  1. ...and wondered what the reaction would have been from Tics fans if Brill had made the same mistakes as Dida and Casillas made. I don't think he would have got out of BP alive!

Happens to the best of them, Brill-haters...

Errr palmed into his own net v Hartlepool, nodded in v MK Dons, fumbled over the line against Southampton and get this...lived to tell the tale on each occasion.

    Get over it.

  2. But I'll tell you what, we could do a damn sight worse than Dean Brill. And all of you know that.

I seriously doubt that. I'd rather have Carl Muggleton. Now...at 41!

Dean Brill is easily the worst first choice keeper we've had at Latics since I started watching. Easily.

  3. True, they did but one of the shots that hit the bar Brill knew was over straight away, it may have clipped the bar but he judged it right nonetheless, I wouldn't really count that as a big chance.

Hmm and we all know Brill has a great sense of judgement. He was beaten all ends up.

  4. The fact that they didn't hang around getting the leg brace out and him on the strecher is not a good sign. He looked to be in a lot of pain and it could be that he's broke the bottom of his tibia (the big shin bone) (with a possible break of the other shin bone as well) with a twisting injury. My Dad said he looked very pale and clammy when he was being carted off (which is not a good thing). One good thing was that apparently there was no blood on the sock- which indicates it isn't a compund fracture.

    Cheers Doc.

  6. i saw that, a bit disappointing from an ex-manager. other than that, 0-0 away at charlton is a great result especially without arguably two of our best players i think in sheehan and taylor. i heard dean furman on bbc radio manchester saying team spirit was really high and that all the players get on well. if we can keep this and the unbeaten run going, we could cement a place in the playoffs

Funny how people hear things differently. I thought Dowie was quite postive about us. He's not kidding us; he said we looked decent and defended extremely well but with a poor start and new team he thinks the play-offs are the best we can hope for, which would be over-achieving. Does any one really disagree?

Let's not forget he was manager at Charlton too.

  7. We signed the lad to score the goals, ABBOTT ABBOTT

Oldham was the team he chose ABBOTT ABBOTT

Like half of England he's a pole, he gets the ball and he scores a goal.

    Pawel Abbott Oldham's number nine!

    Na Na ..

Apologies for trying to deviate away from the "scores a goal" line which seems so popular, appearing on every other line. How about:

"He's here to score not for the dole."

Pawel Abbott Oldhams number nine nananaa ...

    Isn't it...

We signed the lad to score the goals Abbott Abbott

Oldham's where he'll score the goals Abbott Abbott

We know the lad can score a goal

He gets the ball and scores a goal

Forgive me if I've missed another 'score a goal' out.

  9. Abbott last night gave one of the best performances from a Latics #9 I've seen for a long time. He was immense. Very rarely lost the ball, it always stuck, and most of the time it was against two big lumps. He made Parkers goal through sheer strength and skill.

Parker...Ok probably his best game but nowhere near MOM. Too many times play broke down when it got to him. Looks to be playing a lot of the time at 75% effort. He's a quick un, as he showed last night at times, yet the next minute he seems to be running through treacle, being unable to beat his man. Like I said, best I've seen him play for us but could do better. Much better.

Pavott on the other hand, superb.

  10. How do we think Colbeck is doing so far? I think he's been quiet in the two games so far but I do think there is more to come. I like the way he was ready at the back post when Pav scored the first goal - it took Taylor two seasons to learn to take up that position!

Like him. No world beater and can't see him at a higher level than this but his instinct is to get forward, which is what we need from a wide man. He won't pull up trees but will give Smalley a push when he's fit.
