  1. Penalising Charlton would be ridiculous.

Officials simply need to exercise more common sense or be given the freedom to do so. An example - on Tuesday we took a throw-in and, about 5 seconds later, and with play about 30 yards from the throw, an extra ball bounced on the pitch. Rather than letting us re-take the throw, the referee ordered a drop-ball. Probably correct to the letter of the law but complete nonsense in the circumstances.

FIFY. Refs can't choose to implement some Laws and not others. Careless/Reckless/Excessive force (which get a free kick, booking and sending off respectively) is a matter if opinion - outside interference isn't.

  2.

he goes to swing for the ball, player sneaks up and gets infront of him catches his leg player goes down, REF DOES NOT GIVE IT, lino does. never a penalty.

Lino had a clear view, ref (and camera!) were behind, so had players in the way.

The lino can't give a penalty, the ref has to agree. If the lino 'gave' it, then the referee didn't see it clearly.

  3. not really a challenge is it eh ? player runs infront of his leg goes down and gets the penalty. not that difficult.

did they i never saw it ?

I wasn't there, can only go off what the Reporter said seeing as the highlights don't bother to show it!

They could've shown me that as an example of a careless challenge in my Ref training, no need at all.

  4. its not even december yet

we play some great stuff at times

we do seem to learn our lessons

weve got a big game to bounce back in at weekend

    were unbeaten at home

we might not even have a club to support in sixty days or so

The first half was the single best performance I think I've ever seen from a Latics team (granted I'm only 16, and only been going regularly for 5 years, but there you go!)

10 points out of 12 ain't bad at all - even if we were to draw against Dale, 11 in 15 is promotion form in anyone's book.

  5. 1, New wealthy financial backers to either join or take over from SC

2, Failsworth project gets abandoned as redeveloping BP becomes more feasible ( either to new owners or SC )

3, We unearth a bargain 20 goal a season striker

4, The offside rule reverts to the old system.....never mind first phase, second phase nonsense

5, New legislation allows safe standing at all football grounds ( standing at accy rekindled my desire )

6, Lapsed fans flock back to BP in their thousands as we push for promotion

7, OWTB members live in harmony

Not too much to ask is it?

The old crystal clear "daylight between them" system?!

  6. Does ANYONE actually know what offside is anymore? The authorities have messed about with the laws of the game so much that offside is an extremely murky and confusing rule to try and implement. What with active, second phase, coming back into play, not interfering with play, etc, etc.

They should either scrap it altogether or go back to the trusted method of old. Personally, I'd scrap it. Bring a few more goals about if nothing else!

It's not actually that difficult, if he's interfering with play when the ball is played by a teammate, and in an offside position, he's offside.
