Some Barnsley fans started it last week and Wrexham have supposedly been after him and one of their ITK's supposedly said that he was coming here - not been confirmed really by anyone linked to us

I heard it from a lot closer to home than Barnsley or Wrexham so know we've definitely been trying for him. Still think he'll probably go to Wrexham or another EFL club and the money could be better spent on another midfielder and a right back.

  2. Right back and/or RWB required urgently and another Lundstrum type if Gardner isn't fit enough. Hobson needs to be central so Unsworth has to decide 2 out of 3 centre backs. Age wise etc I'd probably go Hobson and Raglan. Also got to be Nuttall or Fondop with Willoughby or Reid. Unsworth needs a good start to the season or the fans will turn again.

Think a few have said that he's merely training and likely going to play in Ireland so don't think he will sign, soon know if he's in the reckoning if he's a trialist against Mansfield I guess.

Brennan Dickinson who broke his ACL, last played for Carlisle and played mostly at Gillingham and Colchester also linked on Twitter by some guy who said his mate's mum works in Travelodge and he got booked in there. Played as a left back but now as a left winger. Not sure on the validity but it is a rumour thread.

Dickinson played wide left/right on the bibs team training match today. Another wide player called "Bez" as well - don't know who he could be.

Could be Lubala ex Blackpool, Crawley.

If you read the match report on the Barrow website it looks like we created next to nowt and that Barrow had total control.

Can anyone who went give us an unbiased view?

Think the stats had us with more possession, more shots (less on target) and more corners.

Sounds like we did ok but Southend is the game to start looking good.

DU said attracting loan players from high up the leagues was difficult, especially in the mess we were in internally, but we're a more attractive proposition now. That said, the loan players we attracted last season were simply gaps to plug. Peck looked out of his depth. Chapman, who looked classy on fleeting glimpses, struggled to impose himself on games. Timmy Abraham, the more he played, the more we saw how much he lacked composure. Peter Clarke is a club legend but his legs had just about gone and was reduced to the bench after that brainfart in the FA Trophy. Sambou was a bit of desperation after losing Fondop to suspension and always faded quickly after Ramadan sapped his energy.

I'm perfectly satisfied we're not immediately plunging into the loan market if I'm honest.

A really good season long loan shouldn't be ruled out though. Loan players should be players you can't afford so in effect should be better than what you have. The scouting system is now in place where we could be picking up a talented right back for example without paying a fee which we seem to have been trying to do with Ogle.

Remember them all vividly.  With one exception - Tony Bailey?

I remember him and I've got a shocking memory for players and previous seasons. Think he came from Derby.

Also remember Alan McNeill picking up dad, me and my brother and taking us to the dogs at Halifax I think or maybe Bradford.

Also Paul Edwards buying us some chips in Shaw as we were out with his cousin!!!

    Grimshaw gone to Dundee Utd.

Golden played and scored for Halifax midweek.

Ogle has been injured but played the first half for Scunthorpe midweek.

We have also been linked with Jordan Cropper at Grimsby - he was on loan at Barney last season but I believe he is a free agent at the moment.

Rochdale seem to have recruited well including a right back on loan from Derby - seems strange that we aren't looking at loan players(as yet)!

Cue triallist no 2 appearing on the team sheet!!!

Why can't People just be positive? We've got 4 really good options now up front. A guy with 16 last season, Reid who has hit 20+ in this league, Willoughby who got 20 in the league below and Fondop who was our top scorer last season. Jesus Christ, in most seasons the last decade I'd have taken just one striker who could shoot

Anyonelse really excited by the fact that we have 4 genuinely good strikers all of whom are proven at this level and will all find the back of the net. The fact they are all having to fight for 2 or at the most 3 places is something to really look forward too.

Weirdly we seem to be trying for another striker. Just get a right back and maybe another centre mid to help Lundstrum please lads.

The lad who elbowed willoughby should have gone too.

There were a few nasty challenges from Southport players just in those brief highlights. Stupid from Nuttall but the guy tried kicking him which then carried on and he went back at him 2 or 3 times. Should have hit him harder!

........once again we were dominated in midfield.

Lundstram was excellent in the second half - found it a little strange that one of Shelton or Sheron didn't stay on rather than moving Will Sutton into midfield and playing the full 90. Good right wingback required as Hobson and Raglan will make a decent 3 in the centre of defence with Hogan.
