  1. Hi You Latics Friendly Terriers fan here. Thought I'd drop in and test the pre-match 'opinions water' so to speak! How do you see the game going? For my part, just like the rest of our season, going into games I feel confident that if we play to our potential then we'll give a good account of ourselves but our season is littered (already) with false starts. We drew at Southend Utd early on (never an easy place to play so a decent result), we won at MK Dons (great performance) and although we lost 2-1 at Charlton Athletic in our last away game, their fans said we're the best team they've played so far. We beat Leyton Orient 4-0 at home last weekend which was a fair reflection of a game that we dominated for long spells. In fact at times (especially when we were 3-0 up) we looked like a very good side. On the downside, we do tend to blow hot and cold during games and so far teams that stop us playing our passing game by shear effort and hard work usually do well against us. It really does upset our rhythm and we struggle to cope. We are learning to do that but it's taking time. Apart from the Millwall away we've not really been totally dominated by a team but that day we just 'didn't turn up'. Without doubt all the town fans will be urging our lads on to big performance on Sunday and with the added spice of ex-players and a few Leeds exiles in your team the atmosphere should be cracking. Hope that doesn't boil over into any post-match silliness as in the last few seasons, I can live with the banter but when it's starts spilling over into mindless violence I despair to be honest. So what do lot think?
  2. 'The Market Tavern' on the right as you walk from the station on Leeds Road is okay. Pass Gasworks Street and it's on the right. Another 'away fan' friendly is the 'Rope Walk' next to the stadium but be prepared to que to the bar. Pubs in Town are all pretty much 'home' pubs. Regards AceT (HTFC)
  3. No way! We're all chuffed to bits with how things are right now thanks! Mind, I dare say if we lose on Saturday some folk will be looking for some thing to campaign about. But the club have even let us use the South Stand as a 'home end' for a few games as well which is nice of them. In fact the atmosphere generated was awesome! You lot should be bloody loud in there on Saturday. Hope you enjoy yourselves but not too much! Hey? AceT
  4. Gaypharm? Are you latent?... No offense but comments such as that usually come from those who are . Mainly Bradford City fans, truth be known. However, I'll forgive you that little indiscretion, this being your message board an all. I don't doubt your lads will come into this game thinking they can win it but our lads will too of course. One thing for sure, if we play like we did against Scunny (particularly in the 2nd half) we'll bury you, as we would most teams in the League! I'm looking for another absolutely convincing performance against another 'in form' team and if we deliver that, I say watch out League One, we could be the dark-horse team! AceT
  5. ...And a Happy New Year to you too! Seriously though, do really expect to win by that kind of margin? That said, I note you gained a very creditable 2-2 draw at Peterborough Utd, a team that thrashed us 4-0 at London Road. Mind you that was under Stanley T. But then I note your unbeaten run contains a lot of drawn games, unlike ours that has seen seven victories in nine games, including wins over Leeds Utd, Southend Utd and Scunthorpe Utd. Like I say, it looks like being a good'un. AceT
  6. I wouldn't normally get overly excited at the prospect of a Terriers v Latics match but on this occasion I admit, I really am getting that way. There's a real buzz about 'The Pharm' these days, we're on a decent run of form (except for the blip at Carlisle) and so are Oldham (is it eight undefeated?) and games against the two sides are always high pretty high tempo in any case so, it all bodes well for an excellent match. Latics always seem to play well at our place and you lot seem to enjoy the day out so come on!... Who's going to take the spoils on Saturday? AceT (HTFC)
  7. I think the second automatic spot will be taken by the winner of Saturdays match. AceT
  8. Sadly, most football clubs have their hoolie element but isn't this thread about the absence of police around the ground after the game? The only police I saw after the game were dog handlers in the car park between the Rochdale Road Stand and the Paddock Stand (?). Other than that nothing! It was clear during the game that each set of hoolies were reving up for a pst-match rook The truth is if these want to kick off there's not a lot the OB can do about it, especially with large numbers wanting it! AceT
  9. Yeah that was it! All OUR noise got lost in the wind! AceT
  10. He did when he missed 'a sitter' in front of us lot in the second though! AceT
  11. Can I suggest a visit to the docs for your ears syringing on Monday morning mate? We could even hear an echo off the Chaddy End! But seriously, it sound pretty loud where we were and there was constant chanting throughout. On a technical note, sometimes a half empty stand actually sounds louder with the noise able to bounce around more. We too couldn't hear Latics fans either to be honest! While I'm on here! - I'm sorry to read some OWTB's forum members don't like opposing fans being allowed to post. Surely if visiting fans are sensible and inoffensive it isn't a problem. I always enjoyed sharing comments with other fans, both on these kinds of message boards or indeed in the pub before and after games, so it would be a shame to ban visitors form joining in. AceT
  12. The worrying things is, there's a section of young men (18 -30) amongst our football crowds who blatantly demonstrate a total disregard for other people. Yesterday illustrated the point in question. Despite many attempts by stewards and police to control the Oldham fans in the paddock (?) area, they failed to do so. By control, I mean to get them to sit down, stop gesticulating threats of violence to our crowd and to generally behave themselves. It was these same individuals who I personally witnessed causing trouble after the game. 'The authorities' will have (or should have) the video evidence they need to prosecute offending individuals so why can't they do so? I'm sure the general law abiding public would welcome it! Unfortunately, I'm sorry to say, week in week out, screwed up knob heads cause mayhem in public places almost with out any repercussions. All very sad! AceT
  13. Yeah! It's been that way before! Arrrrrrh well....................... here goes! May the best team win etc! Regards AceT
  14. Two coats day today then! See I'm an old codger who can't stand the win and cold. Looking to get over to BP area around 12.30pm, any pubs to recommend. In the past I've used the 'Rifle Range' until they updated and ruined it. AceT
  15. Just my thoughts, we don't want a farce caused by the the weather! We can hardly keep the ball down in any case. Getting all excited all the same! Setting off in 25mins! AceT
  16. Good Morning everybody! What's it like over t'hill this morning? I live in L**ds and the wind here's very turbulent. Does high wind usually spoil games at BP is very exposed isn't it? AceT(HTFC)
  17. Jeeezzzzzzzzzzzzus I'm exhausted after the Chasetown Manager's rant! Don't know about you lot but I'm glad that guy's not motivating the opposition tomorrow. My pre-match would be quite a bit calmer though. Something like. Be first to the ball, find you're men, play with pride and passion but above all don't let the people down. AceT
  18. ...........to say have a great day tomorrow everybody. The FA Cup is really very special and now with a chance of reaching the last 16 it's got to be even more exciting. Being a Terriers fan I obviously want us to go through but lets hope we all enjoy the day. After all, we both have the prospect of pulling a big club (and money) in the next round. So good luck Oldham (not too much mind) and let the best team progress! AceT (HTFC)
  19. Name?: Acetripper Location?: Leeds How Long Supporting the Tics?: I don't Best away match you've been to: Most recent Chelsea FA Cup 3rd Rd 2006? All Time Greatest Player?: Denis Law Biggest Rivals (in your eyes)?: Leeds Utd Sorry but I'm Terriers fan looking for a bit of good humored pre-match, no insults and mutual respect banter with like minded Latics fans before and after the big game! - Please let me join in the fun! Kind regards! AceT
