  1. Surprise surprise it’s Sylla ere.. Could be a lorra lorra fun. Welcome to BP
  2. Truly awful. Can somebody do a headcount as they appear to have more men than us. Or just more will to win.
  3. May not be relevant here, but this song is definitely dedicated to another Latins legend: (London Grammer - sights after 55 seconds) Listened many times and it is definitely worshipping our 6 goal hero
  4. 4 seat reservations cancelled after 30 years of holding a ST but enough is enough. I await Corneys bleating about whether the town deserves a club. The £1100 is a significant outlay for me personally, but I cannot continue to support this regime which has effectively killed any positivity created last week. The appointment of a man with such low standing within football baffles me, especially as the voice of experience will be provided by DH. Corney will back his men which is admirable, but I cannot. Whether you agree with his politics is a side issue, what is more of a concern is that due diligence should have identified the potential of this appointment to divide the fanbase and give cause for people to walk away in numbers, especially at a time that should have heralded a new dawn. The club officials are either blind, arrogant or simply do not care. I hope he is a success, but a club that used to be regarded as a family club and at the heart of the community cannot of become more distant. It is clear that the business side of the club is to take precedent for the future. On that basis you can no longer loyally continue to throw good money away. I fully expect the key players to leave. How does a man who commands the response, "Who?" retain and attract quality players.
  5. Why refer to re - building a squad that has a core already contracted and performed well until the circus period. This can only be preparation for a fire sale.what should have been the foundation to build success has been blown apart. It will be interesting to know how many reserved tickets will now be purchased.
  6. This guy is not qualified enough to be considered a rookie. 4 months at Sunderland, and less than three years with Yorks kids. He has no relevant experience at first team level, and only limited experience of league football. This is a shocker and I shall be withholding my £1100. I always believed Corney had the best interests of the club in mind, but this completely changes my view.
  7. With an underwhelming CV. He must be phenomenal at interview. 5 months at Sunderland starting in Jan, after less than 3 years in youth development at the footballing giant of York. The new board members with PR experience are definitely going to earn their corn selling this to the dwindling masses.
  8. Connor Brown for me too. Made some great runs and showed passion and commitment. The game was OK at best. Tactics awful with defensive set up against 10 men. Still looks like they will have time to perfect the negative football next season.
  9. The final nail in the coffin. How bad must the candidates have been if he stood out. If ever there was a white flag of ambition, Corney is waving it.
  10. As a fan of our club all you have is hope. This appointment if true is concerning. My ST renewals will cost £1100. A decision governed by the heart not the head. For the first time in 25 years I may have to listen to head. If rumours of the playing assets being stripped again and an underwhelming appointment imminent is the best I can hope for 56 points and survival? With the new stand should be optimism. This is a masterclass on how to remove the gloss. As usual we will back whoever comes in. Personally I will now not be taking my ST option at this stage, but will look and see what the summer brings. If the team is stripped again I cannot see myself doing anything more than picking my games.
  11. Because the alternative is that we have bought a lemon and made him captain
  12. Brown in. Not his best game today, but at least he showed forward intent. He was a key part of a solid defence that now looks like a colander. He is young and improved dramatically last term. When LJ eventually decides on a system and a plan, rather than the current crammed midfield and no outlet tactic, we may see the best out of either player but at the moment and based on the early showing its Connor for me.
  13. What happened to the team that looked competitive against Newcastle? Until George can learn we play in blue and he can curtail his HOOFING he should not be anyway near the team - dreadful today some have called him a leader, can't see it myself. Has he been introduced to James Wilson yet as they were absolute strangers. Liam Kelly cannot be fit, he surely cannot be as dire as his first three appearances would suggest. Winchester should come into the centre with James Casper Dayton on the right. The only forward intent and strength on the ball came from Winchester supported in part from Jones. On current showing Kelly cannot justify his place. Winchester is the only real positive from todays abject showing, some may be excused as being played out of position but the way we surrendered is unpalatable. The assembled team looks as poor as I can remember and has relegation fodder stamped all over it. Fortunately its early days but LJ needs to sort this out quickly or prey there are four worse teams in the division. We were told that the additions would add quality. We looked reasonable first half, but when Slade changed things and stifled Forte we had no response other than a long punt. We had no plan B and the football deteriorated to Sunday league standard. Awful, truly awful.
  14. George Elokobi Footballer or comic genius. We play in blue George HOOOOF Liam Kelly the living embodiment of the danger of "The old boys club" - Woeful today
  15. Can anybody explain the point in narrowing the pitch? I am sure there is a good reason and explains our lack of wingers. Last night when we had possession we did a lot of short passes but never seemed likely to build anything. The result tended to be- pass pass pass loose it, or pass pass diagonal hoof loose it. There never seemed to be an option to get the oppo turned round. It seemed to inhibit us far more than boro. I am no tactical genius and await insightful comment to explain that I have it wrong, from the learned posters.
  16. If you got the same match day experience in both stands then fair enough. The fact is you don't. The RRE has no restricted view, in the chaddy you spend your time ducking round the posts. Taking my 6 yr old daughter to the cov game was a nightmare. Toilet facilities are poor for a young girl, the view is poor, atmosphere is poor no matter how hard everybody tries. Why on earth should you condemn your own supporters to the poorest facilities. For me it shows a complete lack of insight and understanding of the fans match day requirements from the latics hierarchy. Granted there is a need to maximise match day income for the club but for as long as the current policy exists I will not be renewing our RRE season tickets and will pick my games where I can sit in my preferred stand with the facilities that best suit our needs.
  17. looks good, but from those images take your cagoule, brollie, shower cap, soap on a rope....looks like the old paddock has been improved and restored. I hope they have discovered some architectural marvel that can deflect rain, but on first impression that roof line looks to offer little protection. That said it is Oldham and the weather is part of the charm.
  18. Below is an email sent to Barry owen in July 2010, after an earlier email to Alan Hardy essentilly outlining the benefits of FIT schemes and RHI payments these are explained. Barry I have forwarded this on to the club but have had no acknowledgement and there are some serious and potenially free benefits for the development. Whilst carrying out my day job selling Ground and Air source heat pumps for a living I have had a number of conversations which may be of interest to Oldham Athletic and in particular the proposed new stadium development. 1) Income from Electricity Generation from FIT’s 2) Income from Heat Generation from RHI 3) Income from rentable office space. 1) The government has recently introduced Feed in Tarrifs for entities that generate and use or export electricity. As the new stadium will have a vast acreage of roof space this could be used to install Solar Photovoltaic panals that could supply and generate electricity both for the stadium and the surrounding area. This has the potential to generate income for the football club for 25 years. There are three separate ways that the Tariffs help you make money from generating your own energy: The Generation Tariff: You earn a fixed income for every kilowatt hour of electricity you generate and use in your property. In the case of OAFC this is likely to be in the region of 30p per KWhr The Export Tariff: You earn an additional fixed income for every kilowatt hour of electricity you generate and sell back to the grid. This will be set at a higher rate say 33p per KwHr. I would imagine on a day to day basis the club could be a nett exporter of energy so enjoy payments at the higher tarrif level. The bit you still buy from your electricity supplier: When you can’t generate enough electricity for your needs (if the wind don’t blow and the sun don’t shine) you still buy electricity from your utility company at the normal rates but it’ll be much less electricity than you currently buy. Feed in Tarrifs: Solar PV >10 - 100kW 31.4 25 Solar PV >100kW - 5MW 29.3 25 Solar PV Standalone[C] 29.3 25 Further information can be found at: www.fitariffs.co.uk 2) The Renewable Heat Incentive: This is a scheme set to be launched in April 2011. And will offer payments for companies or individuals that install sustainable heating products such as in my case heat pumps. The main benefit of the RHI is the generation tariff, which is paid for every kilowatt-hour of energy produced. The level of payment varies depending on the technology and the system size. The proposed tariff levels within the consultation document for the Renewable Heat Incentive are as follows. Air Source Heat Pumps 7.5p/kwh for 18 years Ground Source Heat Pump 7p/Kwh for 23 years However, these numbers are not final and may be moved up or down. We won't find out until the response to the consultation document is published. Further information can be found at: www.rhincentive.co.uk Both the schemes proposed are available to you and could not only provide running cost saves, deliver an income, but make the proposed development sustainable and “green”. All of which would put a positive spin on the development. Should the capital costs of these measures prove prohibitive I have been involved with a number of venture capitalists who are falling over themselves to fund PV installs particularly on large scale developments. They buy and install the equipment yet retain the Feed in Tarrif. The club would still benefit due to lower running costs and a sustainable development. 3) Finally, I have been looking for serviced office space in the North West and have been forced to take an office on Salford Quays. I could not find anywhere on the North side of Manchester. The fees from Regus ranged from £700-£1000 per month. I was thinking if any of your proposed hospitality areas / boxes could be made into offices on the days when no match is being played. This would deliver an income from areas that would usually be dormant. May be workable, may not, but worth considering. Regards Glenn Harrison
  19. For me Mvoto was poor. He is undoubtedly a class act on his day, but this seasons form has been poor. Was second best to headers for much of the game, allowed players to run at him which last year would have been dealt with. He will come good again, but we were a long way from being solid yetserday
  20. As a long standing latics fan, the trust, and Barry is my voice. Whilst I do not always agree with everything he says, I respect the time energy, enthusiasm and obvious passion with which Barry conducts himself. I have personally dealt with numerous clubs, quorums and quangos and understand the frustrating nature of these dealings. WIth a football club such as ours the issues quite rightly will stir passions and whilst he may try to act in the interests of the many he will upset the rest. Damned if you do and damned if you don't. This role must feel like a poison chalice.
  21. Since his early season great form Dale has recently become the new Casper. In the early season we had a hard working midfield with Alessandro and Jones grafting and Dale being allowed to be more the luxury player. Now we have brought in Morais and Evina players that add greater technical ability we have lost our graft in the center of the park. The last three games have passed Dale by with Furman having to do all the dirty work with little assistance. too many times tonight albeit against a far superior opposition Dale seemed to be isolated, not involved and more worryingly not working hard to get involved. He is a fantastic prospect but either needs some time out or to put more effort in. Tonight showed we cannot carry any passengers and I am afraid in the last couple of games Dale has been too much of a bystander.
  22. I have been impressed with the energy and industry of midfield. Today in the first half and early into the second half we struggled to have an out ball. The bring problem seems to be that Taylor is always looking to come inside and not offer any width, this makes the whols thing congested. (For the record I also wish he would grow some and stop rolling around at every available opportunity). He is a good young player but seems to lack a football brain at times. The change to 4-3-3 changed the game so well done to Dickov - That would not have happened last year. We are forming the basis of a good side, but too much of our play runs into cul de sacs in the middle of the pitch. Get some chalk on yer boots and get some width.
  23. Nice idea, but when we have tried 433 this season it has always ended up as 451 with little focus on attack. I fear that without the replacement striker the emphasis will once more be upon not getting beat, and hopefully nicking a goal. When Nardiello left the field off on Tuesday so did any attacking intent.
  24. underwhelmed, retaining a defensive midfielder who to date has evidenced no ability to even pass water succesfully, and a jourenyman non scoring striker for a month. Still they could turn into the next Milligan and Palmer.
