  1. Okay I wont mention Messi, what about the 7 stone midget who ran the show against us for Peterborough, that was whan we had David Dunn in midfield.

Ok, indeed it is possible to have luxury players if they fit into your gameplan - he was strong, industrious and surrounded by a formation built around him.

    Where do we play Winchester?

I would vote that he could be an excellent right-back.

  2. I don't think Messi should be mentioned in this thread!!!

I think that as a league 1 player he isn't strong enough, certainly being stronger wouldn't be a bad thing.

We are outfought by teams every week, our youth players tend to be weak and we have always been a small team.

Also who has being lauding Brown!?

  3. In fact what should I say to have a post deemed "not idiotic"

Winchester is as big as Frank Bruno and has the pace and power of Courtney Laws.

Why do the vast majority of lunatics on here have to be so black and white about everything?

    Only options for this thread:

    I'm a Winchester fan.

    I'm not a Winchester fan.

Post a valid comment, slightly critiquing one aspect of his game and you are tarnished as band B.

    Introducing the colour Grey.

  4. Ah the old lightweight tag. I missed idiotic posts such as this one when he was running around teams for fun last season...

Maybe it is an old tag because it is true?

I did not even say that I didn't think he could do a job, just that he hasn't gained any frame in his entire career here.

    What are you, his mum?

  5. Let's hope that if he makes it that the Mistral isn't blowing. He was so weak yesterday that i fear the slightest breeze will blow him over.

When I saw Winchester for the first time my thought was bulk up, get bigger, put on weight and you have a chance of doing well at football. He is still about 9stone and made of twigs

  6. Serious question to all -

Do you think Shez, Ricky or even Eyresy would have more influence and be more successful than Kelly and Holden?

I'll start by obviously saying yes

My frustration is that we could afford any of those three, they would jump at the chance of managing this club and dumping the other two would equally be affordable. Redfearn would be ideal and perhaps him being here today wasn't just coincidence

Why would people we affiliate with and like be more fruitful than a new person?

Our players are not Latics fans, but paid professionals (believe it or not).

10 games please - 6 with injuries is just rude.

  7. I don't think I've been so irked by my fellow supporters as I have been so far this season.

Winchester can go. Forte would have been no great loss. Dunn signing was met by not nearly enough giddiness and some had him not being able to start until 8 weeks in. Lee Crofts headless chicken/Forest Gump act had him run away with MOTM whereas his first quality performance & his goal yesterday will get him nowhere near it.

Have we now reached a tipping point where most of our supporters have never seen success or been entertained?

Effort now seems to trump ability & quality.

We need both if we ever want to do anything but, if we can't afford both, we need ability & quality...

Have any of you ever sat in a pub and listened to an older OAFC fan fondly reminisce about a player running himself into the ground?

    Me neither.

It's not a lack of effort - I just don't see how he fits in with how we want to play, even at 22 he seems slow.

Forte is a great player, Dunn also - ditto the entire squad.

I really like Poleon, Winchester came

From the youth and I would love him to succeed... if neither are in the manager's plans why keep them?

  8. Always important to go for quality with glasses...

My inferior eyeballs see the reason for Winchester being out of the team is that he is too slow with the ball... Yes he has fairly good close control, but if we want to move the ball around quickly he is more likely to stop, do a 360, beat two men then fall over.

Comparison with Dunn - Dunn knows what he wants to do with the ball before he receives it - Winchester collects the ball, then considers his next move.

At least that is what I see!
