That's probably a little better and should be good enough with what we've got now although :censored: is unlucky to miss out but is benched for his versatility.
-
I think Heffernan will end up staying for the season. Would be good to see him play with Pav.
could happen especially if we move O'Grady permanently to 'dale, hope Pav is back for Xmas and we will see them together for a game or two.
-
I could see these two really complementing each other if they get the chance in the new year?
I know its just 1 month but can we expect it to be extended beyond that?
Does Blackman's loan end in Jan?
-
heffernan seems like a good shout but showumni is more what we need a big lump while pav is out?
let's get both of them.
-
Yep, an attendance of 3087 (72 from Colchester) may kickstart Guys first full week.
-
I'm afraid it's not as simple as just getting a new striker, the striker needs service which is something we just aren't doing. We need to get quality service in there and not just hopeful hoofs from the back; time for some old fashion wing play if you
ask me.
Aye, that Colbeck lad should do the trick!
-
Colbeck was actually offering a threat v leeds, albeit that his 2n touch was poor, his level of threat still warrante attention from leeds defence. His subbing was purely tactical, with parker, taylor and smalley on the pitch - too much wide play; over run in the middle.
So he is worth his place then?
-
Over spending £60k on Colbeck. Given our shortcomings elswhere in the team and the consequences highlighted Saturday evening by substituting our costly winger EARLY to stiffen up midfield (with Whitts!!!) despite starting with 3 wide men illustrates inbalance, a serious lack of squad depth, and a sheer misjudgement on DP's side as to where valueable resources should directed. How many times has Colbeck started and been subbed?
-
Leeds site reported 700 tickets left in RRE on 2nd Nov - 5 days before the game. If I assume they will bring 4500, will we at least match them with a gate of 9000+ ! I think its a tight call and wonder if we've been outnumbered before? At least we took more to Spotland in league cup in Aug 2008!

What has Rubes done wrong today please.
I'm talking about OPTIONS to change things in terms of Brill (out of form) and all three of them in terms of injuries and suspensions.....as things stand who would replace these guys if for instance two became unavailable next weekend?
...and dont tell me Ollerenshaw is ready for a prolonged spell of first team football.
-
That we STILL have no cover for Brill, Rubes and Greegs.....who will retain their place in the team regardless of form, injury knocks and fatigue when quite clearly our team is screaming out for at least the OPTION to change Personnel in these two areas..........
So we spend £60k on a totally ineffective winger. BRILLIANT!
I just cannot believe that DP has allowed this obvious 'weakness' to prolong itself despite funds being available which appear to have been wasted on a player who in my opinion we did not need.
-
He was standout, the kind of player we need to be looking at on loan, more than held his own with Pav, and after Rubes performance, well, his height and presence will offer that bit of difference we need at the back. He had funny legs but he was certainly no Lord Kangana Diawa..... Seriously, I will keep one eye on his progress.
-
I'm dissapointed we won't be seeing Kenwynne on Saturday, would have been a great benchmark for Rubes to have looked after him, they are bringing second string and youth but it should still be a good workout for our boys against supposedly superior quality.

How many of us knew about the Abott and Furman deals before they happened? They came pretty much out of the blue IIRC, so expect Penney to play his cards close to his chest again.
Abbot was regularly and justifiebly mentioned - signed, therefore no surprise but to me he is our SECONDARY striker (fitness / injury issues) we await our PRIMARY signing, but its not going to happen is it? WHO ARE THE MAIN CONTENDERS?
-
Patience. There are alot of strikers out there who've been out of contract for only 6 days.
The sooner we sign one the better, but there aren't many clubs out there who are down to chasing their last two first team contracts.
Agree, but our track record of (unsuccessful) loanees; other than Abbott, an absence of STRONG links, and pie in the sky suggestions such as Hughes and John does not inspire; Having said that, I would be surprised if the salary budget for this signing was not substantial.....it needs to be and the lack of firm speculation is worrying; that's why I'm concerned.
-
Come on, be honest, we are really struggling with this one and have been for a few seasons (Hughes and O'Grady were gambles with questionable success) no wonder Wolfy is still with us....we're training still short of a quality striker and touting Stern John is pie in the sky IMO! I Really do think this KEY signing ain't gonna happen soon. Thoughts?
-
Why do they have problems?
New manager at a new club, first chance to have a clear-out, dont think 13 is over-the-mark.
Not considering our own Dave Penney released 22 in his first season at Darlo
He wouldn't release 13 if there wasn't a problem would he?
as for Penny; Taylor, Eardley and Brooke be afraid.....
-
There was an article a little while back about their problems.
Should make us thankful that we have the TTA.
I'm afraid not, so they are unlikely to want Ricketts.
-
They will be a good side for us to play early doors unless they are planning to join a 5 a side league.
-
we were playing Sunderland at home in a 2-2 draw, remember leaving the chaddy at 4.50pm hearing the tannoy announcement that the Liverpool SF at Hillsborough had been delayed due to crowd congestion. No mobile phones or Internet in those days so I watched in horror when I arrived home as the real truth emerged.
Why wasn't Mark Allott Given a 2 year deal?

Agree, but better than average 'cause he wanted the shirt and unlike the current crop he deserved it.
