  1. At a time that our club was at it's lowest ebb in my 25 years of support; we needed desperatley a hero that could give us hope.

As the team ran out at Rochdale for the pre-season friendly hardly any of them were recognisable. I feared for what would happen in the up coming season as the game un-folded. But in all of this there was one shining light.

I have never seen such a committed performance by any player in a pre-season game, the phrase 110% was written for you Ernie. I started to think that with more of this in the team, maybe, just maybe we might survive. But this didn't just happen once, it was each and everytime you pulled on the shirt. You are a real hero to us for that.

Best wishes in the battle ahead Ernie, you are a fighter, you gave us hope, and now we will do whatever we can for you.

Good luck Ernie from us all in Toronto, Canada. Keep the faith

  2. yep I remember bringing this topic up (about players not doing the right things in warm-ups and warm-downs) but I just got laughed out of town. Trust me when I say both need to be done to prevent and or reduce injury. As an ex-runner and ex-karate I use spent half an hour just streching before exercise and about 15-20 mins after exercise.

Ha su. wipe on wipe off Daniel son...

  3. Now, some people might take this as a wind up thread, it isn't so screw you.

Whats the update with Lee Hughes and his community work? When it was announced he was signing you couldn't move for Barry Owen (and I believe Hughes mentioned it during his press conference although I chose not to listen to it) saying how Hughes will be going into schools and youth clubs and explaining how he messed up his life and career with drink and other temptations and how positive it will be for him to talk to young players, yet so far we've only had one reported 'community' outing, and that was to present an award at a school named after a young lad killed by a drink driver. Was all this talk rubbish and just a way of trying to get the media off Hughes and the clubs case or has Hughes done these 'talks' without any reporting in the press or official site?

I may be wrong Co co but I thought this was going to be a end of season/close season agenda which would take the natioanl press of his back.

Ive only replied as one of my family work for alcohol abuse via social services in Oldham.

  4. There you go Lukers you have started the positive vibe

They are allowed to moan on here they pay their money .... hang on !!! No they dont

We have 24 hours left to loan some-one .. Who is it going to be and are we going to lose anyone ????

Thanks for the response, personally I think we have found some real prospects due to our horrendous injury list and I wouldnt like to see the squad sold off ( loan players we have no handle on).

Yep Eardly this . Taylor that. Smalley & Wolfendon are too small , loan keeper is gash , whatever your stance if these players need encouragement.

To be fair I could go on but I cant be bothered and I await the abuse , look around and see the clubs in administration it should be a reality check.

  5. It's not just you. Just don't read them - the moderators have to give freedom of speech - if people are replying, then some people are obviously interested in the topic.

Id rather be talking about possible signings. new stadiums, Shez loyalty to Latics in the dark days, TTA vision, the march, Everton away and the togtherness ( fans and players)... Or am I just a happy clapper...lol.

  6. Some people were slating him in the Lookers but I think he would be a different player if Hughes/ Davies played along side him.

Its obvious that he is not a target man and playing him up on his own wont get the best out of him and as a result he becomes isolated.

I would now if I was Shez start to use more of the younger home grown players and see how we go on. I am not against loan players and some do put a shift in BUT there cant be judging by todays performance couldnt do any worse than Jarret/Livermore.

During the second half I was sat on my own and began thinking of when Boundary Park has been rocking then I looked at the half empty stadium. We are not a million miles away from being a good team I still maintain if Shez could have put out his first team we would be in the play offs.

  7. Why can it not be successfully implemented in our setup. Look at the success Bristol Rovers have had with something similar.

Experience isn't a bad thing to be able to draw upon when needed, who has Shez got to do that with. He has already admitted pre Tranmere that he speaks to Ronnie Moore alot and Ronnie has helped him out when he has asked.

Just think it could be something that can be looked at, but not in a way that will undermine Shez.

    Billy Dearden.
