I know they lost tonight at Wycombe, but Burton had Hamer, CBJ, Aaron Holloway and Jonny Smith starting for them tonight (and of course Dino as assistant manager) and they are currently 10th in League One.  While we have undoubtedly signed a lot of crap in the recent past, we also clearly haven't got the most out of quite a lot of the players we've signed.

Hamer clearly benefitting from consistent coaching, instead of trying to progress under a new manager every 4-6months he endured in his time at Latics

l call ignorant, half baked, attention seeking bullshit.

Hamer, Tarky, Emmerson, Edmndson all far better than average and didn't take 40 years to come through.

lf l could be arsed l'd remember loads more, but you don't actually mean it and proving you wrong has become repetetively tedious.

Tom Eaves successfully got us relegated

Adams and Hilßner were good additions, keeping McAleny and Bahamboula (albeit probably just to the end of the season) was good.  Losing Hamer and Barnett wasn't really a bad thing and Barnes could come good.

Losing Rowe and not replacing him was the worst thing we did.  Leaving Wheater in limbo was nearly as bad and signing Tasdemir looks like a waste of time.  Also making the squad less balanced than it was before and a reliance on loans so much that we can't even play all of them at once is very stupid.

I'd say we probably moved sideways but definitely not forwards.

We sold our only fit striker and didnt replace him. We are now playing attacking midfielders/wingers in every spot of our team. It was a bizarre transfer window in that we didnt need to change anything going forward, just add some grit in midfield and defence and didnt add either. We are 17th and I am almost certain we were higher in the table in Jan. We went backwards

Iverson signed a 4 year contract with Leicester whilst he was with us. As a loanee he was only going upwards.

Isnt he playing for Preston aswell this year? Some fans are still delusional about the pull this club holds. Matty Lund and Doyle would be classed as major signings for us these days.

Good interview here with Jose Baxter (baby). Very interesting/surprising to hear him say Dan Gardner was the best player he played with at Latics...

He is such a legend. Love that lad, and would love it if he has another swansong and then becomes gaffer in the future

I think we should be over Jack Byrne now. Coming on as sub - not even starting - for a very poor Ireland team isn't cause to regret letting him go. He hasn't developed, simple as that.

He was a  very good player for us when played in the centre of the park, people forget that. He would make a mockery of the whole of our current squad. I am still in denial about him leaving :(

Meanwhile...... the better replacement player in midfield is part of a team, theoretically, just 5 points from non-league football.

Just imagine how quickly we would have been relegated had Fane played alongside Maoche in League One. Sylla may be better to some people because he can actually play football, but hes still useless. Doesnt make Fane any good though. We have had some torrid players in recent years.

My Bolton supporting cousin went to watch them get hammered at Rotherham yesterday. He said Freddie Ladapo, for them, was unplayable. Quick, strong, scored 2 and hit the woodwork twice apparently.

Having watched him for Latics, I am still convinced he is absolutely dreadful. You need to remember Bolton are absolute fodder, even with those 9 players they signed.

Marc Richards scores for Cambridge, but they lost.

I honestly couldnt believe that was him. Didnt he play for Latics in the Blackburn Carling Cup game 2-0 defeat when Sheridans both got sent off in about 1999? Some career that

Edit: I realise I open myself up to a lot of fact checking there, and I am probably incorrect on all of it.

What was Banides reason for inexplicably subbing Mills? And not starting Nepu? Leaving Sylla on the bench all game. And let's not say coz he isn't picking the team because Nepu was one of the first players on the teamsheet when AL was getting involved.

I am almost positive that AL insists that Branger plays. Words to that effect I was told during Pete Wilds time as when Branger was injured Wild was able to pick the team without interference. I think the rest of the players (Nepo/Missilou) are mostly in and around the team for their "quality". For me Branger would be shipped out to the French 7th Division, the guy is supposed to be an attacking threat, how many assists and goals did he have last year?!

However I think maybe Banide has only a decision between Mills and Nepo and chooses Mills for now...
