  1. If we move down towards failsworth you could say we would be too close to city , who do offer very reasonable prices , for prem football...... For now.

In 5 or 10 years its pretty much a certainty that city will be one of the top teams in europe , with ticket prices to mach, like chelsea, man u ,arsenel etc.

There fore leaving only one affordable local club to support .

No matter what you say moving the club closer to manchester will attract more fans, we havent got much hope of atracting the real oldhamers so why not try to tap into the surrounding areas ,

And i suppose distance wise we would prob be classed as the nearest rivals the the worlds ritchest club.

  2. I agree with some of the things said. Whitts goal was a stunner!

MOM - Chris O'Grady in my opinion. Him and PA up front will be a force.

Furman caught the eye but played quite deep.

The big CB trialist had a steady half. Would like to see him get another runout. He is massive!

Haining looked composed and is dominant in the air. Id like us to give him a contract.

Kieran Lee showed some good touches. Think he will figure a lot more next season.

Chris ogrady played ok but to me seemed to try a bit too much at times and lost the ball quite often, furman is best as a defensive midfielder and thats were he preferes to play. If they sign that big dopey coloured dude over haining i'll eat my hat. Never really liked keiron lee reminds me a little of mark hughes(the one that played for us a couple of years ago not city boss) theres plenty of effort but dont think we need him!

That keeper looked poor , especialy with them two punches.

  3. It's really funny how some people would accept a move to failsworth, but not to ashton moss.

So, it's all down to the 1974 boundary changes?

Oldham is only Oldham (derker, hollinwood, lees, watersheddings, greenacres etc), not shaw, royton, saddleworth, chadderton or failsworth.

Ashton moss and droylsden could have been put into oldham as easily as saddleworth, or failsowrth could have been left out just as easily, but by the stroke of a whitehall mandarin's pen, people suddenly (well, after 35 years) see it as all fine.

For me Oldham should play within the locality of their support, and in fact based on the tradition of their original location, they can indeed push right onto the boundary.

Ashton moss would be no more a disaster than failsworth in my book, but I doubt it would happen.

The best site would probably be the vacant site with the gas-holder south of the M60 - bang on the motorway, good link to the rail line (metro-link coming soon-ish) and still technically within oldham.

But the people who wouldn't go to the bottom of braodway would probably complain.

I let you have failsworth , but unless all these places dont actually know were they are i'd say you were wrong.

  4. I know we give him plenty of stick from time to time , but at this level hes as good a right back as we can expect .

It may only be wales but doing well with his country and working with the players and coaches in the wales setup will only improve his game .

So well done to him and we should all be proud!

  5. Annoying that it reads ..... 'he tured down a new contract at bp IN FAVOUR of a move to tranmoore' More like tured down a 1 yr contract for in hope that some desperates would come with a two. And along they came.

I liked him , always put the effort in , decent long range shooter, Scored the best goal for tics in the last ten years, Positionally not that good, and also a little poor in the air.

Hes a latics boy through n through, and given a two year contract there is no way he would have FAVOURED tranmere.

He will need to purchace some steel toe cap footie boots now though.......HOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFF!!!!

  6. Soccer AM – competition

    image001-1.jpg

This Saturday, eight Latics supporters will be taking on the challenge of ‘the road to Rome’ on Soccer AM.

owtb.co.uk is offering it’s members the chance to win the player name of their choice by correctly guessing the number of ‘goals’ they score in 'the road to Rome'.

All correct guesses will go into a hat, with one winner drawn out.

Please post below your guess, which is strictly one per member. If you post more than once we will take the first answer posted.

This topic will be closed before the live ‘event’ takes place.

    good luck
