Whilst I read many posts I have never before contributed but the worrying downward spiral is cause for concern. When we were doing well (Upto Scunthorpe at Home imo) our forward play was reminiscent of the Joe Royle era. Flowing, passing football from the back, with good slick distribution. The current full backs do not overlap, do not offer an option and, Lomax whilst acknowledged by JS an elegant footballer has certainly mastered the lazy lob. (This is not his bedroom companion but a long looping hopeful diagonal punt served up best for opposition centre halves on alomost each occassion he crosses the halfway line.) defensively he is improving but for gods sake learn to pass/cross.
The new lad from Reading looks awful (a goal line clearance from stockport excepted.) Three games in and I have yet to see him beat a man or clear the first man when crossing. From open play I have yet to see him go past a man. On occassions where this looks likely or possible the poor lad suffers a crisis of confidence and either squares it or passes back.
Any threat from what started the season as an attacking option is now completely absent, and is certainly contributing to the lack of any meaningful support to the forwards . Whilst i accept they are both young and learning their trade they are professional footballers and they need to do better.
