His hold up play is very good, but you can see he's not yet fit. Tired easily, but being the first game, i'm sure it happens with alot of players.

 

A fault I picke d out was frustrating. He tries to flick the ball over his head when stretching for the ball. Much more effective if he moved his body and got the ball under his control

Not sure about him tiring easily. Outpaced their whole defence in the last minute. Should've passed but in a way it's the sign of a good selfish striker that he didn't. One of the few positives yesterday. Parker was bone idle.

And please, no more full backs! If ever there was a full back out of his depth it was Holdsworth on the right wing. Always looked to turn back. Good squad player, good full back, absolutely nothing more. What's up with Smalley?

Having said that once we get Purdie and Jacobsen fit and Parker pulls his finger out of his @rse I think we'll be OK.

Always start the season as Champs and work backwards. Gregan will be MOM again regularly this season but will have a bad game as well because thats what latics players do. Consistently inconsistent.

can you or anyone else who dislikes byfield name another striker, who we can get on a free and who we can actually afford, who has a better goalscoring record than byfield?

Love them or loathe them we've COG, Brooke, Smalley and Taylor if needs be as back up for a striking spot.

Aside from Gregan and Hazell who's in reserve at CB? And more worrying, who's competing against that duck egg in nets?

I think that's why this whole Byfield situation is getting folks backs up. A reserve striker seems to be a priority ahead of the real problem areas of the team. We're only as good as our weakest link.

Not been to any pre season games, but i have to say Greg Fleming never filled me with confidence i alwasy thought he lew off his line way to fast, and crossley was a good keeper but a bit on the old side how bad can this guy be?

Put it this way, the two keepers you mention are both better than him.

Byfield is a totally different player! He's played 90 mins with no goal and no assist. Errr so what exactly is so different? He ran around a lot? Riiiiggghht then. So nowt out of the ordinary for a player playing for a contract?

We've a ready made striker who "can't score but runs around a lot" on the bench in COG.

Since leaving us in January he's played seven competitive games and scored...hard to believe I know...zero goals.

Why the ---- is he suddenly the answer?!?! Guys, he's gash.

Remember Frankly texting me after Northampton away (Byfields debut) saying how decent he looked! Saw him plenty of times for myself after that and he was absolute toss.
