Unfortunately I think we are all looking at this with rose tintes spectacles. Unfortunately Delph will one day play for England, Chris Taylor wont. Plus isnt Taylor the best part of 5 years older than Delph?
Any comparisons to Taylor are just a bit off... taylor is a winger, Delph although occasionally playing on the wing is a central midfielder, and will definately play this position when he matures. He is a dirty little bugger now, but he will sort this out with experience.
Again... its stupid money. But you are paying this for potential. Chrisy has the ability to perhaps step up a division. Delph has the potential to be one of the top midfielders in the world. Different gravy.
... Also, if Leeds do sign hoolahoop which is likely with Larry at the helm, i'd highly doubt they would be interested in taylor.... Hoolahoop was the best player int he division with the lashers, so that is rather worrying....
I think your over rating Delph there.

Pace pace pace pace....if we had pacey centre halves (which are pretty rare are they not?) everybody would whine that we need some dominant headers of the ball.
Gregan was our best player last season, and bar Furman he will this season too. He'l be bashing fools and stroking the ball out of defence come Saturday, you'll see.
Its Rubes im worried about not Gregan

Yeah def worth it.
-
as long as it's at least £2m of it.
If they get £6m for Delph we should get £2m for Taylor
-
DP stated that we were never interested in him. He's never a RB, so he couldn't replace Eardley.
He didnt say he wasn't interested, he said it wasn't going to happen. Two different things.

A scoreboard would be nice.
Well planned layout.

I dont think its just about tackling. A good defender doesnt need to be a good tackler if he reads the game well and looks to cut out the ball before it reaches the forward.
We need to teach the younger players how to read the game as well as their technical skills. Proactive rather than reactive skills.

Didnt Brill win the poll we had on here as to who should be first choice?
bet them people who voted for him wishes we hadnt sent Greg out on loan

"There is no way in the world, and I'm willing to take any bet you can think of, that Latics will get promoted next season. No chance whatsoever."
Fair enough its your money
"The mercenaries, sorry players, weren't good enough for various clubs last season and wont be good enough this."
How do you know this? No one knows how a player will turn out at another club.
Whats the point in next season? Nothing excitings gonna happen. 12th place, FA Cup second round and Coca Cola Cup (or whatever its called now cup) 2nd round.
The point is that we are Oldham fans and we dont just drop our club because they are not favourites for promotion. Strange thing happen in football. Didnt everyone say Leeds were going up at the begining of last season. Would You have predicted Charlton, Norwich and Southampton getting relegated at the begining of last season? Would you have predicted Newcastle getting relegated?
And to be honest Ive been to places like Man U and as good as the football is, I didnt enjoy it half as much as going to Oldham. I go and enjoy the game a have a few pints with my mates, THATS the point in next season.
Enjoy paying ridiculous prices to watch 3rd Division mid table football people!
No I dont enjoy having to pay what I do but thats life. I enjoy going to Oldham and thats why I will continue to go.
Oh, and moving to within 4 miles of the worlds richest (and sadly, soon to be very successful) club would be a marvellous business decision. Of course, Latics 12,000 seater stadium would have better community facilities and more prestige for events than the City Of Manchester Stadium Complex wouldn't it. Also, I wonder who the youngsters in the area will decide to support?
You must be a very rich man as you seem to know everything about business. Sadly TTA know nothing about business, they must have all won the lottery or something as they are all millionaires.
The location of the stadium is not ideal but at least it will move the club forward. We dont all have mega rich owners to throw money at the club, not much we can do about that.

I'm really worried about Brill, as I was when we signed him. Prepared to give him a chance but I honestly believe we need Greg back or another keeper in.
-
course there is! that little bloke inside his head that says "forget the game craig! that bloke looked at you funny! teach him a lesson..."
-
its gonna cave in if he carries on!
Im suprised its not already as there is nothing in there.
-
So he got married and took HER name?
-
According LAFC he's a CB
-
read reports from gillingham fans saying he was absolutely awful!!
lets hope DP knows what he is doing!!
Guess thats why he's only got a 12 month contract
-
Well thats Left back well and truely sown up !
Jacobesen Black Steer.
Still think we need a CB
Even though he's a LB can he play CB as well?
-
Noticed its mentioned in the LW interview, not a subscriber though... what's said?
It's not. There is just a reference to it in the title.

Roughyeds fans will piss and moan anyway. So let them do it without ruining the pitch. Probably cost more to keep the pitch up to standard with rugby playing on it than the revenue it would create.
Like us football fans dont piss and moan.
Cant say I like egg chasing but you cant expect the council help us develop a stadium and tell the rugby to f**k off. I dont expect them to get the same as Latics but the council should be trying to help both out.
-
I think Furman will be class and I think Purdie will suprise a lot of people and be a very good signing.
-
OK maybe we would have been better going a bit lower for players but isn't anybody else worried about some of the signings that our rivals are making?
The thing is, you cant control what other teams do and there is a number of teams with more funds available then us. You can only do your best with the facilities you have available.
-
I know i would rather Barnes training me than Penney. Also Tranmere's signings have been more exciting than ours in my opinion. Players such as Alan Mahon and John Welsh i think will prove to be better signings than Purdie and Furman.
Depends if you for a big name with a :censored: track record as manager or someone with not as big a name but has a pretty decent track record.
-
Lee Hughes signs for Notts County
He just wanted to go for a pint with Sven
-
Cannot really see any bad in this signing. Sign as a midfielder and get rid of casper also have some good competition for places.
Sign as a free replacement at RB and sell Eardly for a decent sum and use part of that money to sign a decent CB.
-
Well since scoring against us in the play offs he's managed 3 goals in 58 appearances. If ever there was a time to get back on track, this would be it.
Sounds like and Oldham striker already with that record
Fabian Delph to Villa

How do you know Taylor will only make it as a championship player?
If Delph was that good why would the like of Man U, Arsenal etc let him go to Villa? and why would he only go this year. If he were truely that good one of the big clubs would have had him a year ago. The big clubs sign these potential world class players from all over the world when they are 15/16 years old. Do you think if he was that good they would have let him get to 19 without signing him.
Dont get me wrong, I think he's a good player but he's still only proven at the same level as Taylor.
