy to see.

I realise that it's not going to be like that every single game, but if we can have something approaching that for the majority of the season, then I'll switch stands.

I'll even reconsider my decision not to renew my ST next season. The other thing was that the players really put a shift in today as well. Thoroughly deserved a point and arguably should have had all three. I'm one of the first to boo when they don't put a shift in, but today I stayed till after the final whistle and clapped them off. I rarely do that.......

  10. Thing is, if she likes it on saturday i'll probably get her a ST next season which will mean i can get to more games. So the club gains from me paying entry at £20 a time plus hopefully from acquiring a supporter for the future. My little girl goes to school in Rochdale and there are always complimentary tickets available.

Anyhow, it looks like RRE top right for us tomorrow. Let's hope for a good performance and 3 points.

Bring plenty of sweets. And an iPod or something, just in case!! I always come prepared on the odd occasion I can bribe my two girls into coming!!
