Latics commentary said Norwood’s booking yesterday was his fifth.

I don’t agree that the ground would be in meltdown. It doesn’t take much to rationalise in your head why he might take him off.
Fair dos pal. It’s just the ground is becoming a tinderbox now, and doing that would have ran the risk of lighting it 45 seconds into the game. (As oppose to 37 minutes. Lol.) -
DU would have sent the ground into meltdown if he’d subbed Fondop within a minute. He has to be able to trust him to at least get to half time without another booking. He’s a professional footballer FFS.
I wish we’d be more gun-ho before setting up defensively to protect a lead. But I think the club’s pinned their hopes on Lundstram and Ward being the creativity in midfield, and that’s gone tits up early-doors. Dickenson has been ok though. Still, signing all these forwards is giving the impression you’re going to at least go for it in games.
If you give the manager abuse face-to-face in the stand and he gives it you some back I’m not sure you can whinge.

If you actually said it a thousand times over, some of these fools with their head in the sand wouldn't lift it out for you to be heard.

As for Unsworth… I agree, we should properly judge him when the full squad is assembled and all are available. Let’s hope that is soon because at the moment he and the team are struggling.
That’s it for me. The club has strengthened the midfield in the off-season (the position most in need of it) and we’ve started the season with three starters out for three, possibly four or five games. As for Gardner, yeah I’d imagine he’ll be back-up once we’re back to full strength, albeit more creative on his day that Sheron and Shelton.
-
We were poor second half, but if Dan Gardner rasping a shot in, the striker keeping himself onside and alert enough to get to the rebound and finish is nothing but luck.. I’ll take that away to the title favourites.

Well , Monday now and hoping for some sane and sober perspective. Can but hope.
Probably just more Helen Lovejoy “Won’t somebody please think about the children” levels of hysterics. -
Of course it’s the club’s fault
-
Desperately poor to watch second half, but it’s a good away point.
Really poor in midfield, but hopefully Lundstram, Ward and Green are close to coming back.

Huffed, puffed and just didn’t create the chances. You can see we try and get the ball in the opposition’s half quickly, but too often it breaks down and ends up back to a defender or hopeful balls up top are wasted.
Confident we look better with Lundstram, Ward and Green back in the team.
Officials terrible. Fondop taken out in the box late-on (not seen a replay though) and their 22 got away a couple of cynical fouls. 4 minutes of injury time just seemed wrong.
We move on and hopefully get some bodies back.
-
Yeah not sure he’d leave Gateshead so early in the season for a team in the same division..
-
Who would we replace him with at this stage of the season? (serious question)
-
The injuries in midfield are going to pivotal over the next month or so. With the lack of creativity it’s going to as industrial as last season, so hopefully our forwards can feed off what ever service they do get.
I think Lundstram was/is going to be crucial for us, so losing him so early is gutting. Hopefully he’ll be back in soon and we won’t drop too many points.
-
Unless we sign a specialist RWB or a RB who can do that roll justice, I’d go 4 at the back. We’ve 3 strong NL centre halves but one’s going to have to step aside. Hopson was far from convincing in preseason at RB, so it’s all hanging on any transfer movement. I’d stick Shelton/Sheron at RB but if Ward and Lundstram are out it leaves us short in midfield.
FFS Latics. Why can’t you be normal?

It was me that reported this. They definitely said it, about 15/20 min in I think.
I remember it because it was one of the few times they imparted some useful information.
I don’t like criticising something that I would be totally shit at, but the commentary needs to change. It might be passable when you have pictures but when you’re just listening it’s almost impossible to get a good idea of what’s going on.
Thanks.I don’t usually listen to the commentary online, but I’d agree, it was poor.

Listened to our commentary on iPlayer (fantastic way to waste a fiver..), but didn’t catch any mention of Lundstram being out for a possible 4 weeks, as previously mentioned on here.
You hope to God he’s back sooner than that because he’s going to be crucial to us in the middle of the park. Hopefully Ward’s knock isn’t too bad either. Dickenson is going to be thrown straight into the side and sounded as though he didn’t disgrace himself yesterday.
Two home games next. Points a must. 4 at the minimum.

Two for Keillor-Dunn away at Crewe.
Yarney on the bench for Tranmere.

are you saying my tactic above is not good enough?
I’ve been the shittest player in a Saturday morning team. “Just go out there and be a nuisance” always worked for me. -
Three at the back looks obvious with our depth at CB, but it’s a non starter for me until we get a proper RB/wing back.

The Next Oldham Manager

Mellon or Clarke for me. They have the experience at both National League and League 2 and have promotions on their C.Vs. Both being out of work will avoid the need for paying-off a club.
Not sure if the Cowleys would drop down to NL. I suppose it depends if they’ve been knocked-back from other EFL jobs and fancy ‘starting again’.
I’d have thought the job will get plenty of interest and will appeal, especially with our squad and off the field set-up. Hopefully the new manager will wave at the crowd enough.
