  1. Kanchelskis played in by Irwin for 2ndgoal. Irwin scored first

Stainrod scored a cracker against us just before signing at Bramhall Lane

    Ormondroyd scored plenty against us.

As said elsewhere its easier to find those that didn't score.

Hang on, was it Stainrod who scored at BP and then jumped on the fence at the away end to celebrate then? (I have a shiite memory!)

And didn't Ormondroyd score plenty against us for Bratford (he murdered us in that snowy FA Cup tie at Valley Parade) BEFORE he signed for us on load and then score only one goal as Futcher's "replacement". He then went on to Villa but I can't remember him scoring against us for them....

<waits to be proved wrong yet again!>

  2. Irwin scored the first, Kanchelskis the second, Robson punched in the third and Giggs the fourth! If yer don't believe me dig out the vid!

    Or look here,

    http://www.soccerbase.com/results3.sd?gameid=219448

(Goals are listed in the wrong order though!)

I believe you, I used a Mancs web site as my source earlier - big mistake. I was at the match and I remember Kanchelskis giving us a run around. But after you mentioned it I remember Robson's dubious goal. I don't think I kept a vid of that match (or the first at Wembley...) I also remember "Dissa" pulling one back for us but we were never in it after the previous match on Sunday...

  3. *Cough* he came FROM the Wendies.

I do remember him scoring for us against the Wendies at Hillsboro though  , the Wendies were not best happy at we found at HT in the Leppings Lane.

Lets just say i got a bin on my napper at HT lol  Happy Days ^_^

Right he came from Wendies. So who did he score for when he came back to BP. Think it was a Yarkshire team: Sheff Utd? Barnsley?

  4. you all forgot richie :censored: for donny

Didn't Rodger Wylde get a hat-trick for Sheff Wed. against us at BP in the 1980s? He celebrated one goal by climbing on the Roch Road End perimeter fence in front of the away fans.

Like someone else said most ex-players score against us, it'd be easier to name the ones that haven't scored against us...

Moose Marshall's was cruel in the 3-0 opening day defeat to Ipswich in 1993!

  5. I actually found that picture the other day on my computer. I will attempt to put it on here tonight. SC looks absolutely terrified of Chickers on that photo. The fact that he had bought a bottle of chapagne for him and his "lady friend" and Chcikers goes over and asked if he could have it was bizarre. Top night.

I forgot about the champagne - didn't you organise a whip-round to get SC the bottle of the Litten Tree's finest champers?!? Chickers does something daft? Shocker!

  6. Newcastle or Sunderland would do very nicely.

I've built up an unnatural hatred of Sheffield United over the years too.

This is a great question... I think when you take the Manc teams out (and force us to think) - it is a lot to do with other fans you know or work with.

But I have to start with Leeds because we used to play them so much at one time and their fans were so arrogant. Then Bratford, B*stard Rovers (especially away), Port Vale away (again away), Lashers, Trannies, Newcastle... I have a similar aversion to Sheff Utd too.

  7. I've no problem with them standing with the fans. Infact SC agreed to come on a booze bus a season or two back but it was the Lashers away game that was going to see temperatures of minus 8 that night and thus was cancelled. Gutted!

Was that midweek between Xmas & New Year a few years ago? We, the now-disbanded 'official' message board "clique", went on the pish instead and SC was in the Litten Tree. So he was "treated" to our well wishes and an slightly inebriated, yet emotional (and a bit overdue) "Thanks for saving my club" from me...

But he never bought that pint he promised me when he came to this part of the US though... Wonder why not?!?

  8. Yes that's the one i spent the rest of the game in the main stand

Went back to Middleton with a mate after the game still fighting long after the match

I remember that too - think I ended up in Main Stand paddock.

But wasn't the home game v. City worse on a Good Friday - the first year City game down. Early 80s, I think. City fans were everywhere and there was trouble in town as well.

I remember another time we played City at home and it pished it down all match and then stopped. The City fans were soaked from being in the uncovered RRE. Me and my mate accidentally ended up walking up Sheepfoot Lane with them all... We kept quiet and they never clocked that we were bone dry.... :o

  9. I've seen plenty of Latics media over the last year, this skipped past me - I don't think we've posted this before on OWTB...

Cheers Matt. It's brilliant to see that! I think the only reason we were on telly that day was our undersoil heating kept the match on when everyone else's in the area was postponed (or am I too cynical!)

    # "I never felt more like singing the blues when Oldham win and Watford lose..." # Quality.

  10. Seeing the latest "Oh what a shirt" reminded me that the Roch. Rd End used to be a massive open terrace before it was reduced by approx. half. Does anyone have a photo of it as I'm getting all nostalgic? Thx.

In fact the first time I went in BP was when my brother-in-law took me for the last 15 mins in the RRE (think it was against Bristol Rovers in 76/77 season). He did that a couple of times (he was always a tight git!) but we saw a couple of goals.

  11. For the younger lads and lasses on here:

Back Row L-R: Rick Holden, Redfearn, Andy Holden, Donachie, Irwin, Moulden

Middle: Ronnie Evans (kit manager and Ass. Physio, Billy Urmson, Williams, Adams, Henry, Hallworth, Rhodes, Warhurst, Ritchie, Liversidge (physio)

Front Row: McGarvey, Palmer, Marshall, Milligan, Royle, Barrett, Barlow, Bunn, Heseltine

Gentleman I salute you all, happy days when we were unbeatable on Plastic Paradise!

    :imnotworthy::imnotworthy::imnotworthy::imnotworthy::imnotworthy::imnotworthy::imnotworthy::imnotworthy:

    Aye, Fantastic on Plastic.

The sight of the enclosure fence around the RRE reminds how pathetic it was for keeping the away fans in at the end of the match. And the grass pitch at the top provided away fans with a nice spot for a half-time kickabout. You don't get that in the Prem. or anywhere else these days...

  12. Left there in 1974. What about Mr Street getting time for abusing those Kids????

I left there in 1984. Great school, shame about the location. Although, it was a good/different-type of education when trying to get the bus home back to Derker!

Saw that in the Chron last year about Mr. Street - always thought he was a bit strange. He taught us German. Thank f**k he didn't teach P.E.

  13.

    Rick Holden or David Eyres

Joe Royle or Jimmy Frizzell - tough one but it has to be JR for the "Pinch Me" era

    Luke Beckett or Chris Porter

    Earl Barrett or Fitz Hall

    Neil Kilkenny or Richie Wellens

    Wayne Andrews or Jermaine Johnson

Ronnie Jepson or Phil Starbuck - hmmm...

    Sean Garnett or Guy Branston

Roger Palmer or Frankie Bunn - attacking midfielder c.f. out and out striker? I can't choose - our fortunes dramatically changed when Bunn arrived.

    Neil Redfern or John Sheridan

Jim Fryatt or David Shaw - Never saw Fryatt

    Dennis Irwin or Andy Barlow

    Toddy Orlygsson or Gunnar Halle

Andy Goram or Paul Gerrard - first time around obviously.

  14. Blimey, this thread's taken me right down memory lane.

Spent a lot of time and money in Dreamers too. Great place but I never worked out what the entry criteria were. You could be dressed up decently and sober as a judge and be refused, then go the following night in jeans, trainers nine or 10 pints to the good and be welcomed with open arms.

I know what you mean about Dreamers Kets. Used to go in every Friday - great music etc. But if Tommy Hefron said no, you didn't ask why! I went there once and he said I'd had too much to drink so he wouldn't let me in. So I went to the chippy, walked round for it a bit, went back to Dreamers and got in without a word! Great place. At that time Monty's was the most popular club but Dreamers was like an under-rated gem.

You missed Froggies in your list earlier - or are you pretending you didn't go in there?!?

Has anyone mentioned the Cabaret?!? Another "quality" club...

  15. It was defo Cec's hayday, the hat trick against :censored: Rovers and the goal against Leeds were the highlights of his Latics career. Sadly he was another in a long line of promising young home grown strikers that have delivered so little.

Yes, sounds like a new thread's developing there... Carlo Corrazzin = the new Cec?

Who did Carlo hit four past to, temporarily, silence his critics?
