I would of liked him here tbh

Yep, think we've missed a trick here. Can't see that they've paid much more than £20k or £30k either!

Alty have signed Conn Clarke from Fleetwood on a permanent signing - record fee but previous record was £15k according to Wikipedia. Would have liked him at Latics.

Apparently we've sold Sam Alabi to Newcastle? Who?
Going into 15/16 squad at Newcastle so straight from our academy.

To be clear with the information. Yarney signed a deal until the end of 22/23 with the club having the option to extend until the end of 23/24. All clubs do these, United have the clause in almost all their deals for example.
The negotiations the club entered were for a better wage and a longer contract due to his decent showing.
The club could have just taken up the option and have him on the same wages.
The fact the talks have gone so badly says a lot about Yarney IMO and may explain his shit show of a career. He was happy with the wages in the deal in February and was then demanding stupid money a matter of a few months later.
The club don't want him, even on last years wages is what I am being told.
Blimey! Maybe he needs to change agents.

Not bad with still a couple of weeks to go before pre season starts.
I hope we're training on Little Wembley again.

Four youth players accept contract offers including Jake Forshaw, unfortunately Aaron Atkinson isn't one of them.
That's bad news, heard he's a real prospect.

I've moved a couple of times to accommodate a family group sitting together but it's not really on.
If you've payed up front for a specific seat there should be a sticker on it and you should be able to sit in it.
Which has reminded me to ask the powers that be to put some reserved stickers on our seats for next season! Not normally an issue but the JRS might be full if we get our recruitment right.

Big water storage tanks behind the main stand/RRE corner. Borehole?
Will be as the tank between the JR stand and the RRE stand is where the drilling rig was.

New kit is blue, red collar, bit of tangerine detailing as well.
Away is burgundy.
Staff who designed it with Puma very excited about it. Suppose they will be given it's their 1st time doing it.
Think I might have preferred the Hope & Glory colour choices for the girl's kits!

In the Oldham Times Darren Royle is quoted as saying: “Puma is a truly iconic sports brand", rather than the kit being 'iconic'!
They can also call it 'bespoke' as it will have the club crest on it!
Maybe I could have read it wrong but from today's interview with Suzanne:
"We've got an iconic football shirt that's going to be launched, so we want everyone to buy one. I'll be buying a home and away shirt for my kids and myself."
Have to wait and see I suppose - hope it's a good one as quite liked Hummel.

New shirt sponsorship announced- and DR says new shirt is bespoke design ie not a Puma template kit.

DR also says the new kit is "iconic" in his latest interview. Any ideas?

Bit off topic but Frank being followed by a couple of cameras around the paddocks and up the tunnel so more videos from the club to come shortly.
Back out and on the pitch so looks like they're going round explaining what work is being done in the close season.

£350 is still a good deal (if we're better than last season!) and anyone waiting until August has another 3 or 4 paydays to get the cash together.
A flash sale for a week at early bird prices after a couple of good signings might be worth considering though?

Just arrived home, good 4-3 win from a decent Latics team.
Best player on the pitch by a mile was our 8 (Aaron Atkinson ?).
Slightly built midfielder but not shirking a tackle and constantly looked to move the ball forwards, looks a real prospect, especially when he fills out. Earned and scored the winning penalty.
Forshaw is massive and had a decent game, leading the line well. Although big he is quite mobile and turned his marker a few times and looked a constant threat.
Both wingers looked pacey, Isaac Modi played down the left and found space but like a few others lacked a finish when cutting inside.
Captain played OK ( Frazer Cookson?) at centre half and was vocal giving a couple of bollickings when teammates loitered on the ball.
Walsall looked second best most of the game and were kept in it by our lads' poor finishing and defensive errors. Their 9 was a big lad who led their line well and they kept plugging away even after a red card.
Overall it was a good performance and a decent end to end match and certainly a couple of players worth keeping an eye on. Jake Forshaw has the build and not inconsiderable skill to make up into a blockbusting handful of a centre forward and Aaron Atkinson* possesses all the attributes, at this stage in his career, to make a good living in league football.
* Apologies if I've got the wrong player but it was definitely our number 8.
Think he used to be at United but was released possibly due to his size. Know someone whose lad played in same team and said he stood out in terms of talent.

How we now feeling about the (non) signing of Ryan Colclough a few months after he’s joined Chesterfield?
Looks like he’s in great form for them with plenty of goals & assists.
Doesn’t rankle so much this season, but should Chesterfield miss out on promotion this season, he looks like he’ll still be one of the best players in the league for them next season. That’ll be more frustrating should we get our act together and be challenging in the top 7. Could have been a difference maker for us (goals / top quality service for Nuttall, Fondop & Reid)
Along with Dallas who Chesterfield have also signed from Solihull. We also need to sign some of the best players in the league ready to really push for promotion next season.

Was the ability of our players in the 1960s any better than now..check this out and let me know...
Started watching the following season(first in tangerine)so remember a few players from this side - Ledger, Frizzell, Bowie,Blore Towers, Asprey. Don't get highlights like that nowadays on Match of the Day!
-
Surely got to win one of Chesterfield or Barnet to survive? (Don't call me Shirley!!!).

No but he did look a good player. It does make you wonder why no-one else has gone in for him though.
