  1. This could be a long shot, but I know there are a few people on here who liked the Exit Calm. I appear to have misplaced my Vinyl LP for the original album Exit Calm - Exit Calm, and wondered if anyone was up for selling me one of theirs?! The album has disappeared off of digital formats like Apple music and Spotify these days, and Dont Look Down is easily my favourite song ever! Anyone help a brother out?!

Against my better instincts my son softly softly persuaded me to support this game.  It was the beer I cry.

We started looking like we wanted a draw.  Defending against an under 21 team?  Well yes they started full of energy and scored a great goal.  BUT as time went on less confident until it was two teams playing each other and what a strike by Desire.  Then Gregor, sorry showing, saves a shot but pushes the ball to their players - behind again.  Icovitti who had been on the end of two previous crosses scores with a shot.  2 2 and we are looking the better team.

Now Urko Vera had a decent first half.  Detractors say a donkey but this donkey as compared to COG is able to do something when he wins the ball.  He was never my favourite but first half miles better than COG.

In the second first half, score board started again at zero (could be another daft rule change by FIFA), we were toe to toe with the individually good but not so good team and Stott won the game for us.

One could say it was a masterclass by our head coach.  Didn't play what should be our strongest team but after an entertaining first half and a competitive second first half a well earned win.  Well done a good performance.

Some on here, myself included, might (please) begin to look a little stupid.

It's not an achievement to be better than COG was last year you know?

He was a breath of fresh on Saturday, he really was. FGR didn't challenge us at all in the air all game really and Wheater showed some nice touches and found men with ease when he needed to. So pleased he’s our player and not a loanee.

I said at the time that he looked great, however I think with Clarke instead we don't concede that goal. Reason for that is because Wheater was not expecting their lad to glance into the box and peel off Missilou so easily so didn't get across. Clarke blocked most of that stuff last year knowing that the midfield lacked any bite. Once he realises (like Clarke did) that he's playing alongside pretty poor footballers he will become even better IMO.

More money from above would change nothing except the wages for the lower league players

The wages are already unmanageable without external income. IMO Championship clubs will be the first to start suffering as they literally go shit or bust on wages of ex Prem players, and it has to have an impact

I don't understand why some people assert that Premier League players getting paid more and more means League Two players need to (or even do) get paid more.

Does this even happen and if so why?

It has to happen surely, clubs that can compete at the lower levels have huge attendances, and/or wealthy owners. Or they gamble like Bury and ultimately pay the price. Sunderland/Pompey/Bradford/Pboro as examples of being able to sustain this. When you've got clubs hoarding players and someone at Man City reserves on even 5-10k/week as standard and they get released, they are highly unlikely to take 2k/week at another club, and 2k/week for someone like Latics is a lot for untried and untested. And then when senior and proven players see these young lads on this silly money, their agents immediately want more. Vicious cycle.

If more cash filtered down the leagues wouldn't it just all be relative and badly run clubs would still be badly run and just spunk even more money than they're able to now? Possibly, but salary caps/more financial checks etc should counter this perhaps?

    I don't get it.

Its getting to breaking point. Players so far down the leagues expecting 0000's of pounds, due to Premier League inflation, with clubs further down the leagues only receiving income from matchdays and minimal sponsorship. Clubs cant raise prices, as fans choose to not attend and go to cheaper Premier League clubs. It will get to the point in the next 10 years where a huge number of lower league clubs will need rich owners just to survive. And I imagine Bury/Bolton are just the start of a lot of clubs ceasing to exist. We will slowly start to see less and less professional clubs.

People have started saying Premier League clubs should be bailing out Bury/Bolton, which is nonsense as Bolton/Bury have been poorly managed also. But in-fact the whole structure needs resetting, and cash filtered down the leagues evenly if English football wishes to maintain 4 professional leagues. How it has been allowed that Premier League can continue to blow all this huge money and offer one player wages that would cover a whole clubs wages only 2 divisions lower is beyond me. Football has become a business and not a sport for the local community these days, and it needs to be returned to a competitive nature if English lower league football fans wish to ever see better days. Otherwise we may need to decide on which business we would like to support in the future.

I've never put a bet on a game of football, and have not seen us pre-season, but...

I'm considering putting a few on for Saturday:

£10 on Forest Green to win
£10 double FGR & Exeter (vs Macc)
£10 treble FGR & Exeter & Wycombe (vs Bolton)

Is that any good, or would you change any of the games?

As a fully fledged failed gambler, Id say £20 on each

One of Abdallah's disciples Mike Halliwell mentioned it on their cult-like facebook group to help downplay concerns after his departure.

I'm becoming really concerned that there's a lot of borderline propaganda coming out of various social media channels and a lot of new accounts are also popping up on the #oafc asking very specific questions. All a bit Russian. Bit too much for a 4th division football club FFS!

This, being a bit too much, and the fact it's Latics fans we are talking about leads me to believe these pop up weirdos are genuine. There's a whole world of unexplored Latics fans that haven't been introduced to social media yet. Exciting times ahead.

  9. Some people didnt like Iversen and didnt rate him, yet hes represented Denmark u21s in the summer Euros, and is now spending the season playing for a Championship club. I tend to think most Latics fans opinions on Keepers is irrelevant, especially seen as their judgement is based purely on whether a keeper comes to collect crosses or not.
