  1. "Played Well Lacked cutting edge.... (The usual)..." As predicted rolled out on GMR With such a lack of firepower why take Pav off? Either DP is a Football genius or seriously deluded. We needed a striker before the season, we still need a striker....SORT IT or we will be playing in a league below Bury and Rochdale for the first time in my lifetime.
  2. Played Well Lacked cutting edge.... (The usual)... You cant legislate for individual errors... (All too Familiar) We matched them for ... minutes (regular) The seventh goal was the icing on the cake and no more than we deserved...(Fantasy but you never know) To be fair I wouldnt mind any of the above as long as their is some attacking intent, desire and pride in the blue shirt. As I have a four hour round trip tomorrow please Dave make it worthwhile.
  3. I can never remember a time when the football played was so uninspiring. Short on goals since the start of the season with only Pav as an out and out striker. Bring in Blackman and not played? Ship out O'Grady. Bring in Heff who goes back and sign Goodwin. On tonights performance, the problems we have were identified before the season and not adressed are still the ones killing us. Goals win games, wins breed confidence and retains fans. If you can't score you can't win and soon as you concede there is no way back. I have been a season ticket holder for 32 years. This will be my last season. The team is littered by identikit journeymen with no affiliation or loyalty to the club. There is a reveloving door every summer and a new team starts out again. The quality of football on display has plummeted to unimaginable depths and the hunger that was promised from a new younger team is completely lacking. If as a professional footballer you cannot raise your game against relegation rivals and show endeavor and commitment then you do not deserve to represent my club. If the manager cannot motivate the team for an important game then you too do not deserve to represent my club. A lack of quality I can accept, A lack of spirit I cannot. Worrried - Yes
  4. Yet another awful display, and I keenly await the tactical insight from DP. Pick from the following or add your own: We lacked cutting edge / didn't take our chances (the usual favourite) We were short of match fitness..... There were positives..... Deane Smalley is a gifted and committed footballer... on Fifa 10 so it must be true 4-5-1 is the attacking secret that nobody has yet stumbled upon and is "total football." (or was it supposed to be 4-3-3 Who knows Smalley certainly didnt) Ronnie Moore is a tactical messiah and we have been working on the 1-2-hoof all month in training and it worked a treat.... Jim Goodwin can trap a ball further than most can kick it. That is the worst performance I have ever witnessed. No Pride, No Passion, No Goals......No Fans. If you cannot motivate a team when you sit fourth from bottom against a team below you is mistifying. I have never subscribed to the conspiracy theorists but you have to wonder
  5. Pete lives in Germany now I think, give me a couple of days and I may be of more help.
  6. From the OS: Their goals came from mistakes......We had no cutting edge.... Shall we write next weeks while we're at it. How many times has our lack of cutting edge cost us and we replace Heff with a defensive midfielder - pure genius.
  7. Anybody want to guess DP's post match verdict. Silly mistakes cost us.... If we'd taken our chances..... Lads worked hard..... I've done my best lads, cant polish a ....... Unfortunately the words change occassionally the ulimate meaning doesn't. Just not good enough.
  8. Just out of interest.. Preston defender Neal Trotman has joined League One outfit Colchester on a month's loan. The former Oldham centre-back, 22, has recently returned to fitness with a handful of reserve-team fixtures following a long injury lay-off. Alan Irvine is keen for Trotman to improve his match fitness and he is expected to go into Paul Lambert's squad for the trip to Leicester this weekend.
  9. Whilst I read many posts I have never before contributed but the worrying downward spiral is cause for concern. When we were doing well (Upto Scunthorpe at Home imo) our forward play was reminiscent of the Joe Royle era. Flowing, passing football from the back, with good slick distribution. The current full backs do not overlap, do not offer an option and, Lomax whilst acknowledged by JS an elegant footballer has certainly mastered the lazy lob. (This is not his bedroom companion but a long looping hopeful diagonal punt served up best for opposition centre halves on alomost each occassion he crosses the halfway line.) defensively he is improving but for gods sake learn to pass/cross. The new lad from Reading looks awful (a goal line clearance from stockport excepted.) Three games in and I have yet to see him beat a man or clear the first man when crossing. From open play I have yet to see him go past a man. On occassions where this looks likely or possible the poor lad suffers a crisis of confidence and either squares it or passes back. Any threat from what started the season as an attacking option is now completely absent, and is certainly contributing to the lack of any meaningful support to the forwards . Whilst i accept they are both young and learning their trade they are professional footballers and they need to do better.
