  1. cheers

Not a ridiculous thread, but ridiculous to want PD out.

People seem mostly to be annoyed with his post match comments rather than what he has done for the club. I'd rather he keeps working behind the scenes than focus on becomming a great PR executive.

Dickov is not an idiot and can see exactly what we see on the field. Other than some strange substitutions I think he has done pretty well.

The club has to think long term about the football and commercial aspects of OAFC and getting rid of PD will not help in the short or medium term.

  2. Chill people 3-1!!! Remember last season?

Mellor is full of potential, Black is with us for the last season as he isn't good enough at left back - he won't keep a co tract with us.

Despite Mellor's yellow cards we were more solid at the back with him playing, despite him having a terrible game.

Left back is a problem for us and something we need to address if we want to go forward.

  3. Anyone that did not go last night and see the excellent attacking display we put on can not comment from reports or commentary.

We were excellent - we attacked with no fear. I don't think that we are even missing a great striker - the banzai midfield is great to watch.

We play the ball on the floor with self belief and flair - the CBs did a great job after the first 5 minutes, defending with class and strength.

The fact that we didn't get a second is due to a little bit of bad luck and also Scunthorpe resorted to defending deep giving us little room to shoot.

Their goals came from a route 1 goal kick and a scuffed clearance that could have gone anywhere.

We tried to score up to the 94th minute, something that wouldn't have happened last year.

I haven't had so much fun watching an Oldham team or felt so excited about the next match in an absolute age.

  4. Fine by me - I like a Captain at CB.

As there isn't much cover at CB at the moment he's a dead certain starter - I can see the midfield changing a lot this season with the options we have, so we can't guarentee someone like Worthington a place every game - also who knows how he'll perform.

Seems a safe, sensible bet to me - the only choice.

Regarding the shouting at everyone - that happens in most workplaces with senior people. - if it gets ridiculous Dopple Penetrato will sort it.

Let's let the other experienced players bed in and choose one of those guys next year!

  5. Am I right in thinking that some people would rather take a gamble on Brooke than sign someone that we know will score?

Random - Having seen 20 minutes of a kid at the end of the season - start him??? We need decent strikers - reserve team footbal for the kids - THEN if they do well, throw them on for the occasional 30 minutes at the end of games.- If they do well, by all means throw them on at the start.

The last thing I want is booing crowds at a kid if he makes a mistake - they need to gradually become accustomed to the proffessional game.

If Hughes re-signs, he'll probably realise that he needs to behave and grab some goals if he ever wants to move on and earn serious cash...

  6. I really don't care if the man is a complete idiot - I'm not interested in being his mate.

If DP feels he can manage him and we have the funds, we should do what we can to get him.

As you say, the last thing I want again is a repeat of free to loan has-been strikers with no legs...

  7. Ha! I'm at the excitable point of pre season where any player looks good, but Hughes and Abbot up front would be brilliant - also if Abbot does get injured we have 2 great strikers instead of one and won't have to rely on the kids... - I'd rather throw them on as impact players.

But I shouldn't get too carried away...

  8. I'd take a punt on him...

He's shown that he knows where the goal is - if he did play up, we flog/fine him and use it as an example to the rest of the squad. That would show that there has been a regime change and that players can't behave like last season.

I don't think DP will take any messing from any of them - he'll keep them socially distant - that means he will be able to bo***ck them without being one of the boys and them just telling him where to go...
