I'm not sure where you've got that from...Some valid arguments about other teams having poor form and not getting much from here on in. However being a Latics fan for more than 40 years I've learned to rely on nobody but ourselves. BTW only 1 year in the last 10 has below 50 points stayed up so I suggest 7 or 8 points WILL be required...
Teams occupying 21st place in the last 5 seasons had:
11/12 - 43 points
12/13 - 48 points
13/14 - 47 points
14/15 - 50 points
15/16 - 47 points
-
47 points will be enough. A win and a draw will see us home.
-
And while I'm at it, venting my spleen, I thought Ollie Banks played like he'd had 12 pints of Guinness before kick off yesterday! Bloody woeful...
He was poor yesterday, but people in the main stand were on his back quite heavily from the first stray pass.

They are that :censored:e we've scored 23 goals in 37 games against them, we've no game against any of our relegation rivals and have the top three to play at home two of whom will have more fans in the ground than us, it's a huge ask now.
Pull yourself together.
-
I keep hearing about is repeating our form of the last nine games and then I look at who we've got to play, after yesterday I think it's fair for the worry levels to go up, granted we're not deep in the mire but it's a big ask now.
It's League One, they're all :censored:e with the exception of Sheffield United... and even they've proven to be bearable.

A bit of overreacting going on here. People are forgetting that before Croft got himself sent off last week we were on a run of 5 undefeated, with 3 wins. Yesterday was our first poor performance since Shez returned.
Repeat our form of the last 9 games (4 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats) and we'll finish on 55. The next 9 might be more difficult on paper, but it's very rarely as simple as that at towards end of the season.

I had a feeling we'd get 3 or 4 points from these two home games. Given that today was clearly a must not lose, as well as us performing well below recent standards, I'm not too disappointed with that result.

Just a question, if 26k is well below what's required to buy a scoreboard, why was that set as the new target when the campaign was relaunched?
And for leeslover, what have deposits been paid for, a scoreboard or electronic advertising?

So we only need four points from the remaining games. Happy days.
That was down to my belief that Port Vale and Gillingham may never win again...
I've done it a couple of time since though and I still believe 47 will be enough with Gillingham going down.

I'm curious on why you think they were bizarre. The 4 defeats are fair enough, I think we'll lose to Sheff U and Bolton whereas B.Rovers have an excellent home record. Posh can be difficult at theirs. Oxford have a good away record, so it's one we will probably snap (we like to break runs be it good or bad) whereas Fleetwood have a poor record at ours. Think we'll beat them. The draws seem fair enough...as I said in a post above, hopefully we can turn one or two of them draws into wins. Just like I predicted a draw on Tuesday but thankfully was turned into a late win. It bodes well.
Bizarre is the wrong word, I just think it's obvious we'll pick up surprise results along the way and I definitely think we'll win one of the away games against Posh, Southend and Bristol Rovers. We always find them at this time of the year, without fail.
I'd be stunned if we only win two games between now and the end of the season.
-
They've lost their 3 best players since then as well.
Think they're all but down to be honest, but predicting the fourth is tricky. I have a feeling it might be Gillingham, but even they have some very good players at this level who shouldn't be in relegation sides.
I've done the league table predictor three times now, and have had Gillingham taking the last relegation spot every time.

BBC comms were half blaming him for the goal, along with Gerrard.
I heard that, but having seen the highlights I've no idea what they were going on about.
If was another excellent save from Ripley before being put in on the line by their player.
-
I'd question why Banks is in and Taylor isn't yes
Banks had a very good game on Saturday.

43 points is enough to stay up on mine... I may have to have another go.

Some bizarre predictions in there and you still have us surviving. It's not in any doubt. My predictions went as follows...
Northampton - D
Walsall - D
Bury - D
Oxford - W
Posh - L
Sheff U -L
Southend - D
Fleetwood - W
Bolton - L
Bristol R - L
Rochdale - D
Wimbledon - D
12pts - final tally 48pts

Correct...out of our remaining fixtures,
Sheff U, Bolton & Fleetwood, are in the top 4 and competing for the automatic promotion places.
Southend, Millwall, Rochdale, Peterborough, Bristol R, Walsall & Oxford are all in the play off battle.
That leaves Northampton & Wimbledon away and Bury at home, the only team we have left to play who are in the bottom 9!!!
That's a really difficult run in and If we lose one or more of Clarke, Ripley or Holloway for any reason we'd have an almost impossible task.
Not as confident as others on here and nowhere near safe yet!!!
Wirh the exception of probably the top three, this league is its usual piss poor standard. It'll be a cold day in hell before I'm worrying about games against Oxford, Walsall and Fleetwood...
-
Four wins will do it now, I reckon.
-
Will somebody please join this thread and agree that Ngoo showed a few decent touches and looks ok technically... please. So I know I'm not losing it.
-
Looks like I'm the only one who thinks he has ability with the ball at his feet then...
-
Bang average and knackered after twenty minutes on the pitch.
Agree he was knackered, but bang average is very harsh.
-
Actually Dec666 mentioned it last night.
I made that ":censored:e" up, as mcfluff has correctly concluded after watching 20 second highlights.
-
Chesterfield was an important game not to lose, given they're part of the relegation battle themselves. It's obviously disappointing to drop a point with the last kick at MK but most would have been happy to get two points from these two away games and we've gone one better than that. Things look a :censored:load better than they did before Shez's arrival.
I think a lot of people were looking at the point last night taking us out of the bottom four. It'd have been nice, but it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.
We need 6 or 7 wins to keep us up and I'm sure that's the way Shez is looking at it again this year.
-
Croff genuinely tried to take a touch in his own box in the 5th minute of added time, still can't believe he didn't put his foot through it.
Have to say we sat very deep from start to finish. Holloway was very isolated until Osei came on and their two midfielders had all the time in the world to play balls over the top of our defence. That said, they only forced Ripley into one save all night, so I couldn't really envisage them winning it.
As for the added time, the only stoppage inside the extra four minutes was the referee sauntering over to have a word with their manager, laughable really.
A truly soul-destroying football club to lose in the last minute too, the kind of club who's fans probably enjoy a Frankie and Benny's pre-match, before heading in to sit in their comfy seats.
Where will we get the 8 points from to keep us up?

That's irrelevant. You only have to finish the one point above the side in 21st to stay up.
