  2. I'm amazed there isn't a specific forum to discuss crabs.

A male crab and a female lobster are dating, but they are hiding it from their parents because of the obvious reason. Eventually the lobster gets tired of all the secrecy and she tells her father, who is furious and forbids her to see the crab again.

"But why can`t I see the crab again? We`re in love!" cries the lobster.

"Because," says the father, trying to search for a reasonable answer, "crabs walk sideways and we walk straight!"

"Please, father," she begs. "Just meet him once and I`m sure you will change your mind."

The father finally agrees to meet the crab and she runs our to tell him the good news.

The crab is so excited that he practices walking straight. He practices and practices until finally he can walk straight. He walks the entire way to the lobster`s house as straight as he can.

The father sees him coming and yells to his daughter, "Hey, here comes that crab and he`s drunk!"

  5. or they may have wanted to put the uppity British media in their place to prevent them from further trying to oust them from their mansions of gold?

while Panorama may or may not have made THE difference, it certainly didn't help.

i could understand such grandstanding "journalism" from privately owned, profit making TV stations like Sky or ITV but why, oh why were our state broadcasting corporation so intent on potentially damaging our World Cup bid and to what end?

in hindsight, assuming we wouldn't have got the WC anyway which I don't think we would, wouldn't the viewing figures be even higher if they were showing it tonight after what happened yesterday?

the BBC are no less corrupt than Blatter, Warner and his mates in my eyes. Then again, we already knew that.

at least Blatter et al make a few quid out of it as opposed to these self righteous idiots

I also struggle with the BBC's motives on this one. Either the BBC are completely stupid else were keen on giving the new 'coalition' a bloody nose. If the BBC really wanted to bring the FIFA 'mafia' to account then why make a preemptive strike that could only be potentially damaging. Surely the best strategy in this instance was to allow the enemy to commit first and then attack. The timing of the Panorama programme was at best 'bizarre' which leads me to believe that the BBC were guilty of their own politiking. Any way it is now obvious that we were never going to get the WC and Blatter was keen on making us look as stupid as possible - he beat us hands down.

I still believe we should stuff UEFA, FIFA and our :censored:e media for a while and focus on what can be controlled i.e. the state of the game in this country. I assure you that attendances will drop over the next 10 years as people become more disilusioned, famillies move away and hooligans move in - it's the cycle of life.

  6. Can't put any blame on the bid team but hopefully this will be the catalyst for a serious look at the governance of football in England. Forget any corruption in FIFA, our national game is frought with problems (at grass roots level, top teams unable to string 6 passes together, a continually failing national team, rising hooliganism, poor quality of pies etc.) which have long been visible to all except the unaccountable FA exec who are too busy stuffing their pockets with the fruits of TV revenues.

  7. A supporter is something permanent without which an entity will generally collapse.

A fan is something that simply re-distributes hot air, has little influence on stability but your glad of them when you need them. Anyone who comes on this site is more than a fan, whether they believe it or not - they wouldn't be on here otherwise. Being an exile I have tried to convince myself and others that I don't care if we win, lose or draw anymore - but I know I do.

We have either contributed or are contributing to a club that means a lot to us. Even those that do not go as regularly as they once did, for whatever reason, have played their part in the history of this club so stop the pi**ing competion. Unbeknown to many of us we have probably grabbed each other in the past and jumped up and down in moments of celebration or random homo-sexuality. I haven't celebrated goals with such passion for years but I still look forward to a future where I can.

Due to work and distance I can't travel to many matches anymore but I am now prepared to support the club financially in whatever way I can. I miss the old days of a packed chaddy end with the springy boards, the banter between left and right side, being crushed against barriers, being frog-marched down the touchline by the police and my dad shouting from the paddocks that the he can assure me that the copper won't beat me up as much as he was gonna do when I got home. It won't ever be the same again for me but Oldham have given me some memories that are worth some payback. Keep the dream alive and do what you can.

  8. I take comfort from the fact the Barry has chosen to remain quiet, as if the state of the club was as dire as being stated on this site he would obviously have been more forthcoming with his thoughts.

Please be advised that Tesco have supplied me with a replacement packet of biscuits but believe that the need to re-call Rich Tea biscuits is unnecessary as I was clearly drunk and incapable of carrying any item without dropping them when purchased last night.

  9. Thanks for that gem of information. When I saw you had posted, rather than opening it immediately I decided on making a brew to help savour my forthcoming enlightenment. My dissappointed in your content was soon turned into a positive experience when I managed to rescue a piece of Rich Tea that had broken off before it hit the bottom of my cup and disintegrated. My quick reactions saved the almost inevitable situation of having to make a fresh cuppa.

On further inspection I noted that all the other biscuits in the pack have a slight hairline fracture that will make them susceptible to fouled dunking. I will be requesting a full explanation and refund from Tesco's later in the morning (after Super Market Sweep). For everyones's information I will be insisting that Tesco take a similar line as Quantas have with their Rolls Royce engines and taking all their Rich Tea out of circulation until the production fault has be identified and remedied.

It would appear that there is a lid on the knowledge font or a fat lass sat on it clearing her throat in readiness to commence warbling - c'mmon lad spill the beans and tell us some't wi don't know

  10. An altar boy gets ran over and is lying in the road dying. An onlooker says, "he only has a few minutes to live, we need to get a priest...." The altar boy says, "I'm dying.... Why would I want sex at a time like this?"

Given your avatar - Is it the hilarity of this 'joke' that attracts you most or its bigotted content?

  11. 2014 isn't too far way, what then ?

By 2014 the long term plan will have been achieved _ by then there will only be about 1,200 people who will actually give a toss, and most of those will be desperate enough to accept a ground comprising the backyard of a former bus depot with goal posts painted on the garage doors. At least we'll be able to get the standing areas we all crave.

As Al Murray would say 'It's staring you in the face FFS'

  13. Check out gettyimages.com and type in oldham athletic.

The majority are modern ones but for me the historic ones on the last couple of pages stand out, especially the George Best photo and the 1980 game at Stamford Bridge which I attended.

Going through the photos made me realise that in my time of suppoting Oldham the times of success and failure are in the minority and most the time we've been mediocre, but it's when we were mediocre that I have the fondest memories

  14. Like the rest of us if you're working for an employer under a contract of service (even if you've only just started), you're entitled to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) if the following apply:

    - you're sick for at least four days in a row (including weekends and bank holidays and days that you do not normally work)

    - you're earning at least £95 a week

My inside contacts inform me that Purdie is on a 2 year contract of £85/wk and therefore entitled to SSP of £79.15/wk.
