  1. I think the atmosphere WILL be fantastic on Saturday. Dare I say, almost electric for the first 30 mins or so. It'll obviously depend on how the game goes as to how long it'll stay that way.

Hopefully though the players will respond to the new air of positivity (is that a word??) around the place and should certainly feel it from the fans.

I for one can't wait. And I can't remember the last time I said that.

Limbering up me vocal chords already in preparation.

Might even lay off the ciggies for a few days!!

  2. May I suggest that we all henceforth refer to the incident as "Dog-gate".

In these times of all incidents being given snappy titles, I think it's only right and proper....

Edit: Can I also request that the powers that be please create a greyhound smilie to mark this infamous occasion? I thank you.

Edit again: Bollox. Just seen Frankly's poll.

  3. Yes, he does, he hardly ever puts a foot wrong defensively but gets criticised for what he got cheered for tonight and hoofing the ball up field, he's always offering support on the wing. But because we had a defensive mindset today he got cheered rather than booed.

No he doesn't. Quite simply, if had played like that every game this season, he wouldn't have gotten the stick he has thus far. He seemed to read the game quite well and was a couple of seconds ahead last night, instead of behind as he has been for most of the previous games.

I'm with Kelly's on this one.

  4. Within minutes of coming on tonight, Lidds started a move which nearly ended up in a goal. He did this by passing the ball, 5 yards, sideways, to one of his teammates. Something which the rest of the team hadn't managed to do for a good 60 minutes. Everyone else resorted to panicky 40 yard lumps or running, like a headless chicken, down a cul-de-sac. Like Smalley did all too often.

  5. Fairly flat performance all round to be honest. First Half we were second best to everything for long periods, Scunthorpe dominated play without actually looking like scoring in my opinion until they scored a brilliant free kick. They tried to take it quickly, Ruben intercepted it but the ref pulled it back and from the resulting second attempt, it was curled into the far corner. I was a little disappointed with Fleming on this one. Good strike but it went in at the side he was supposed to be covering, completely left that side ungaurded, instead standing and moving to the corner where his wall was covering already. Second goal, a suspicion of off side but a good move and a neat finish in off the near post. Then a bit more controversy, free kick on the left hand side for us, I think it was Windass who crossed it, their centre back flicked it on and over his own keeper 2-1 it would seem. However the linesmen (one of 3 inept officials on display) had his flag raised fro offside. Now, correct me if i'm wrong but the ruling on offside got changed this year to rule out any 'grey areas' so that you now have to TOUCH THE BALL to be active and in an offside position. Not one of our players touched the ball or even went near it for that matter. The ref went over to speak to the linesman but once again a stubborn official or even worse, one that doesn't even know the one rule they are their to enforce got it all wrong.

Half time came, 2-0 down, not really threatening although the end of the second half had seen us put together a few decent moves and look more involved. In the second half we looked brighter, Taylor had a bit more freedom as did Smalley later on but for the most part both were still quiet. Taylor wasted a great opportunity to square it to Hughes who would surely have scored, which ended in an argument and Hughes pushing Taylor. Windass missed a great chance but may have been offside and Hughes missed an easy header from 2 yards out. Apart from that we created little until Allessandra came on and revitalised us a little although the ref wouldn't give him anything. Scunthorpe looked dangerous on the counter but imo it would have been unfair and 2-0 was probably the right result.

There were too many problems tonight for us to get anything from this game. Allott won the ball numerous times but gave it away cheaply, Whittaker did very little and was also wasteful. Taylor and Smalley were kept quiet for the most part and both our full backs offered little bar a couple fo decent runs from Golbourne. Up front, Windass wasn't too bad but Hughes had a mare, not interested in the slightest. Gregan was one of the few who performed tonight, Ruben did ok but hardly his usual self. Fleming not bad, a couple of very good saves but had a disasterous moment in the first half giving the ball away cheaply and as i've mentioned I think he was poorly positioned for their first goal.

Now on to the ref, well it must be said, the worst performance I have seen from a referee in a long, long time. Truly abysmal. Booked 5 of ours in the first half (Ruben, Smalley, Allott, Windass and Taylor) with only 2 being bad tackles both of which stemmed from his inept performance. The first was from Smalley after he didn't get a clear free kick and lashed out, the second to taylor under the same circumstances. Windass got his for saying something after Smalley got booked, Rubes got his after he should have got a free kick in our favour after being pulled back and forced into making a challenge to make up for ground he lost and Allot's was for a trip 25 yards out which leds to the goal. In general he made baffling decisions in both directions and generally ruined the game a spectacle, well done to that man.

    Spot on that, Leyland.

Whilst Scunny always looked a threat going forwards, I think we could have easily exposed them more if we had just played the short, easy balls instead of hoofing it as we did for much of the game. The odd occassion we did get it down and actually find the right colour shirt, we caused them problems.

The officials were indeed abysmal tonight. Particularly the ref who seemed to get a kick out of stopping the game unneccesarily. My favourite was the incident where two players (can't remember the two players involved) went for a high ball with high feet, and the ref gave them a free kick!! A :censored: of highest order....

  6. i said

yeah they where both brilliant tonight.

oh and against stockport they both scored

    and both brilliant against hereford.

    great post though

Don't think there was a player on the pitch tonight who's performance could be classed as "brilliant". We were quite poor across the park.

We looked nervous, and got bullied out of it.

We did however have at least three good chances to get back into, Hughes' header in the 2nd half in particular. Had that gone in, I think we may have salvaged something, despite performing poorly.

  7. Close the door on your way out.

Not fit to lick Taylor's boots. Taylor v Hughes - only one winner for me.

I thought Hughes had a point in that he was wide open in the middle, but then Taylor can barely stand on his left never mind cross with it.

But to square up to him and shove him like he did was a little OTT. Uncalled for.

  8. Yeah thats what they were saying on the board how the majority of them didn't wear any team colours. Not that i'm saying wearing team colours is required, but usually of an an away following, many normally wear that. Hull fans were saying how many of them merely turned up for a barney or "to visit a premierleague club with no interest in football".

Apparently this then spread into Hull town centre afterwards.

Fecking Millwall scum yet again. Isn't it about time their fans were banned at away games??

  9. Huddersfield town are idiots why would they do this its going to be a free for all as always. I remember them saying pay on the day only.

It wasn't 'Udders. The whole situation is as it is because of West Yorkshire Police. It's them that have said the clubs can't offically advertise the fact that it's pay on the day. But pay on the day it is, I can assure you.

  10. Depends on the operating system.

VISTA is about an hour = £35.00 incl. VAT labour (set price) :)

XP Home/PRO is about 1½ hours = £45.00 incl. VAT (set price) ^_^

£70.00 from Acer is about right they normally charge £65.00 per hour + VAT.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards

    Ian G.

    Thanks guys.

Ian, I think I'll just ask Acer to send it back unrepaired and bring it into your goodself and save myself £35!!

  11. A laptop I bought recentley has had to go off for repair bacause it wouldn't boot up. I sent it back to Acer as it was only 3 months old and they now tell me there's nothing wrong with the machine and it's a software problem. Surprise, surprise, that's not covered under the warranty. They want £70 to perform a software recovery.

Just spent 10 minutes on the phone venting my spleen to them, but they're not interested.

Now never having had any problem like this before, I've no idea if I'm being ripped off or not. Any ideas as to if I can get this done cheaper locally??

Cheers.......................and steer clear of Acer..................

  12. It was alleged that a call was received by GMP from an anonymous tip off that he'd had a few and was behind the wheel. I'm guessing that GMP had a duty to follow up on that info and was duly picked up on the M62. Not becasue he was driving like a loon or anything.

  13. Cant believe your attempting to blame Norm for the two goals, free header for the first at point blank range and a great finish for the 2nd, wake up man.

Where in that post was I attempting to blame him for the 1st? Take the time to read the entire thread, or at the very least my initial post, where I say (and this is the giveaway) "Crossley not at fault for the 1st"

    Not exactly cryptic is it?

And the 2nd was a great finish?!?!?!?!?

    Wake up man.....

  14. It's only discussed each week because a certain individual brings Crossley up each week, much the same way as Eardley is. Each time the majority on this forum disagree with the comments .... yet it still comes up!

Look at the first post ... Crossley blamed for both goals, yet not one other person agrees with him regarding the first and most say he could had done better on the second. log on after the game next week and you'll read the same ....... even if we nil Cheltenham.

Didn't realise that it was a two man team .... obviously the other nine never put a foot wrong.

Of course it's not a two man team. As I mentioned in my previous post - "If he didn't make so many errors (like everyone else on the pitch yesterday unfortunatley) we wouldn't be discussing this."

The reason I'm tired of discussing it is because it's the one position in the team that, for me, is crying out for a change. It's one where we have a ready made solution, and it appears to be one of the few that Shez refuses to make. We don't need loans, or to wait for someone to return from injury. Fleming must be wondering what he has to do.

I'm not saying he's a Banks or a Buffon, but looking at the errors Crossley has made in recent games, I think perhaps they are ones that Fleming might not have made.
