  1. Like the most fickle of football fans, I’ve changed my mind about getting rid of Dave Penney.

I'm actually starting to see a few positives in Penney's work here. While Latics teams under say Sheridan would go and get a result at places like Elland Road, the same side would then more than likely go and lose a game like tonight’s. We seem to be picking up points in games where we "should" be doing so under Penney. If we go on a bit of a run now and get a few wins from the remaining games, I'd go as far as saying Penney might have cracked the "all we need to do is turn up" attitude that have spoiled past seasons.

If Penney can build a decent squad over the summer and believe his teams can go and have a go at the likes of Leeds and Norwich , who knows? Maybe we've made the right appointment!

Totally agree. At the end of the day due to our nightmare run of fixture postponments we were in a false position, had we been down there with equal games played id have been worried. We had to pick up points in March, and so far we have. Saturday was disapointing, but theres not much DP could do about either goal really. Today hes made the changes that were needed, and on a very difficult pitch and against a side who aren`t doing to bad of late, weve got a big win!

  2. At the end of the day, is singing such negative songs, added to the constant boo-ing really going to help? Is it really the way to help the lads pick up vital points? Is it really suddenly going to make Corney etc realise the fans feelings? Does it actually achieve anything (apart from negatives)? Answer = No. You pay your money, then your entitled to an opinion, i respect that .. but i cant see what good any of it does tbh.

  3. I suppose its being negative and overly critical to ask why ? if we are "breaking ground in the spring" on our new stadium... oh wait...

No plans on moving anytime soon then...

Yes because putting in alittle synthetic grass will signal the end to any hopes of moving stadium ........

It`s not as if weve done some major work now is it. In the short-term it looks pretty tidy, and can hopefully bring in alittle extra revenue.

  4. I was told it looked naff and it does - i can kind of see why they have done it but i wonder whats its cost

I think it looks quite decent tbh. Alot better than just having aload of sand and mud along the line. As for costing it seems to make sense, as it says it costs less to maintain aswell as offering decent advertising revenues. It`s a decent idea if you ask me.

They could have coloured it to mix in with the other turf then it might look half decent

 at times the only thing you can do when you read some comments on here is laugh! O dear.

  5. why don't you pick the phone up and call the ticket office, considering we haven't sold out for any games this season and we pull about 4000 thousand if were lucky at home, then take into fact league 2 is not too far away i reckon fecking loads of tickets are left.

Add to that the £27 to get in!!

  6. I've no problem going down and helping out (Which I'll do), but I can't see that I'll learn anything.

Having spent a good deal of my working life in transport, I already know how to fold and roll large canvas sheets, which is pretty much all that will be going on.

Please don't fool people into thinking they'll learn about thermal physics and agrostology by turning up, when all they'll be needed for is a bit of muscle

The learn something bit was put in with just a tiny bit of sarcasm, obviously missed.
