  1. Smalley and Parker switching positions every 10 minutes.

The midfield sitting back waiting for Leeds to get the ball so at least we then know what to do - try and get it off them.

We just don't know what to do when we have it.

We're going down. Simple. We've been bad before but even then we could rely on giving a team a good spanking every now and again. Does anyone believe at this moment that "we're due to give someone a good hiding soon"? Thought not.

Imagine us needing to win 3 out of 5 games to stay up. Jeez wept.

We've got the effort but we just haven't got the quality. We're the son who's play fighting with his dad, frantically swinging punches, hitting fresh air because Dad is keeping us at arms length with his hand on our head. Dad, literally, is toying with us in the palm of his hand.

We're clueless and hopeless and it's absolutely uninspiring to the fans, hence the attendance drop and the general feel-nowt factor around the club. For the first time in 23 years we won't be getting season tickets next year.

    Enough's enough. It's not even a habit anymore. It's a chore.

  2. No we weren't! 2 sucker punches and apart from that Flahaven may as well have had a lie down - apart from his 'header' in the 2nd half.

They started brighter, though we got hold a bit towards the end of the 1st half - Their 2nd goal could so easy of seen us collapse and yes of course the sending off changed the game, but even before that we were on top and DP and the team exploited their missing left back well.

Showed really good character and team spirit looked good, culminating in a team 'bonding hug' at the final whistle.

BTW, anybody else remember Gregans 'overhead kick' switch to Holdsworth in the 2nd half - Quality!

Cheers FB, I stand corrected. Don't get me wrong, I want us to succeed with Penney but tuning in to see us losing again at home, well to an observer it doesn't seem to be going too well does it?

Job done though by scoring twice against 10 men. We did what we needed to do.

  3. I've got a season ticket but I'm seriously deliberating about Saturday....

Jeez wept. Just tallied it up and I've only been to 6 out of 10 home games this season and 0 out of 9 away. Make it 6 out of 11 on Saturday. And yes I do want a medal. I'll pawn it in and spend it on my weekends.

Not proud of the fact but on the other hand not @rsed in the slightest.

The club and the ground are stale. The team is equally uninspiring. I was looking forward to the Penney era. That optimism drained out of me after about 180 minutes of 'football' when it became clear that we'd be losing a fighting battle due to the stubborness of the management when it came to certain inferior players being mandatory starters. When one is your keeper then why the fook should I shell out my hard earned to watch points slip through his fingers week in week out?

Anyway this isn't about one player. He's gash and he can't help it. It's about years and years and years of false dawns and absolute to$$ on the pitch that has finally taken its toll.

Simply don't care anymore. The enjoyment went with the last brick of the Lookers. At least we were having fun being cr@p then.

  4. Think I'm going to save my 20 quid on Saturday.

I have never been so uninspired by a Latics team in my time supporting them, sadly its what I expected at the start of the season.

With you there. Who are we playing on Saturday anyway? Truely don't know.

When I remembered I supported Latics over the weekend and checked the score, I thought to myself 'has it ever been so uninspiring and dull?'

In my lifetime it hasn't. Yes we've knocked about at the bottom of this division and flirted with relegation, but a few years earlier we were in the division above so it was still kind of new and a 'novelty' in a weird way. Now we've been in this dire place for god knows how long. 11? 12? 13 seasons? And if we're honest there's only one way that we're going to get out.

We've also a squad of players who have no affinity to us and are only here until the next move comes along. OK that's football and not just Oldham but still.

The games I have watched this season (not many) have been lost by playing an absolute buffoon in goal. The fans clocked it after minutes. Penney aint that stupid but it took him a hell of a lot of points to realise that he had to drop the clown. To not even have a second choice keeper!!!!

    Where's Derk?

  5. The players haven't got it in them to fight when they go behind. Yesterday was a prime example. It's almost as though we're waiting for them to score. And then when they do nothing changes in our play. Was there any point yesterday that Hudds came anywhere close to 'hanging on'. There was a point when Blackman was left back, Parker centre mid, and Abbott up top on his own with Smalley trying to do anything but get stuck in.

  6. It's the goalkeepers job to organise the wall and he left a massive gap which was easy to spot by the free kick taker.

If this keeper plays all season I feel he will cost Latics many valuable points.

Other than than that there was some passionless displays by many in a Latics shirts and thats inexcusable.

The manger needs to weed them out now.

Agree completely. After their goal it was game over, we just weren't up for it. There was no pressing, fight, urgency, nowt. And to sum it up I'm paying the likes of Parkers wage!! Makes me sick more than anything.

Completely inexcusable. Think I'll give Leeds a miss.

  7. You'll all hate me for this but ..

Failsworth is the future, and i'm in support of it, have been from the start!

    Agree. I'd move tomorrow.

Big deal if this conspiracy theory is true. What we gonna do about it, all us 3000 fans? Money talks, the owners talk, if they move us to Failsworth then so be it. Think they're over ambitious on the 12,000 seats bit though...
