  1. True.

    If that is what happened.

Conceivable he was being sold against his wishes I guess, unlikely though.

Forte would never pass a medical!

The way things are these days, there is no way that a player gets sold against his wishes. Unfortunately, all the power is with the players, and they can engineer moves but the clubs are stuck for the length of the contract, or until they can make the move attractive enough for the player.

The only conceivable tactic I can see is the 'training with the kids/frozen out of the team' one and pretty much all clubs down the food chain can't really afford that one, both in image and financial terms; and even then, when they can players can just sit back and collect their wages, and not give a hoot.

If, for example, Forte didn't want to go (and I'm not even sure the 'move' to Barnsley isn't only pure rumour), all he needed to do was go a bit slower in the medical, or complain of a twinge or three, and that would be the end of that!

  2. Id probably leave SC or who ever is at the helm in charge and buy myself on the board by setting a easy to run business and sponsering seats and players shirts for ridiculously large amounts to get round FFP on the understanding that money gets spent on players and wages only!

I wouldn't even go for a seat on the board; who needs the abuse? For me it would be a lifelong all-access season ticket for however many millions I could spare on splashing out.

  3. You don't need them. Just find a rich friend, borrow the money off him to keep the operation going, and load the debt onto the club. Make sure you insist said loan is paid back in full before you countenance selling, as you only want 'the right people' to take over, don't you?

There's been many years for you do exactly that as it's soooo easy; I've never expressed any desire to oust the current regime.

  4. It is, sorry. I was looking at Bloomberg info and assumed it was the US company.

The only info I can find on the US company suggests that Corney's not on the Board there either. But Blitz and Gazal (and a Bruce Steinberger) are.

Is it really that relevant what companies he currently runs. The fact is that he, and his mates, were successful enough to acquire a football club and land, investing several millions on the way, and has managed to stay in position, keeping the club afloat along the way.

Now granted, he does not have the cash to take the club onto the next step, but it's fairly clear that the sort of person who does isn't that plentiful, despite what some people seem to think.

  5. He is better than our current striking options, the fee was reported to be around 150k so not a fortune.

I think it would be better to pay one good player 5k a week than three ordinary players 5k between

    them.

    That logical enough for ya?

None of that is to the point; the point is that you assume that the club should have £150k hanging around, plus £250k per year for three years, just because Notts County have just allegedly paid that out.

Whilst I don't disagree with your point about one good player being more valuable than more lesser players, the fact is that we are more than likely (I think the recent radio phone-in confirms this) going to have to offload players before we can get anyone else in.

But to blithely say 'If they can do it, so can we' is just naive to the extreme.

  6.

At the Up Steps it's a scramble at the bar whether you want drink or food, which annoys me when I want to order a meal menu in hand, and people push in front just wanting a pint and the bar staff serve them first. The loudest shout syndrome I call it.

Its the behind closed doors syndrome, got you in so you pay our price like it or not.

That's two syndromes in one thread BP; are you getting paranoid or all medical on us? :icon_peace:

Because we don’t have a regular first team left back other than Mills we should send him out to play no matter what ? Not for me, Truelove is worth a look, as stated Brown could do a job.
How can Green get match fit sat on the bench, or been taken off every game he started in the pre-season after 60 mins.
Surely you have to try and play your best team every week not just the same old faces because you don’t have the balls to be bold and put some of the baggage on the bench.

You didn't mention Truelove replacing him; it more sounded like you wanted Mills dropped to make room for others you mentioned such as Green. Whilst I don't necessarily totally disagree with your criticism of Mills; I think I would prefer more obvious choices than a 'worth a look' and a 'could do a job', especially as Connor Brown moving over would likely leave a very controversial hole for B Wilson to fill.

if he wasn't match fit he wouldn't be on the bench pal

Totally and utterly wrong. Dunn isn't fully match fit, as a perfect illustration.

  8.

.....he looks to have some talent but maybe not match fit.
    .....
Mills should drop to the bench for me, .....

You answer your own question about why Green isn't playing yet.

    And

??? Drop Mills for whom? Do you suggest not having a left-back at all, or are you working on the theory of pick the eleven best players, and let the formation sort itself out?

  9. We were told he would play no part at Walsall though, the manager needs a win tomorrow I will bet my bottom dollar he plays what he considers his best eleven, Dunn will be one of the first names on the team sheet, if he fatigues there will be plenty of options from the bench.

A fiver to Playershare from me if he starts, from you if he doesn't? :deal:
