It’s sensitive information which probably cannot be aired just now, you can’t expect to be told the ins and outs of everything that goes on behind the scenes.

Just trust the trust to be acting in the supporters best interests.

If you want to know everything that goes on join the trust and seek election to the board.

And no I am not on the trust!!!

The basics can be aired (otherwise Mike Minay could have revealed it) and as for confidentiality, it can be that sensitive kit Minay got hold of it, either that or the trust had got a mole ?

    FFS...What you on about???

The trust are simply informing supporters that negotiations are underway in an attempt to buy the ground.

ie. Keeping fans in the loop.

    ie. Keeping fans informed.

Tracy has said no further statement will be made at this time.

Take it you are on the trust by your reaction ? ... no further statement will be made ... is that keeping the fans in the loop ... if the trust need to raise money to buy the ground , then why aren’t they organising fundraising groups , are they going to have a whip-round between themselves or have they got a secret investor tucked away somewhere?

You think there's enough land there to justify the £6 million + price tag and everything that goes with it?

If it includes the Joe Royle stand then yes, they paid the council £3m for the land and the Royle stand allegedly cost £4 million , do guess they’re trying to get their money back

I just don’t understand why someone would pay £6m for the land and North Stand unless they were connected to the club and safeguarding our future.

Am I right in thinking that the land cannot be developed for anything other than the football club without our authority until 2031?  If so, why buy to develop because you’d need to relocate the club or compensate us to relocate.  Even if that happened, I doubt there’s £6m available even after profiting from housing plus funding that relocation.  Even a Tesco building an Extra there couldn’t afford to pay us off the move.

This means someone is buying to then hopefully sell back to the club, at a profit, when we can afford it.  Unless AL finds the cash personally or finds someone willing to waste over £6m, we cannot afford to buy it back until we’ve reached the Premier League.

There is one other scenario; AL/owner, sick of the condition of the three stands, decides to relocate the club.  This therefore allows the land owner to develop without having to compensate the club.

Planned permission was previously given to build house  (including afford houses / accommodation for nurses) on the land surrounding the ground (car park etc)

Why is there always loads of negativity on here from the usual few whenever a major announcement has broken, the trust are merely keeping fans in the loop.....I sometimes wish that they would say fuck all!!!

Keeping fans in the loop, which loop is that that then... nowhere in the statement issued by the trust does it mention anything about an offer being made on the ground , so either they are being economical with the truth or Mike Minay has got it wrong ????

Who would you drop for him to even get back in?  Nah.

Midfield has been an issue most of the season, maybe it’s the way we set up, maybe it’s because we’ve got too many holding / defensive midfields , but I’m sure that Scholes can make  Gardner in to a useful player

Congratulations on your first decent post. Whether he wants to learn from the best or not, I’d love to never see him in an Oldham shirt again.

    Virtual upvote 🤜

Wow high praise indeed. You can’t fault Gardner for his industry,  but his end product has been poor, sure with Scholes guidance he can be come a great player .

Gardner was on Radio Manchester earlier talking about the Scholes appointment.

Also said that he'd had an operation last week and wouldn't be fit until next season. So we might well have seen the last of him.

The problem with Gardner , is they he’s not half as good as he thinks he is.., can’t pass to save his life (or certainly forward anyway), I’ve lost count of the number of times promising attack’s have broken down because he passed to the opposition. However , considering that Scholes is widely acknowledged as one of the best passers of the bell in recent times, I would have thought he wanted to learn from the best ,

You'd think so but Dearnley may start and it will be interesting to see what he does about the Left Back situation.

I will be interested to see how he handles Jose Baxter he might be the one person who can both appreciate Baxters natural ability and who coùld get the best out of him we will see.

It will be difficult to drop branger sfter that performance, nepo played well, but clearly isn’t a full back  and better opposition would have caught us out. Hopefully Scholes has been in the background for the past couple of weeks and will know the strengths and weaknesses of the squad.

Keegan and his usual lies. Nothing will be announced today. It will be Sunday at the earliest but i would expect Monday. Scholes will definitely be in charge for tuesday night

Apparently the delay has been  caused by AL conducting a witch hunt to find the source of the leak , so that he can sack them (like he has done with half of the clubs employees)...

....and the same hasn’t happened under Corney?  Difference is I knew Moore had the money, I don’t with Lemsagam nor did I with Corney.   Moore did bankroll the club at the tune of over £5m during his tenure and we were able to sell off players he bought to cover some debts and entice Chaytow at the time because that loan was written off.

I agree that Moore, Corney, Lemsagam were/are staking the club beyond our means.  I don’t want to sully the appointment of Scholes because this could well be the catalyst if Lemsagam leaves him to recruit and select.  However how are we affording him if the rumours are correct that it’s £300k salary?!

The difference is Corney, ( and to some extent Blitz and Gazal ) stayed loyal to the club for 14 years it and without them Oldham Athletic wouldn’t be in existence

  12. 1 hour ago, Midsblue said:

Aside from the Royle era, that season under Dowie was one of the best I experienced as a fan.  Moore bankrolled us then he was hit financially - exactly the same as Blitz & Gazal

Err no he didn’t , Moore’s actions (living beyond our means) directly led to the club being placed in administration, we were just his play thing and no doubt used to launder his dodgy money and he ditched us when we no longer suited his purpose

Scapegoat? We all have players we rate and don't rate and opinions can be polar opposites.

I'm just saying it how I personally see it, he was shit first time round and hasn't come back any better, he's had a purple patch but that's about it, our fans fascination with big immobile lumps up front is weird as is the notion the likes of O'Grady somehow make someone like Surridge a better player, let's see if someone like Scholes bases the attacking threat around him I very much doubt it.

The problem faced by both Bunn and Wild) is thanks to AL, they have very little option but to play either Miller or O’Grady up front ie players like Duffus frozen out and forced to train with the youth team . As for O’Grady, you can’t knock the effect he puts in every game, which is something you can’t say for some of the players (like Baxter)

  14. 2 hours ago, yarddog73 said:

As for O'Grady he's shite, nice lad but absolutely toothless for 90% of the season and I'd be staggered if he's Scholes preferred starting option.

I guess everybody needs a scapegoat and O’Grady is clearly yours ,  but you need to look at the bigger picture, his role in the team hold ball and link up play , and (until his sacking) FB had started to develop him in the player he can be (which is evident by his recent goal scoring form)

  15. 3 minutes ago, deyres42 said:

I get the sense he's not been impressed with the previous two and having Scholes about will play to his ego.

Perhaps  FB’s sacking had something to do with one of the players (allegedly) grabbing AL by the throat when he stormed in to the dressing room after the Exeter game .

Lets hope Scholes in the stands tomorrow v Crawley and the lads turn it on for the new manager in waiting.

I would like to think that Scholes, has, been involved with first team training, even if it is only in an advisory role. And let’s hope he or Pete Wild (and not the chuckle brothers ) get to choose the team

  17. 2 hours ago, yarddog73 said:

I agree and I suspect part of any Scholes deal will include a joint agreement with regards to future transfers. It's okay a chairman having an input along with a Sporting Director but they have to start trusting people to do their jobs otherwise he might as well as appoint himself as manager.

It would help if the sporting director had a little more credentials than being the owners brother

Sounds like there are some dodgy goings-on on. But, fuck me, Corney got 15 years before (most) people seriously started questioning him. Talk of banners and tennis ball chucking is too premature. First full season in charge for him... We're not going down. Let's see what happens between now and August.

Sure some of the headhunters on here were some of the one's who cut Corney slack an all.

What you need to realise that without Corney Blitz and Gazal, there would be no Oldham Athletic and didn’t f..k after 2 years like Chris Moore. Corney may not have been perfect but unlike our current owner, he left team selection , recruitment and discipline to the manager and didn’t storm in to the dressing room throwing his toys out of his pram

They approached the Trust, we originally thought it might be around setting up the fans bar in the Royle stand, but alas it was not.

I will presume as the majority of successful businesses, they do have a future plan in place with regards to them being landlords of BP. However, we are not at that stage of the relationship they are going to tell us what it is as it will be commercially sensitive stuff, and emotive stuff as well.

Your last paragraph, yes they could evict us and if any other landlord tennant situation they have the legal right too...but lets face it being the tennant being a football club, they would have quite a few thousand not so happy fans, fellow business owners on their backs and the council. (Well i hope we would)

so back to your first paragraph, this is probably their first/most recent engagement with fans. Its a time maybe to ask that question and maybe then based on their answers, we can then set up another Q and A specifically on a topic if need be.

Is a chance for the fans to get your questions in....rather than the Trust asking our own questions then getting hammered for doing a Q and A and NOT getting you all involved.

Just a thought, but being as the trust, brass bank  and Lemsagam all have a shared interest, wouldn’t it have been a good idea to get all 3 parties sat down together ?
