  1. like i said...from BRFC mad messageboard..

"Oh sh1t , that finishes off a bad weekend . From what I`m led to believe , it was an accident . Lads had been messing about throwing beer and plastic bottles , someone has then thrown the bin , which the lad has gone to head , like a football , now he has then either been knocked out or slipped and then banged his head on the floor . I got that from lads who had it filmed on their mobile , which they had then given to Police as evidence ."

Version i heard is slightly different. I heard that a fight broke out in the concourse at the ground between Blackburn fans, with bottles initially being thrown and then for some reason someone decided to throw a large metal bin, which struck the unfortunate man and he later died as a result. A blackburn fan i know said that this season the "hooligan" following as increased, especially at away matches as people attend to get tickets for the Burnley match late on in March.

  2. More than just sticking the covers on, evidently. Extra heating on the parts that suffer the most, hot water put down when temps got to 0 degrees and above. I'm sure equipment can be hired out on a day-to-day basis to help thaw the pitch out. I've even seen other clubs with burning barrels to aid thawing. The game being on was crucial to both our league position and also DP's job. All indications so far just lead to the conclusion of the club not being quite prepared enough to ensure we saw the fixture on.

Last season for the Hartlepool game the club put covers on, the hired out 6 industrial heaters and staff stayed over-night to ensure the game was on. The game was still called off. However, that`s all well and good. What people are clearly over-looking (and once again i`ll put in in bold) is the fact that the forecast forecasted a temperature of minus 2, which would have been fine. What came was a temperature of minus 5, how could anyone possibly see that coming? Why would anyone at the club feel the need to hire any equipment out with temperatures that the covers could handle. Please dont give us the whole "i checked on my car and it said minus 2" rubbish, as it`s been said it gives a totally different temperature to the pitch temperature.

  3. Well yes, we have put them on before but haven't we had a change of Groundsman recently? Apparently the official site is now claiming the covers only work to -2c!!! Hmmmm....really? Said -4c many times before. Also, they're saying it went down to -5c also. Hmmmm...really? Yet myself, FMS and a few others know full well it wasn't that cold last night.

Do you? So you were stood on the pitch .. taking the temperature last night? If you went out and checked the temperature on your car for example, all the car shows is the air temperature .. not the ground temperature which will be colder! The ground frost will go down deeper than just the cold air thats around, and retain the cold. If they say the temperature went down to -5 then whay do they gain for lying? There losing out not to have a game on! Also, yes weve one new head groundsmen, but the other 2/3 groundsman have been here for a while now, well before the change of head groundsman so they know how the put the covers on.

Oh, and the different between my argument and yours is the fact i know what i`m talking about, i mean to start off with you ranted about the full pitch not being covered, when, infact it was

The point is Kellys, we've had nights colder than last night yet the covers have worked and the game's been on.

Forgive me if i`m wrong, just off the top of my head the last time the covers were on was Hartlepool last season wasn`t it? And the game was called off. Ofcourse weve played in worse, in years gone by football still went ahead with snow piled up around the terraces, and fans threw snowballs at the players (especially goalkeepers!!) but football has sadly moved on, and for the worse. Why is it that the club is at fault? Maybe they thought the pitch was playable yet the ref was alittle on the soft side and didnt fancy it?!

  4. Oh dear what? So they weren't on early enough to keep the heat in from earlier in the week, or they weren't put on properly.....no -4c last night. Hardy didn't anticipate any problems. Something went wrong.

I see you keep on persisting with this silly little claim they werent on early enough, or they weren`t on properly. Do tell me, what difference would it have made if they`d gone on Wednesday (like you suggested before). As i said in a previous post they were on by yesterday lunch-time, when the pitch wasn`t frozen. The temperatures last night froze the pitch, had the pitch froze prior to the covers going on i could understand, but the pitch was fine when the covers went on! The covers were on properly, they`ve been put on many times before, theres not much you can do wrong when putting them on. Why do people have to find someone to blame at the club. Why do people always have to suggest people can`t do there jobs within the club, i mean people have gone from slagging the players off to the groundsmen now!

Ive put afew things in bold for you to make it alittle easier to understand.

  5. If there was any doubt about today. they should've been on since Weds when temps where higher! When Hardy was making his rallying call...

If they were put on yesterday, or on Wednesday it wouldnt have made any difference what-so-ever. The pitch wasn`t frozen when the covers went on, last nights cold weather froze the pitch over-night, not wednesdays.

  6. I'm :censored:ing incensed at this...if that is the offical picture of the covers...why are they only covering part of the pitch?

We need games!!! It's unacceptable this today! We've had weather conditions like this a 100 times and had games on. Either they didn't put the covers on soon enough, or they did but weren't out on properly, or didn't before cover enough of the pitch.

*sigh* The covers were on before dinner-time yesterday, so they were on early enough. The covers also cover the whole pitch, the picture is an old one or taken this morning as the covers were removed. Also, the covers were put on properly .. they`ve done it enough times and theres not much you can vary and go wrong with.

  7. Somepeople need to grow up, move on and support your club, rather than two jumped up yank girls ..... who people seem to drool over and then lose all sense of perspective or reasoning, because, at the end of the day thats the only reason that anyone has even bothered with them, and the only reason why people have moaned so much about there "awful treatment by the club". I do wonder if people would have been so upset had they not been two "good-looking" girls. If they were male i`m sure no-one would have even battered an eye-lid!
