  1. Either of the Glasgow teams (although I would have to insist on picking the result for one of them) would be ace. Them aside I’m only really thinking of places I would like to go to anyway, so Rome, Athens, St Petersburg, Blyth, Istambul and many many more, but not specifically for their football team.

Don't forget Partick Thistle "The great Glasgow alternative" as they advertise themselves. Also it would take me 5 minutes to walk to their ground! ^_^

  2. As it is scientifically proven that CO2 is a 'greenhouse gas', and that we contribute significantly to how much is in the atmosphere I dont think we can pretend global warming is nothing to do with us. However nature is slowly adapting all the time to the change. I think there will be major changes to how we live in a few generations time, probably for the better.

Nothing to worry about really, im all for warmer weather. Just glad I'm not Dutch, or Scouse!

I agree with you that we contribute significantly to how much is in the atmosphere and that the changes we make as a result of this will be for the better, economically as well as environmentally. Even if we don't have a big as impact as we think I don't see the harm in changing behaviours/attitudes in order that people have more respect for the way the treat the planet and ultimately one another. Countries already significantly affected by Climate change include Bangladesh, countries in Africa around Lake Chad (aswell as others) and Hait to name a few. On the recycling point, if we can reuse resources surely that is better than constantly making new things which then need a place to be dumped?

The other point I would like to raise about your post, which I have seen a few times around this forum regarding this topic, is the issue of getting warmer weather! Global warming does not mean we will get more Sun! It means the planet is heating up because the Greenhouse Gases trap the heat the Sun gives us (not sure on my science there!), therefore bringing about Climate Chaos (which I believe is a much better term).

The results of this Climate Chaos include flooding (sea level rising because of melting ice caps), spreading of disease (mosiquitos and other carrying beasties being able to live at higher altitudes/new countries due to the global temperature increase), drying out of significant water sources (e.g. Lake Chad - this has ruined countless lives in Africa due to lack of trade/accessible clean water), big storms and more that I can't think of now.

Anyway as you can see this is something that I'm interested in - admittedly only recently so haven't studied a whole heap on the arguments for both sides - which I will in order to gain a balanced view.

  3. Course they will sell if we get a silly offeri n Jan.

We nearlly have a full new team just from Trotmans money!

If we're talking this kind of money then what level will the bid come from? Championship/Premier League... If come January we are still looking good for promotion and all the bids are from Championship clubs, surely we are in a good position to keep him till the end of the season? We get promotion therefore he is a Championship player and I'm pretty convinced the silly money offers would still be there, so puts us in a great position to barter and get more cash? I know we need the money but I would be very disappointed if he left in January no matter what the price as it would seem a little premature...

Having said all that - when does his contract run out?

  4.

I wasn't at the game so all I'm going on is this replay link - and I've got to say I'm all for Gregan having this rescinded but I'm really not sure how. From the replay it looks like a two footed lunge where is feet at the highest point are somewhere near the Hartlepool players thigh (replay link 0:13) - again could be a strange angle on the replay. You can see from the way he lands that he really did take off! As this was a straight red for serious foul play, it doesn't matter where on the pitch it happened or if he was clean through - This is the definition that is used in the BBC John Terry article. The last two paragraphs are key here...

"Serious foul play is classed as when a player "uses excessive force or brutality against an opponent when challenging for the ball when it is play".

  5. I think he's referring to the fact that the news about playing Burnley is ancient; just as the news about Adam and Eve taking the apple from the Tree of knowledge of good and evil in the Garden of Eden is. Jesus was the answer to that, lets hope Hughes is the answer to the Burnley problem!!

  6. just amazing, thought Johnson was the king at this distance but like the 100m has got more in the tank

I'm not sure about having more in the tank, he was grimacing towards the end of the 200m. The question I'd be interested to see the answer to would be regarding the windspeed. He was running into the wind and broke the World Record, can't remember the actually wind speed, but it would be interesting if possible, which I imagine somebody somewhere can do, to find the windspeed when Johnson ran 19.32 and what Bolt would have run if he had the same conditions...?

  7. I would agree completely with that - has Jones played for England in a test since the ashes win in 2003? He was sensational then, with so much reverse swing. I know he has had is injury problems, but I would be looking to get him back in the team asap.

The main problem England have is inconsistency. There are some excellent players in that team, which when playing well, have the ability to win against the best - just look at the first test against SA - had them on the ropes, but again inconsistency creeps in and SA are able to bat out for two days!!!
