  1. The best fight i have ever seen in the UFC is Forest Griffin Vs Stephan Bonnar (I think it was the final of TUF Season 2 or 3 - correct me if i am wrong). An all out stand up punch fest for 3 rounds. Personally, I had Bonnar winning that fight but I cant blame DW for offering them both contracts. And i'm a big fan of Forrest Griffin just because he seems to love the sport and isn't just arsed about the money. Some of his immediate post match interviews are quite amusing too.

  2. That plus the players Zorrro mentions, and one or two others (Dan Gosling and Adam Johnson for instance) shows that we have the nucleus of a reasonable squad in 4 years. Am I right in thinking Rooney is the captain?

    Maybe this then?

This team could has extreme potential, one of which i see apart from A. Hole seems to be made up of players who genuinely play for the love of the game and not for the publicity or money (Gerrard, Rio, Terry)

  3. I'm not quite sure of your logic, you say SWP has played his last world cup, but Joe Cole who is younger by 2 weeks can still play in the next one, despite having had a serious injury. I'd keep Ashley Cole on board (although he might struggle to make 2014) as IMHO he is the best left back in the world. I'm also not too sure I'd want Andy Carroll anywhere near the national squad for a major tournament, he is a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

If you look at the Spanish for example, their squad (and their first team) isn't too much different to the one that played in 2006. One big difference is Raul- he is thought to have been a disruptive influence in the camp especially involving the difficulties between the Madristas and the rest. Find out who our Raul is and don't let him near the team again (even if it was say Rooney). At major tournaments the squad is together for ages and the players have to get along to a certain extent- maybe the coaching team should be asking the likes of the rugby and cricket coaches how they dealt with it, if that is the case my first port of call would be Sir Ian McGeechan (the last Lions coach)..

  5. A man had great tickets for the World Cup Final.

As he sits down, another man comes down and asks if anyone is sitting in the empty seat next to him.

"No", he says. "The seat is empty".

"That's incredible!" says the other man.

"Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the World Cup Final, the biggest sporting event in football, and not use it?"

"Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. My wife was supposed to come with me, but sadly she passed away. This is the first World Cup Final we haven't been together for since we got married".

"Oh, I'm terribly sorry to hear that. But couldn't you find anyone else to take the seat? A friend, relative or even a neighbour?"

The man shakes his head, "No, they're all at the funeral"

  6. I'm pleased. When we panned them a few years back but only managed a late late late draw (thanks Gary Mac), I remember tucking into a pie(s) and they were nothing short of delightful. Infact, the best pie i've had at a football ground.

Those pies are in sharp contrast to Burnley who's pie was rock hard and would have wiped Akibiyi clean out had I thrown it onto the pitch back when we lost 3-0 in the carling cup. (Ironically, they were sponsored by Hollands at the time).

  7. I was talking to a Spanish guy about what they think of England and they genuinely think we are a quality side with the likes of Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney, Ferdinand, Ashley Cole, Joe Cole, Terry, Johnson etc.

I think it is a case of the grass is always greener. I personally think that Spain are a better team than us but there is not much in it and I dont think the Spanish or Brazilians would ever see a match against England as a guaranteed victory and that is why we are in with a shout of winning the tournament.

In the last World Cup we did not play well, yet we still took a very good Portugal side to penalties with 10 men when it really mattered!

Not liking all the negativity in the room.

    England 3-1 USA

    Rooney 2 Dempsey

    Lampard (pen)

  8. I was sceptical myself at first but it could turn out to be a good thing. No point slagging Dickov off before's he's began. At the end of the day TTA are't going to impress everyone no matter who they choose (realistically) so why don't we just give him a chance anyway and if we're bottom of the league by January then feel free to vent your fury.

  9. Hmmm not so sure. The ending of Lost was garbage but it kept me interested right throughout. I've watched a few seasons of 24 and it follows the same pattern just about every time.

    1. Terrorists get some sort of weapon (usually a dodgy looking arab, one time it was even the hood from thunderbirds)

    2. CTU finds out about it cos of some threat they get or whatever, JB gets on the case and shouts alot inbetween sporadic whispering.

    3. JB catches the mug and takes him back to CTU, he's probably badly injured for some reason and Bauer exploits this to get that info.

    4. Anyway, he gets the info even though he's gonna kill the guy anyway, the guy decides he wants to give up this thing he cares so passionately about.

    5. They find out this guy ain't the top dog.

    6. They get intel on Leader no.2 (he's probably Arab as well)

    7. They find where he's gonna be. (there may be some sort of explosion in between this happening but that's optional)

    8. JB gets his guy, probably wounded him, exploits it, gets info.

    9. Apparently this guy isn't the top dog either because there is still 12 hours to go and the whole concept would be ruined if he was.

    10. They get intel, try to find the new guy, possible explosion and casualties, Terrorist is injured (he's probably white by this time and not arabic for some reason), JB exploits the injury.

    11. Someone double crosses someone, this guy gets free.

    12. They find a new lead, get him, he's injured, JB exploits it, finds out where guy 3 is again.

    13. Capture guy 3 again, repeat standard procedure.

    14. We still have 5 hours remaining so he isn't top dog either. Apparently it's Steve from Ipswich.

    15. So JB goes to Ipswich and picks up Steve who is devestatingly close to setting off some party poppers or something, but JB manages to wound him and take him back to CTU. Oh good god he isn't in charge either!!!!

    16. The president is involved or some government official. This get's dragged out until the 24th hour is up, at which point we have to have some stupid twist/cliff hanger regarding Bauer and then it's all over.

    BLOOP. BLEEP. BLOOP. BLEEP. BLOOP.

I think that's pretty much it.

and all that keep's you gripped to the show. Love it!!

  10. I've never bothered with Lost, but I'm a big 24 fan.

Just watched the last ever episode of 24 with my gf the other day. I was all teary at the end. Roll on the movies.

How have you watched the last one, there's still 3 episodes left on Sky1?

Regardless, please don't give away the ending, it's upsetting enough knowing it's nearing the end let alone knowing how before it does!!

Quite interested to see just how they plan on making the movie of 24 though. I'd love it to be a big 4 hour epic, you wouldn't catch me sitting through any ordinary film for that long put it that way!!

  11. I watched the first two series of Lost and I was impressed, but not to the extent where I felt once an episode had finished I HAD to watch the next one until my eyes could not stay open. Now, that is what 24 does to me. Impossible just to watch one episode at a time unless you're watching it on Sky, and even then it's painful having to wait a week for the next one.

Anyone else here think 24 is as good as what I think it is??

  12. Give me this squad on Football Manager and a scope of an extra 4K a week in wages, and Id comfortably make the playoffs, with a possible late push for promotion, dependant on loanees available in January

You think so? Well why dont we get an online game going as I'm sure there's a few fellow FM2010 players on here that be may be interested.

    Must be a Permanent Appointment

Who the hell is that? and seriously Brian Mcclair and Dean Holdsworth at 12s and 16s. Seriously?

    Ex Hearts manager i believe.

  14. I must admit when I first heard he was in the frame I wasn't overly impressed, "BUTT" thinking about it, Hes a name, he would probably put a few more bums on seats and he will know what the Newcastle and Manure have in their youth/reserve teams. There could be gems in there that could do a job for us.

It could just work? it could, why not, he wouldnt be the only ex manure player to get a job managing and do ok. I hope TTA and Hardy take a good luck and not get dazzled by the fact hes a name. If Gray stays or we get Bunn, they have experience of Latics and they could be invaluble in helping Butt if hes the man. There must be substance to him tho and the board have to back him.

I have decided whoever it is he gets at least 2 seasons come hell of high water for me. I'm sick of the manager merry go round at BP so I will stick to my guns this time ...................ahem!

    He's Bald

    Ex red,

But plays for Oldham instead ,

    Nicky Butt, Nicky Butt...

    :grin::grin::grin:

Lee Clark seems to be doing a good job at Udders so I dont see why Butt couldn't make his name here?
