Bumped into Urko Vera in the casino the other night, was sticking £4,000 on Red. I said you can't do that, we hate the reds, so he stuck it on black and it won. Black 28. Also reminiscent of Eyresy.

He then preceded to give me a grand and said get yourself a season ticket son, so that's exactly what I've done, also put £200 on him to be the league's top scorer at 100/1, so he bags 30 goals and sorts me £20,000 for that, I'm taking him Vegas!

    Urko Vera baby!

A lot of pointless effort in that.

You're right but, nearly 200 games and a lot of them at a club like Sheff Utd on decent money is still a better career than many a player.

Hes wasted lower down the leagues. Crap pitches and played in a deep midfield role to accomodate other shite doesn't do his talent justice. Should be bang behind a big striker pulling strings with a decent midfield behind him. If he hadn't got injured early last year at Hampton, I have no doubt Frankie Bunn would not have got sacked and we would have been in a different position at xmas time.

Remember Jonathan Burn? Centre half. Came in on loan from Middlesbrough the season of the Darren Kelly debacle. He reminded me of Richard Jobson in the few games I saw him play. Anyway, I knew he went to Bristol Rovers.... he's now at Darlington, via York, in the Conference North. Wonder what happened. I thought he'd go on.....

From my memory he was absolutely awful!

Got shit for suggesting Sohny Sefil isn't a patch on Clarke, was told by someone whose seen him at close quarters that he'd struggle in a pub league, let's wait and see.

I can assume you spoke to Abdallah or Mo? Because anyone else giving you shit for that has no right giving opinions on football

Mills looks the master of backwards passing.

Vera looks even more out of shape than when he arrived last season.

     Sefill looked sluggish.

We will have to wait and see if they can improve.

Thats a bit kind. I know it was only a friendly highlights reel, but have they just picked up any random bloke off the street? He didn't even look like a footballer.

Glad to see Branger has still got the ability to walk round like he was better than he is whilst losing it every time he touched it.

What? I like all his posts on Instagram. I'm sure he's a lovely bloke. I just think, on the basis of what I've seen, that he's a dreadful footballer.

Exactly my thoughts from the games I watched. Im sure it was Crawley where I don't think he touched the ball? Although 6 appearances after not playing for a while may not be the best to judge.

I hope he was just unfit and a decent pre season may see us get some sort of decent striker. His record of clubs before OAFC suggest he does have something in his locker.

I dont want him to fail, but add to the fact BP is a strikers graveyard, I just pretty much expect him to.

Reversed back into a fence at Edinburgh airport and broke the tailfin.  Speed about 6mph but technically still a plane crash!  It's a better story after a few beers :)

My partner's boss has actually survived one in Burma where over 100 people died.

So the pilot fucked up, but you clapped him off the plane anyway? Sounds about right for Latics fans 😉

  8. I cant help but notice the squad looks tiny, both in terms of personnel and actual size. Besides Vera who may well still be smuggling COG in his stomach.

The intensity in the training looks slow, whether that's because they just came back, or its only showing snips of the day I am not going to make judgement. I like the media side showing this stuff, despite the fact the edits are quite strangely put together.

The one worrying thing for me is I have absolutely no affinity or care for a single person on that tour except maybe young Tom Hamer. We have one local lad and a couple of lower league nobodys, plus foreign players that most people can't even pronounce. The playing squad is as unrelatable as any that the club has ever had, and it is so difficult to have any passion or desire to get behind the team. The usual turnover of staff is to be expected these days, but last year when we had just been relegated to League 2 and was one of the lowest point in the clubs history we still had Clarke, we had re-signed Baxter (leaders and a joy to watch), we still had Byrne and Gardner (players who could win a game from nothing), players to look forward to watching and a real thought we should be challenging for the league title. Now though, I can't name a single player there that I would want to watch or am excited to see this season and I cannot see anything other than mid table mediocrity being the best we could hope for. It's such a shit time for "the fan", and these players and staff need to effectively win the league if they are to bring anybody back around to positivity again.

Imo AL has a long term plan to become a recruitment company for foreign talent (loosely used) and then as soon as we get one gem to offload at profit. I for one prefer a local community club, not a recruitment business.

I just hope we win the league, and as stated, it will probably change my opinion.

Good question and very worrying. It wasn’t an England kit but it genuinely looked like they had let a local turn up and train with them. He didn’t have a GPS vest on either. This tour is just one big ego-trip for the Lemmys.

Who cares? If I owned a football club I'd be up top every week.

A head coach having no say in transfers is very concerning. Even in the continental model, a manager usually has the final say on transfers (albeit the director of football handles the negotiations, fees etc). If this is how we are operating and the powers that be are playing ‘ip dip do’ with players and are not linking in with formations and tactics, well...

When we had a "Manager" he still didnt make the signings. At least its out in the open now, as opposed to being fed through different managers leaving interviews to us.
