I'm happy with Wellen's appointment because of the way he has turned around team selection, tactics and moral. But expecting him to continue in his 2.5 points per game average to achieve a top six spot is extremely optimistic.
The last two seasons have required an average 74pt minimum. This would require a 2.2 average from now on in. Sheffield averaged 2.17 last season amassing 100pts.
Some of us can't believe our luck with the turnaround and feel entitled to become over optimistic but is very early days. There is no sign of the indicated takeover yet and fancy rumours are biting the dust at regular intervals.
I'm waiting till end of January at least before reassessing whether our money troubles are over.
In the meantime I'm going to enjoy the free flowing football without worrying too much about relegation, for a change. Although nothing is guaranteed in this game.
Putting aside your mathematics, this is all completely meaningless. Win on Saturday and Tuesday and we’re likely to be 5 points or less off the play offs in October.

If the story about him not knowing the fixtures had been released was true, then he deserved everything he got.
The fixtures being released isn’t really important though, is it?

Could well have been. I don't doubt that other things were as well.
It certainly seemed from his interviews that Shez had lost a bit of heart for this job, he sounded fed up from very early on in the season. Compare that to the attitude and energy Wellens brings, it can’t be underestimated as a reason for our upturn in fortunes.

Since relegation from the PL our glimpses of anything other than attritional relegation fights are extremely limited.
Rare examples often have come at the start of a new managers reign:
Sherdian first time round saw us play some great football;
LJ got us playing wonderful passing football;
And on 2 games evidently RW is doing the same.
I don’t remember enjoying that many performances under Johnson, even when we were doing fairly well.

When asked about Seedorf, Wellens said 'its up to the owners AND Simon Corney.'
Which interview was that?

I personally thought it was a given it would get rescinded
There’s no chance they’ll go against the decision of a referee on tough calls like that.

How much do these appeals actually cost?
Can’t be that much if we’re appealing a decision likely to go against us. Seems like we had a go on the off chance.

Wasn't at the match Tuesday but heard that the defenders were asking who they should be marking at corners. Doesn't smack of him being well prepared enough to be given the full time job just yet.
Our defence against crosses and corners was much better than at Rotherham, though. Despite the slip up in injury time.

I don't condone diving just as much as I don't condone pushing a player in the back
There’s a big difference between pushing somebody in the back, and putting your hands up to protect yourself as you’re crashing in to somebody who has very suddenly stopped.

Wow...can't believe some people are trying to say it's not a penalty. No wonder we have fans who think we have a shit ref every week. I must imagine Wilson putting his hands on their lads back then You give the man a shove....you've got absolutely ZERO defence when the red card comes out.
Any attempt to get the red card rescinded will cost us £1000 (the standard amount to appeal) and get an increase in ban for a frivolous appeal. No thanks!
It was a definite penalty, even though it was very clearly bought. Very naive of an experienced player like Wilson to get so close to a player known for his theatrics.
-
Thought we looked much more solid with that back three tonight, shame Wilson is out for three games now.

Watch the goals again - if you can - and then tell me Edmundson should even be in the squad - unless he was injured he should have his wages docked for the piss poor effort today
Get a grip of yourself.

Most centre backs in this league make 2 or 3 mistakes on a weekly basis without being punished for a lot of them, I’m hardly surprised a kid with a handful of games made a couple yesterday.
Thought he played very well and the penalty is something he will learn from hopefully.

Of course I did, wouldn't comment if not...We played OK in spells but being the home team they had more possession and double our shots. Take your blue tinted specs off as they certainly deserved something from the game!
A few weeks ago at Walsall I almost didn’t care when we conceded late because we were dire.
Today, only one team deserved to leave that game with points on the board.

We needed that 3rd goal but Fleetwood deserved their point if I'm honest.
Surely can’t have watched the game.

I can't see how sky news would know, without matt, nick or mike getting wind. Plus clubs normally announce press conferences before this time of day, normally the day before
These things can often be embargoed.

Byrne is the kind of player that could transform this side.

But this is a 'good' embargo. I realise there is no such thing, but if you are going to get an embargo for anything then this is probably the best thing to get it for.
I’d have to disagree, it’s slightly worrying that the dross we’ve currently got turning out for us has seen us in an embargo for overspending...

I’m not so sure. It sounded like a potential new owner to me.

When you see people not wanting Baxter back, you start to understand why it’s been said this town doesn’t deserve a football club.

Bluddy Hell......nobody has said he can't.........but he's a master at "FLOATING" the ball in which invariably is a defenders dream. Mike Jones used "ping" the ball which usually causes a bit of trouble.
You must have thought long and hard to find those two examples!!!
So, I'll ask you the same question.........midfield general comes in.....who partners him, Fane or Banks?
He has literally quoted you there, saying he can’t...

If you don't know who our players are, I'm not going to teach you
We had three central midfielders in a side that plays three in central midfield, Gardner is a fourth now he’s available. Of them, only Green is a defensive player like Fane and he was injured on Saturday.
Who could he replace him with?

I hate to be negative, but Dummigan did shit out of heading that ball clear for their fourth, as somebody said earlier.
